Lara's fans are still waiting for the fan-contributed video of the ‘Le Secret’ tour; instead, Lara’s primary interaction with them this past week, via ‘her people’, emphasized the Theatre de Paris website (https://www.facebook.com/theatredeparis) and their link to Lara’s showcase video from last year (http://bit.ly/1cPH6FE). It would seem as if the timing was somewhat random, governed by the Theatre’s own desire to provide the link. Why they chose this moment to do it is unclear – maybe a slow news week…
Otherwise there were no further messages to her fans, or photos. One presumes her treatment has continued, along with her relative isolation. As for its commercial implications, for those who are still following such things, the ‘Le Secret’ album survives on the Belgian charts, #186 after 47 weeks – only five more to go to reach its one year anniversary. The single for ‘La vie est la’, another venture for which diehard fans awaited a video, has never charted anywhere.
Nevertheless, Lara was not completely out of the public eye. The larafabianweb FB site, as well as various others, reported that she has become a member of the association "Children of the stars". Here is their (translated) press release:
--------------------------------
A Star Joins the ‘Child of the Stars’ (L’Enfant des Etoiles)
L’Enfant des Etoiles (Child of the Stars) sees its star-studded sky welcome a new star of a magnitude known worldwide.
Indeed, Lara Fabian became a member of our association and will be present, if she is available, at our big events!
Better, she will be pleased to attend the representation of MAÏRE on November 7. Better still, if she has gone back to the stage, she will sing with all the participants our final and therefore the song of L’Enfant des Etoiles.
It is with enthusiasm that Lara, after having discovered L’Enfant des Etoiles which was presented brilliantly to her by one of our founding members, decided to join us and to bring her talent and her fame to our projects that profit the child in difficulty.
She will be present at the inaugural evening/press conference of the project MAÏRE on Monday September 8 at the Chateau du Lac de Genval [Belgium].
------------------------------------------------------------
Project MAÏRE is a musical comedy done for the benefit of disadvantaged youth in Belgium and in developing countries. ‘L'Enfant des Etoiles’ also conducts other educational activities with the same goal. Hence this is certainly the type of organization with whom Lara is proud to associate. One can note that it continues her hope that she will be able to return to normal activities “à la rentrée”, at the end of the summer. One can also note the uncertainty inherent in the press release when it comes to the question of her singing. Their website and the press release can be found at:

In somewhat the same vein, the ‘La page des Fabianesk’ reported that Lara is one of the stars who will donate her gold record to the ‘Télévie’ telethon to be held on April 26 on RTL-TV. This is an organization that mobilizes treatments for children who are suffering from cancer, in Belgium and Luxembourg (Nolewenn Leroy is the patron of the event this year). Last year they brought in 8.7 million euros. RTL will put their radio and TV stations behind this cause, with various stars appearing. [Lara will not be one of them]. In the mode of noting other Lara fan sites, as has been done the last few weeks, don’t miss the site translated as ‘Sweet voice of an angel’, at:
www.facebook.com/LaraFabian.LaDouceVoixDunAnge
It features some very interesting pictures of Lara.
On to the next three ‘best’ videos of Lara’s songs:
Gottingen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne4cBSdaOD8
Humana: app.box.com/s/nhltyro60qvtrg7qidmc
I Am A-Wa: app.box.com/s/jqkxulem7ifqiy7zj3zc
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OP9VErSHHM
For ‘Gottingen’, the version chosen was from the ‘TLFM Font Leur Show” DVD – one can’t beat that train! Another very nice performance (without the holograms) was on the show ‘Les Années Bonheur’
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQYPVfw4duM)
For ‘Humana’ I count close to 90 videos of this song, so obviously there are many candidates . It is hard to overlook the wonderful performance Lara gave on the Live Nue show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d0moccJRPk); the amazing vocal performance at the Molson Centre (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RHNgIDIyLM); the interaction with the fans on the ‘Un Regard Neuf’ DVD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEJtUtSdLa4); the background dancers on various shows (e.g., La Fureur, app.box.com/s/oq5i938bb99au3nbc0u8). In fact, almost every time Lara sings this song she embraces its energy and her voice soars. One might make the case that no matter what the quality of a given concert otherwise, on this song she always rises to the occasion. The one chosen here is from Canada Day in 1997, as it so fully embodies the spirit of the song.
‘I Am A-Wa’, coincidentally, has somewhat of the same effect on Lara as ‘Humana’, in that she inevitably gains strength from it, and so performs it superbly. Hence almost all of the versions available are very well sung. Two were chosen, both primarily for their visual effects. The first is from the Showcase concert, and has the benefit of the multi-(fan)camera angles. The second is from her performance at Namur, where Lara’s interaction with her dress and her movement were unique on the foreshortened Le Secret tour.
Another week coming up when we can expect limited if any interaction with Lara publicly, although we have been surprised this past month. One thing we can count on: spring will arrive (in the N.H.), so, 'hope springs eternal'.
