A quiet week for Lara as her break between concerts continued. Instead there was a focus on promotion and future shows.
Lara beefed up her Canadian portion of the tour a bit this past week, with the announcement that her concert in Montreal will take place at the ‘Place des Artes’ on January 17th (https://billetterie.laplacedesarts.com/evtarifs.aspx?owner=123&event=11995&language=FR). We’ve seen her there before, and as several other people have noted, it has been a great place for her sound. It follows by two days her scheduled appearance in Quebec; the Ottawa show will probably be announced shortly, for the same time frame. As for her other North American venue, by my estimate Lara’s Carnegie Hall concert is now some 45% sold.
Lara certainly takes the Canadian release seriously, however brief her excursion there will be. ‘Yoann Martial’ provided a picture of a big poster announcing the new album in Old Quebec. It can be seen at:

In addition, the ‘dance-version’ remix of ‘Deux ils, deux elles’ became available along with the Canadian release. It can be heard (thanks to Josh for the link) at:

There’s some more info about the woman who worked with Lara on this remix (http://suivi.musicor.mu/v/443/72a165c3c3c2715476fc21c4adb951dfd1d8b363a8000036); in translation:

Misstress Barbara is a Canadian electro-artist known internationally. She has played in the greatest clubs in the world and has worked with some of the greatest artists such as Bjork, the Prodigy or again Tiestro. She has received many awards as a testimonial to her talent like the MIMI awards 2001 (Montreal International Music Initiative) Melieure Revelation DF to the UK Underground Music Awards or more recently, a nomination for the 2010 JUNO Awards. Her career has been meteoric for the last 14 years and the artist appears as a veritable pioneer.
it is not surprising that these two women out of the ordinary course come together to offer a song that will appeal to the public by considering the current craze for this piece.
--------------------------------------------------------
Fans seem to be split about this version, with some suggesting it would have been a bigger hit in France than the original, while others suggesting it is not ‘really Lara’. In her career, Lara has had a number of remixes of this nature, perhaps the most versions being of ‘I Will Love Again’.
Speaking of dance-rhythms, back in France several fans have actually heard Lara’s second single, ‘Danse’ on RFM and MFM radio, in a somewhat shortened version. The video clip for it, according to FNAC, should become available on the 25th of this month. However, Lara put the following (translated) message on her FB and Twitter accounts (https://twitter.com/LfabianOfficial) this morning: “Meet me at the end of the day on Twitter ". The prevailing opinion among some fans is that Lara may be introducing the video then. More likely, however, is that this is the ‘contest’ that Lara has said will take place 48 hours before each concert, in which people get a chance to answer questions concerning ‘Le Secret’ so as to win a place to meet with her at that concert. The timing is right, before her next concert on the 3rd.
On the French charts, ‘Le Secret’ is essentially unchanged, at 161, while in Belgium it dropped 7 positions to 28th. ‘Danse’ has yet to make it onto the singles chart.
In case you didn’t see it, ‘la page des Fabianesk’ posted an early 1986 TV video of Lara, singing ‘Nuit blanches’ (thanks to Paula for emphasizing it). It was said to be her first TV appearance and can be seen at:

In the same vein, Marc Lechs posted a video of his pictures, including some of Lara, from the same year to the background of Lara singing ‘La lettre anonyme’, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVC04vblsjo
Both songs display her beautiful singing voice at the age of 16.
The ‘Ranker’ website has lists of the ‘best singers’, as voted upon by the audience. One of them, ‘the best female vocalists of all time’, at m.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-female-voice-ever?page=1
has Lara at number 14 at the time of this writing (Barbra Streisand is currently first). Another, ‘The Greatest New Female Vocalists of the Past 10 Years’, for those with less than 20 years of musical experience (for which Lara does not really qualify, yet she’s there anyway) is at www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/greatest-female-vocalists-of-the-past-10-years. Lara is number 40 on that list. Clearly the two are inconsistent, but if you want to vote, just go to those sites and indicate your preference by clicking on thumbs up or thumbs down for one or more of the singers.
Lara returns to the stage later this week with four more concerts, split between Belgium and France. This off again - on again staggering of her concerts will continue through next June. It is likely that the length of these ‘News Updates’ will mirror that schedule .
