Lara was on her health break this past week leading up to Christmas, so it’s not clear she would have had concerts anyway; in past years this week has often been quiet.
She did however get into the Christmas spirit by telling her own Christmas story, in association with a promo for the charity foundation ‘Les petits frères de pauvres” (http://noel.petitsfreres.asso.fr/). It helps to support isolated elderly people - almost 20% of people older than 60 fall into that category in France. Lara Fabian Romanian site provided English subtitles for it, available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh6U6oYUb4Q
In the same spirit, a number of the fan sites are getting together for special holiday greetings/gifts for Lara and/or her fans). The pictures/videos are available, e.g., at:

One special video generally brought up at this time of year is Lara’s rendition of ‘White Christmas’ (from her PBS Special of March 2001 but in the extended version shown only in Europe). It is available at:

Over the years, there have been many suggestions by fans that Lara should do a Christmas album; it would seem to require her to obtain a ‘commercial bent’, so far not greatly in evidence…Another possible candidate would be ‘Petit papa Noel’:

Lara did have one media appearance, on "VIP RFM" (a podcast of the French broadcast will appear next week on its site, www.rfm.fr/chronique/les-interviews-vip-de-vincent-cerutti). A picture of her with the host is available at:

Apparently she spoke about her upcoming concert at Carnegie Hall. While it will be the ‘Le Secret” concert, it appears she will add ‘Adagio’ to her setlist as well as some other songs (maybe from her English albums), but that there are no duos planned at this time [one can imagine what they could be, if other singers are around…].
Perhaps this concert will also serve as a prototype for Lara’s appearances in other non-French speaking countries. She is continuing to expand such venues on her future concert schedule. Previously it was noted that she would be appearing in Finland and Bulgaria for the first time. Now she has added Germany to the list, scheduling five concerts from October 5-10, 2014. (http://www.berin-artmanagement.de/dm_tour14.html) for Munich, Berlin, Offenbach, Dosseldorf and Hanover [she is assuming that by this time she will be able to do five concerts in six days…]. While they will not be her first full concerts in that country – you may remember the televised Baden Baden performance back when she was pushing her first English album - she has not been back for more than a decade except for a brief TV appearance with her ill-fated second English album (a lip-synced version of ‘No Big Deal’). These concerts are still listed as part of “Le Secret” tour, and may very well be so, with just some additions to make them more relevant to the audience (as she did in Russia and now perhaps in New York). Some fans suspect that they could also serve as introduction to the second multi-language album with Igor Krutoi, that has been rumored to be released that fall. That too of course is possible, but Lara has rarely taken advantage of such opportunities to push new albums, generally staying within her established tour constraints.
BTW, in preparation for this next album with Krutoi, a new website has been opened, ‘Mlle. Zhivago 2’, which can be found at:
www.facebook.com/groups/240531152782384/
Though Lara has said there will actually be no songs from ‘Mlle. Zhivago’ on it, it looks like she will forever be associated with that moniker as far as her work with Krutoi is concerned, at least in the minds of some fans. The site will undoubtedly become more relevant as the time for that album to appear approaches…
And speaking of websites, for those of you who aren’t familiar with it, there’s a site devoted to pictures and art posters of Lara; it’s at www.facebook.com/pages/Lara-Fabian-PHQ/353946178085395.
And speaking of photos, a nice one in anticipation of Lara’s upcoming visit to Canada can be seen at: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=597103590343309&set=a.168982793155393.43222.166959643357708&type=1&theater
It was noted by Thierry Palomares on the Mlle. Zhivago (1) site that L’agence Expresse’ is offering subscriptions to various journals, and the cover they chose for ‘Paris Match’ was the one with Lara

He also noted that Lara’s photograph appears in the latest issue of ‘Public look In and Out’:

She certainly did have a high profile this past year. Lara also made the list as one of the ‘100 Belgians of the year’ in one press listing (http://www.larafabianweb.com/images/scans/larasudpress.png). The reasons given were her: appearing nude; getting married; being on the jury of ‘The Best’; and having the fear of going deaf. Not contributing in any major way was the release of her new album…that many fans think has not been sufficiently highlighted in her numerous press interviews (hence the somewhat disappointing sales, currently #185 in France, #62 in Belgium). A ‘year in review’ will appear here next week in a separate post from the weekly News Update.
The website ‘Tournee le Secret de Lara Fabian’, at
www.facebook.com/groups/579411062114567/
asks that if you take any pictures of Lara at the upcoming concert in New York to please send them a copy along with a few words; or just send a comment for Lara. They will try to put together a montage for Lara. I’ve also opened a new thread for those who go to the concert and want to provide their review, general comments, etc. Perhaps I’ll see you there! And even if not, here’s wishing a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to Lara and to all of you!
