Though we’ve had no direct word concerning Lara’s condition, evidence is accumulating that she is, indeed, improving. Consider the following:
**She has been seen out in public, in shops and restaurants. Restaurants, along with movie theaters, are one of the places she said in an interview at the beginning of this process (several months ago) that she could not go because of the noise.
**She was ‘allowed’ to leave on vacation for a week. Undoubtedly this was also to give her body time to recover from the corticosteroids she is receiving, but it suggested a liberal freedom of movement.
**Last week in her video to fans she indicated in the accompanying comment that she would see them ‘very soon’ (A très bientôt). Again, perhaps not be to be taken too literally, but indicative of her state of mind.
**This week she left a picture for fans, visible at:
with the accompanying (translated) text: “A big smile…from my heart to yours”.
And then she left another one, with the (translated) text: “A gourmand break…mmm the cup cakes ... some cups of coffee (?) ... too good ... tempted? Kisses, thinking of it with you”
Not the messages so much, but the fact that she is happy enough to think about communicating with fans again indicates things seem to be going well. It had been almost two months since her previous Instagram post.
**Finally, Fran Aitch reported that “Berlin Art Management” had just sent her an email indicating that they were “going ahead with the ticket sales” for Lara’s October concert. She noted that the company did not make them available in mid-January, at the time initially planned, and that they were waiting ‘til mid-March for final word. Apparently they got it, in the affirmative. Clearly Lara would not have given the go-ahead if she didn’t have a reasonable expectation that it would be possible.
The German concerts would be perfect for a ‘come-back’ in that she would probably be free to include whatever songs she felt would not be threatening to her - the ‘Le Secret’ tour is officially cancelled, and German audiences might not have any particular expectations. However, you may remember that she had scheduled five concerts from October 5-10, 2014 for Munich, Berlin, Offenbach, Dusseldorf and Hanover. Those tickets would all seem to be available at: www.berin-artmanagement.de/dm_tourlf14.html Will she really be able to give five concerts in six days?
No one can know for sure what her condition will be like in six months, and Lara may not really know until she starts preparing for and then giving concerts again. She perhaps had to make a decision concerning the German venues now (six months ahead of time) or risk losing the concert halls, yet the time-frame is what she said in an interview she considered realistic for her return. In the same interview she revealed she would be tested every month to determine the status of her hearing; the implication of all of the above, is that the tests have shown sufficient improvement for her to be optimistic. Who knows – we may see her back in the media much sooner than October, which would seem to be a necessity for her to even contemplate undertaking a concentrated concert schedule such as that listed for Germany.
In other news, ‘La page des Fabianesk’ posted a photo from Lara’s Makeup artist, Avital Assayag, with the accompanying text: “One of the privileged moments I am fortunate to share with Lara Fabian; the very talented singer and the incredible kind hearted woman”.

The same site also posted a photo taken by ‘Anaïs’ from a town Sanary-sur-Mer in southeastern France. It shows a small clothing store that has had painted on its wall (in translation) ‘One Day…Lara’. Very poignant. The picture is at:

The ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ website posted a Belgian article concerned with viewing the houses of the ‘stars’ from the sky, including Lara’s (which they used as the lead). The article is at:

Last week we noted the Lara Fabian UK page (https://www.facebook.com/LaraFabianUKFans). For those interested in another Lara Fabian page in English, you might check out the Lara Fabian Voice of Passion USA site, at

Continuing with a North American bent (although in French), there is a website for Lara from Montreal, at:

You can also see a number of wonderful photos of Lara on the website of Alla Sazhina, at: www.facebook.com/alla.sazhina/photos
Now for this week’s ‘best of’ selections:
Do You Know Where You’re Going To: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAju8URamDg
Ever Ever Land: app.box.com/s/vpe67nonw6few46h578g
Givin’ Up On You: app.box.com/s/fuhucibqzhn9sj8wrdy5
For ‘Do You Know Where You’re Going To’, the best version is clearly the professional one, from the TLFM Font Leur Show DVD.
For ‘Ever Ever Land’, ignoring the lip-synched versions, the choice here again is from the Perm complete show, with again a close second the video from Kiev (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQCus4jrV0I)
For ‘Givin’ Up On You, it was a very tough decision. The version chosen is from the ‘Baden Baden’ concert in Germany, primarily for the movement that Lara is allowed on the big stage. A very very close second is the video from ‘Tout Lara Fabian’ (https://app.box.com/s/zrupzkxwl0qhjsji0w3t), followed again, very closely by the one from the PBS show, ‘From Lara with Love’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa9N5Jgefh8) (which is the sharpest video). This example illustrates how arbitrary the ‘best’ selection often is (in contrast to the first title examined this week); probably any one of these three could be the choice, if a poll were taken.
We’ll see if Lara continues her gradually increasing interaction with fans, while her treatment (or at least ‘retreat’) goes on.
