Conflicting indications of Lara’s current state of health vis-à-vis her expectations for the future…
Lara was once again out of sight this past week, and despite the buzz over her future plans, the present looks pretty barren, professionally at least. Eva Longoria’s ‘Global Gift Gala’ took place yesterday in Paris, and while Tina Arena, Patrick Fiori, and the winners from the French version of ‘The Voice’ were there, Lara was not. She has been the ‘Global Ambassador’ of The Global Gift Foundation’, had attended and performed at several of the previous ones (e.g., last May 13th, 2013 in Paris; in Marbella last August), and of course had various interactions with Eva Longoria (their joint photo as an ‘imaginary couple’, etc.) in the past year. Even if she weren’t performing, her very presence would have sent a message to her fans, and to the producers of ‘The Voice’, about the current state of her health - in addition to supporting Eva, who has become her good friend. So Lara’s absence from the event in Paris was noticeable. Posters and information concerning this charity gala can be seen at:

and their website at: www.facebook.com/globalgiftgala
Perhaps her absence was due to the presence of Patrick Fiori – see below!
In addition, Lara or her people have had no new entry on her FB page for the last several weeks, no new Instagram photos for two months, no new Twitter posts in six months. It’s as if the summer malaise has started two months early. Lara had been making an effort to keep in touch with her fans, if not really keeping them informed. Perhaps the effort to keep up appearances when there is nothing really new has grown too wearying for her. [As author of these New Updates, I can empathize! ].
But of course there is something new, she’s just not discussing it. The Lara Fabian PHQ FB site has been showing a poster for Lara’s fall tour, at:
www.dropbox.com/sh/eo8n5vigyufzbay/AABjeKksHEJvDOOxZWljr2lua/CONCERTS-2014.jpg
Nothing like a poster to make it seem real, which it may well be especially if as noted last week, it is really an acoustic show. Still no listing of it on Lara’s FB tour schedule, though it has achieved prominence on her official URL.
And while French-speaking fans have been clamoring for Lara to ‘return’ by singing in their countries, an article in ‘Plug and Play’ indicates she has scheduled a concert for Belgium. The article, in English, at
plugnplaymusicblog.com/index.php/news-lara-fabian-return/
says Lara has recovered and has arranged to sing at the Royal Palace in Belgium later this year. There is no indication of how the writer knows this, it’s not on her URL, and a search of the web failed to find any such concert listing or tickets yet on sale. If the writer found this out, why hasn’t Lara trumpeted it to her dearest fans? Nevertheless, even if true, it still raises the question of whether this too is another indication of Lara’s expected return to health, or an affirmation that it has happened already.
If currently Lara is lazing around, at least she can perhaps do it in luxury; an article uncovered by a fan on the MZ FB site lists Lara’s net worth at $8 million.

Some fans noted that such calculations rarely have ‘insider information’, and are little more than guesses based on presumed income and expenses.
WRT our review of different fan websites, one has been around since last December is ‘Lara Fabian videos’:

One video is added each day, although primarily there are many photos on the site. My one suggestion would be to provide the date for each of the photos, so one could differentiate the old from new ones…
And speaking of old and new material, here are the next three ‘best of’ video choices:
L'enfant du Gwenved: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_x1YwGC1TI
www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGhpoyctxYw
L'homme qui n'avait pas de maison:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL6R2NJiOeo
L'hymne a l'amour: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqFdsEdwmMM
app.box.com/s/1j73i2g1mffnb6bwrgaf
There are only a few versions of ‘L’enfant du Gwenved’ available, fortunately they are very good. The first one chosen is from the Brussels concert of 9-21; the version from the complete show of the previous day was also quite good. The second choice is the multi-angle video from the Paris showcase. This is yet another song that has gotten short-changed by the abbreviation of the ‘Le Secret’ tour.
One of the best songs from ‘Neuf’, ‘L’homme qui n’avait pas de maison’ has as its choice the version from the ‘Un regard neuf’ DVD with the wonderful video quality. Also of great interest was Lara’s performance at the Laurette Fugain Association benefit (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfBnLeJ5TG8), and the show with Roberto Alagna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAhuAHYZrHA), among a number of others. Lara was always greatly energized by this song and her supporting cast.
The inclusion of the Edith Piaf song ‘L'hymne a l'amour’ on TLFM was Lara’s homage to her, and the best visuals for it of course include Edith’s hologram. That is best seen on the TLFM DVD, the first choice given above. However, the second choice listed is perhaps one of Lara’s most famous videos, known to long-term fans as ‘The Kiss’! Her duet with Patrick Fiori is one of the few videos we have showing what beautiful music they could have made together, one of the few times her singing partner is truly her equal. Eh bien, c’est la vie…Also of note is another pairing, albeit abbreviated in all respects, the duet done with Josh Groban (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXFal13nMuo).
Patrick Fiori actually gets mentioned three times in this Update, for coincidentally, he is about to release a new studio album called ‘Choisir’. It is an homage to the women in his life, and Lara is one of those included. Here’s the article:

and here’s his picture with Lara:

As we know, it did not end well…
While all the prospects continue to look good for Lara’s return to health, there is as yet no comment from her that it has already happened. And there have been no current activities that would indicate things have ‘returned to normal’. Lara said she would be getting tested each month – even if such tests indicate complete hearing recovery, how would they know if it would hold up under concert conditions? Perhaps they won’t, until the events happen…until then, we can only join her in hoping the future is as rosy as her current plans seem to foresee.
