Evidence continues to accumulate concerning Lara’s improving condition. This past week she attended the new version of the musical Beauty and the Beast, undoubtedly in support of her friend Vincent Niclo who was taking over the role of the Beast. Here is a (translated) article of the proceedings (from

A Reassuring Smile
Ahh , as we like to see a big and bright smile on the face of Lara Fabian... For the presentation of the new version of the musical Beauty and the Beast, the singer glowed with happiness.
Last night, many music stars and media are pressed into the Mogador Theatre to see the first steps of Vincent Niclo in the musical Beauty and the Beast.
While the show enjoyed great success in Paris since the fall, the arrival of the tenor in the role of the Beast should allow this love story, which had many good hours on Broadway, to continue to seduce the public.
Among the guests at this evening full of enchantment, Estelle Denis and Raymond Domenech, very close on the red carpet (while the Lady still refuses to say yes to the Gentleman), Nicoletta, Michel Drucker, Olympus, or still Natasha St- Pier.
Lara Fabian, who was recently forced to cancel her tour for health reasons, was also present. Despite this personal setback, the star looks back on her feet. Smiling, Lara looked in great shape. At the end of the show, the performer of ‘Je t’aime’ even went on stage with the actors and singers of the musical. Which allowed her to ‘regain strength’ .
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Similarly, the news was picked up in Belgium, with basically the same (translated) story (http://www.rtl.be/people/people/news/764396/lara-fabian-va-mieux-elle-affiche-un-sourire-rassurant-photos) :

Lara Fabian gets better! She displays a reassuring smile.
In January, she saw herself forced to stop short her tour for health reasons. Lara Fabian finally seems better today!
Fans of the singer can be reassured: Lara Fabian quite slowly resumes service! Remember last January, she spoke of the "heavy treatment" she had to undergo after a hearing accident and announced having to stop her international tour for treatment. It was nearly two months ago and since then, the singer had been discreet, presumably determined to provide the best care!
Today, she comes back, but quite slowly ... She was last night at the Theatre Mogador to attend the new version of the performance of Beauty and the Beast and at her arrival, she displayed a big smile. Visibly calmer, she took the pose before the show and after the show, she got on stage for a moment with the actors and singers.

This is not a show with raucous music, but it is a musical, and (presumably with her doctor’s permission), it suggests Lara is now allowed to be in the vicinity of uplifting sounds. As the article says, quite slowly but definitely movement in the right direction! Lara posted the link to the Belgian article on her FB site, to emphasize that to her fans.
Under the assumption that support is still needed, there is an innovative project that has been organized to send to Lara audio messages of support. As explained at the ‘Lara Project’:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JteMRcAkmQ&list=UUSUnCz7VS252KGdI0v4Rahw
the idea is that generally people send her a written message; here one can speak directly to her. One prepares an encouraging audio of no more than 3-5 minutes and sends it via email to lara@seben.be; or one could instead call and leave an audio message at 071 970 990 or internationally 0032 71 970 990 (max three minutes). You can include your name and your country, and the message in its entirety will be sent to Lara on a CD. If needed, they will improve the sound.
Also, you should send via email to the same address a photo of yourself for the pocket of the CD, which will consist of a montage of all the people who have sent messages. In the email you need to include the phrase “I accept that my picture will be on the pocket”. The CD will be called “The Voice of the Angels”.
My guess is that Lara will be touched by the effort. However, since a CD can hold at most 80 minutes, that would probably hold only some 15-20 messages; will they send more than one CD? How many would Lara listen to?
Still in the ‘support mode’, Julie Clift McGraw produced a youtube video honoring the amazing pictures that the ‘Lara Fabian is Here” website has been providing. It is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-AnGwpslKw
And, while waiting for the ‘official’ video recap of the Le Secret tour, Julie also posted a nice version with pictures, available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsklB0G7aZ0#t=17
Mihaly Domsa, living in Budapest, Hungary, had an inspiration that he wanted to bring Lara to give a concert in his country. Not being an official concert promoter, and having no ‘insider’ access to the wheels of machinery on how to do such a thing, he investigated the procedure, and has written about his experiences (ultimately upended, for the moment, by Lara’s illness). While he calls it fun, another word for it could be ‘frustrating’ . For those interested in the journey – and who might have been tempted to take it themselves - his story is available at:
larafabiantohungary.com/
Lara may no longer be helping out on ‘The Voice’ but that doesn’t mean she is completely absent from French TV. One of the contestants, Maximillien Phillippe chose ‘Je t’aime’ to sing on the first season of l’Epreuve Ultime (“The Ultimate Test”). He had previously sung “Sorry seems to be the hardest word”, a song Lara has also sung, although did not write. Garou, the coach of the team, apparently was quite surprised at this choice, given that Maximillien generally does rock ballads. The winning contestants join the team of the ‘Voice 3”. The few fans of Lara who commented on it really liked his version, which then qualified him for advancement.
And so, regarding ‘alternate’ versions of Lara’s songs, the ‘best’ videos of the next three songs from Lara are:
I Am Who I Am: app.box.com/s/zpy2g6515p7juetjmj1b
I Guess I Loved You: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q13zh3lQU5U
: app.box.com/s/7x53b83fqsez7uudna1o
I Will Love Again: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxfl5fkbZ68
For ‘I Am Who I Am’, it was a close choice between this version, from ‘Tout Lara Fabian’ and the version in ‘From Lara With Love’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKeygPMFLhQ). The decision was based on the sophistication of the dancers with Lara on the ‘Tout’ show.
For ‘I Guess I Loved You’, two choices were made: one from the ‘Un Regard Neuf’ DVD for its visual creativity, and one from a concert in Montreal in 2007 for its close-up emotional intensity. There are other wonderful performances, including the recent show for Lebanon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSI8B3essvQ).
With ‘I Will Love Again’, once again there are many possibilities, with close to 60 videos available (some of which are lip-synched). The choice this time is from the show “From Lara with Love” due to the quality of the video and Lara’s overall sexiness . Nevertheless, for this song there are a number of other very special versions. One shouldn’t miss her spirited performances of it in Brazil, two of which are available here: (https://app.box.com/s/n583qnvolewd0bwd9k7g) (https://app.box.com/s/2e1oymb6j9uxn3msx65g); BTW, they were not lip-synched, Lara actually sang to the background music, karaoke –style (which some of the hosts actually made a point of noting, given that it was unusual in their country). Then there are a few where she actually sang it as a ballad – an excellent one is from ‘Le Grand Blond (https://app.box.com/s/9u7k16firhoyn1p0gx3k). From American TV, there is always the special attraction of her performance on the Donny and Marie Show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aTscxlIEs4); and for pomp and circumstance, there is the version done at the behest of fan-voting for the Spring Festival Global Gala in China (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNS_XBHe5ZY). Finally, while lip-synched versions are generally not included here, one has to be impressed by the performance at the Live Expo 2000 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=311WQH7eJXg) (one of the many with dancers).
There’s a great distance between appearing in the audience of a musical show and appearing and singing onstage with headphones amidst the sound, so this week's event should not lead us to expect Lara back in concert any time soon. But she’s already appeared to have travelled some distance from when her isolation was fairly complete. We can hope that everything will continue moving in the same fashion; after three months of what certainly appears to be progress, another five months ‘til the end of summer might seem to be sufficient. Problem is, she won’t really know until she ‘gets back into the water’, so as the articles emphasized, ‘slowly’ seems to be the operative word. However, things are definitely looking up!
