Lara had no public appearances this past week, for the second week in a row, implying that her rehabilitation will not be over any time soon. However, that did not stop her from planning for the future. In addition to the maintenance of the German dates this coming fall, which Lara has never acknowledged, various of Lara’s fan sites have noted that she is scheduled to appear at the Kremlin next November 15 and 16th, at a gala program put together by Igor Krutoi. Also scheduled to appear are Andrea Bocelli and Sumi Jo, among others. The add for it can be seen at:

In addition, she will also be at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow for Krutoi’s 60th birthday, November 22nd, as well (Lara is the 4th name in the 3rd column – thanks to Larafabianweb.com – in the following announcement):

Actually all the dates have been advertised as a ‘birthday’ celebration for Krutoi; the only problem is that according to ‘Wikipedia’ he was actually born on July 29th! One guesses that having a birthday celebration while everybody is away on vacation would be inconvenient.
Lara’s official sites have not acknowledged any of this, either; however, even when she was healthy, she was strangely reticent to publish her Russian commitments on her FB site – perhaps she felt it was primarily for her French fans, and she has wanted to keep the two ‘careers’ separate. Regardless, it’s pretty certain that if it is at all possible for her to appear, she will, given her loyalty to Krutoi and Russia in general. As the lyric goes, “if you have no dream, how can the dream come true?” . Let’s hope Lara’s dream of being ‘out and about’ by that time becomes a reality.
A twist this week in our exploration of other Lara fan sites. Seba Sanchez III, the creator of the following site,
www.facebook.com/pages/Lara-Fabian-Espa%C3%B1a-France-Mexico/395035310594912?ref=hl
has indicated that due to personal reasons he can no longer maintain it. He asks that if anyone would like to take it over, he would appoint them co-administrators. Knowledge of French and Spanish would appear to be a requirement, though a brief perusal of it did not turn up any Spanish. Presumably you can contact him on the site.
At this point, approaching the one year anniversary of ‘Le Secret’, total sales of the album (in France, Belgium and Switzerland) are about 75,000. That is about ½ the total sales of TLFM, and also ½ of ‘A Wonderful Life’ (despite its never having been released in an English speaking country). Obviously the full history of ‘Le Secret’ has yet to be written, and there are probably digital sales available that weren’t for the earlier albums - but unless Lara reinitiates a tour for it, it’s hard to see how much further it can go, a ‘miscarriage of justice’ for such a wonderful album.
‘La page des fabianesk’ site published two wonderful pictures of Lara photographed by Emanuele Sorcelleti in a bedroom and bathroom at her home. Fans have commented as much on the rooms as on Lara’s appearance. Rozenn Roz on the MZ FB site indicated that the pictures were taken last year for ‘Paris Match’ (at the time of the release of the Gala article) but were never made public. They can be seen at:

So, if one can’t see Lara in person, photographs will have to do!
Or videos…leading us into this week’s collection of ‘best of’…

Il venait d’avoir 18 ans: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUN2ZlZW62A
Immortelle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmGIayAAtjo
For’Il suffit d’un éclair, this is one of several such videos available from Sonia Barenza shows in 1994; there’s a certain innocence about Lara that makes this particular one appealing (in addition to the bangs she was wearing at the time!). When commenting on these earlier videos, Lara has said that her voice was still immature – nevertheless, one can’t deny the power and fluidity it had at that age.
For ‘Il venait d’avoir 18 ans’, there are several intimate presentations, but when it comes to the holograms, impossible to beat the TLFM font leur show’ DVD version.
For Immortelle, there are again close to 90 videos available, too many to do proper justice to it. It was included on most of her DVDs, in fact twice on ‘Lara Fabian Live’ from the ‘Nue’ tour, once as one of the few solos of Lara playing the piano (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJTHSsxyrRI). Another beautiful version was on the ETI DVD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzDhGl0DB_4). The choice here was from the show ‘Les 500 choristes’, because the full chorus really gives it the background it so richly deserves.
Next week brings the one year anniversary of the release of ‘Le Secret’. It will be interesting to see if there is any acknowledgement of the date on Lara’s official site, and if any action is taken to commemorate it. As fans have suggested, it would be an appropriate time for her to release the fan-supplied compilation of the ‘Le Secret’ tour. From the fans’ lips to Lara’s ears…
