There was news this past week that Lara is now vacationing/recuperating on the island of St. Malo, in Brittany. She will apparently spend a week there. That makes some sense, because it is known as a summer resort location, so if Lara wants privacy and quiet, going there in February will probably allow her to find both. This came of course not from Lara’s FB site, which probably wants to keep her personal life private, but from eagle-eyed fans, in particular Alexandra Chartier writing on the MZ FB site. [Interestingly, this whole topic, which went into some detail, was subsequently removed from that site. Three possibilities: either they found it was untrue; or, it was requested that they remove it, which would suggest it is true; or, given the degree of specificity, they simply thought it was too dangerous to keep out in the open – since Lara would still be there - and moved it to their closed section, which implies they think it is true. The general location given here should not be a problem – St. Malo has some 50,000 residents at this time of year].
Instead, Lara’s official site has been trying to maintain some contact with fans by posting messages relating to the various singles from ‘Le Secret’. As noted, last time they let fans know that ‘La vie est la’ was available on ‘Deezer’. This past week they reminded people that one year ago, the single for ‘Deux ils deux elles” was released…(What a difference a year makes, in Lara’s outlook on her career and its immediate possibilities…). They also provided (again) the link to the video of ‘Danse’. That brought up the topic fans have wondered about, whether there will really be a video for ‘La vie est la’ - the end of January had been mentioned. The other two singles had videos promised, and they arrived, but then Lara was not out of commission when those were made. ‘La vie est la’ has still not placed on the French single charts, and it’s not in the top 50 in Belgium, in either sales or airplay. ‘Le Secret’ is still on the Belgium album charts, having dropped to #110.
On the topic of sales, Nicolas Boucaud, with the MZ FB site, posted a link to a note concerning the fate of ‘Cover albums’ by French artists over the past five years. Lara actually ranks 30th with "Toutes les femmes en moi" , having sold 77.000 copies in France. That’s pretty much what she has achieved with “Le Secret”, which got much, much better reviews. One can interpret that to mean that reviews mean nothing, i.e., Lara has a core cadre of fans who will buy whatever she puts out, regardless of the reviews, and the reviews of Lara’s albums mean nothing to those not part of that core. The list is at:

The company ‘Neo Prod’, responsible for audiovisual productions, received some attention this past week on Lara’s fan sites. They produced the teaser for the album ‘Le Secret’ back in April of last year, and also worked on the teaser for the Paris Showcase in 2012. Apparently the French subsidiary ‘Neo Prod France’ is associated with Gerard Pullicino. The teaser for ‘Le Secret’, which can also be seen on youtube, is available on their website at:
www.neoprod.fr/?portfolio=32
and the one for the Paris Showcase is at:

Lara is also featured prominently in their 2014 advertisement video for their production company, at: vimeo.com/83172502
Of particular interest now is that this last video shows some professional footage of the ‘Le Secret’ tour (at 1:23-1:30), and the question is, where did it come from? Thierry Palomares on the MZ FB site states that this organization actually filmed three concerts of the tour at Lara’s request, two of them being the shows in Namur and Liege. This would seem to belie her comment that no such shows had ever been recorded for a DVD (necessitating her call for fans to send theirs). He says the problem was that she was not happy with any of the three. If true, it’s not clear what she hopes to obtain from the fans’ videos that the professional organization was unable to provide…and also brings to mind her dissatisfaction with the Mlle. Zhivago film, although undoubtedly for different reasons.
Mladen Rajićhas been providing a number of instrumentals of Lara’s songs, good for karaoke. His general link is:

As you could see, there are also complete albums available.
Lara’s fan sites are continuing to post messages of support, or, in this case, Valentine’s Day cards for Lara. A particularly beautiful one, from the ‘Lara Fabian - PHQ’ FB site, can be found at:

In that same vein, you may remember the video that Russian fans made for Lara celebrating the ‘Le Secret’ tour, entitled ‘Don’t Give Up’, visible at www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYP5j0rBf5I&feature=youtu.be
The ‘Lara Fabian connecting people’ FB site reported that they had gotten news that Lara and her family had seen it, and it had a great emotional impact. These types of activities may be as helpful in promoting healing as any amount of corticosteroids…
The primary activity on the fan sites, those that have had any recent activity at all, has been fans posting links to their favorite videos. And with that in mind… here is the latest edition of ‘the best of’ videos :
Bambina: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSBrawPX2v0
Broken Vow: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjAK2fYuGXk
Ca Casse: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V48LVfjYys
For ‘Bambina’, the choice was of the ‘bonus’ selection from the Live performance of the Nue tour DVD. Not only is it beautifully sung, and Lara looks wonderful, it is delivered uniquely ! This is one of those songs for which there are numerous videos that could have been picked. Of the many with Jean-Felix Lalanne on the guitar, my selection would be the version from the program ‘La Derniere Chance’ (https://app.box.com/s/89rbww545fc2c6mf8p5c), followed by the one from ‘Top of the Pops’ (https://app.box.com/s/timbq94qilg1jcgeqigj) and then from ‘Little Friends’ (https://app.box.com/s/fa2tfcanaep7ortg4dsi). The most elaborate is the ‘Un Regard Neuf’ DVD version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5UfQiOtqJw), and the most haunting, the live version from the ‘En Toute Intimite’ DVD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJTg3bv6-C0).
For ‘Broken Vow’, this video comes from the ‘Tout Lara Fabian’ show. Wonderfully sung, with a complete orchestra behind it, she reaches the peak! A close second would be the version from the PBS show, ‘From Lara with Love’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-IvqDEAF7M).
For ‘Ca Casse’, this is from the TLFM Font Leur Show’ DVD – again, the holograms of this song ‘with Maurane’ on the DVD rule! The videos of performances from her other various shows are all less visible versions of this.
[BTW, I noticed in retrospect that the youtube version of ‘Amoureuse’ chosen last week had some noise; a better one is at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=crd-Fks-4FA]
Hopefully, Lara is getting the time to recuperate from her treatments as part of the plan, and that they see it is working. Spring in the Northern Hemisphere is officially only about a month away, the season of new beginnings – maybe things will be clearly looking up for her by then.
