For Lara, this past week firmly ended her summer and began the tour that will occupy the next nine months of her life.
Of most importance was the beginning of the new tour, the first shows being in Namur, Belgium and then in Liege. Here’s the setlist for Liege (thanks to Sebastien Schmidt):
1. Le secret;2. Danse;3. Un ange est tombé;4. Amourexique;5. Que j'étais belle;
6. La vie est là;7. Humana;8. J'y crois encore;9. Deux ils deux elles;10. Je t'aime;
11. Il est lune;12. Putain de grand amour;13. Je rêve d'une étoile;14. J'ai zappé;
15. Immortelle;16. Mirage;17. L'enfant du Gwenverd;18. I am A-Wa;19. Mon désir
As can be seen, almost 2/3 of the show consisted of songs from ‘Le Secret’, with the rest from more than a decade ago. Videos (of varying quality) of some of these are available; I call your attention to the following, first from Namur, of ‘La vie est la’:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rcQxssceg ‘
Then from Liege, ‘Putain de grand amour’…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4h5go-K2YY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dn4h5go-K2YY&app=desktop
[BTW, there is still no indication as to whether ‘Evergig’ is going to be soliciting videos from these or other Lara concerts, despite some earlier indications when the Paris showcase was being produced. In a generic statement, their website suggests people send in videos, but doesn’t specify which shows in particular they will make an effort to create. In that respect, it is poorly organized – if it is being done in conjunction with the artist, as they maintain, shouldn’t they let the concert hall know about it, so the videos don’t have to be taken surreptitiously? The videos we’ve seen so far, in general, would not be sufficient in number or quality to produce a full concert].
Lara is definitely in good voice and looked beautiful. This is her musical team:

Some that things that did not work so well in Namur were changed in Liege, so it is still a work in progress. At times she tried to introduce symbolic elements, wearing a beautiful peacock coat for ‘Que j’etais belle’, for example, in the first show, (which some fans thought encumbered her and affected her singing):

Then the peacock costume in action:

By the second show, the dancer wore it.

In Namur, Lara also danced with a coat rack at the beginning of ‘Putain de grand amour’, imitating a scene from the movie ‘Fantasia’, in effect ‘giving life’ to the coat rack. Lara sometimes overestimates the ability of the fans to pick up her more abstract connections , but one has to give her credit for trying to be creative!
In conjunction with this ‘magic’, her husband got a chance to appear, rewarded by Lara with a kiss:

Here’s one fan’s (translated) report (from the MZ website):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben Martinod
Good morning all!
I attended last night the first Liégeoise performance of 'Le Secret’ of Lara Fabian in this magnificent theater. The show is at the beginning, as you know, of ’Le secret’ tour. I was pleasantly surprised by the staging (sets, choreography, magic) that fit perfectly in places such as theaters. Lara was in great shape and very pretty (although I'm not a fan of her black gloves on 'Danse'). Lara, master of her voice, offered some beautiful soaring vocals as I love them! The Interludes all make sense on stage. New versions of Humana, J’y crois encore, Immortal, are just sublime and in my opinion especially on J’y crois encore. Lara tries to present re-orchestrations without altering the melody. At the time of 'Deux ils, deux elles', by contrast, I was less sensitive to the distribution of feathers ... For being the most emblematic song with a strong message of love and tolerance for all, in my opinion, the public adheres less and less "connected", attentive because this is normal, they wants to touch, see Lara and maybe even have a pen from her hand ... I do not deny that I was a little scared reading your comments yesterday but finally I put a 8.6 to Lara and her Secret that makes sense on stage! I wish you all spend, like me, have a good time and enjoy and savor every minute!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lara gave an interview prior to her first performance in Liege (http://lameuse04.blogs.sudinfo.be/archive/2013/09/14/interview-lara-fabian-comme-a-la-maison-79997.html). Here’s a translation:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interview - Lara Fabian: "In Liege, I feel like I’m at home"
Lara Fabian began her new tour this week in Belgium. She'll be playing tonight but also tomorrow night on the stage of Liege Forum . Between two rehearsals, she gave us an interview where she talks about her tour , her history with the Belgian public but also the adventure " The Best " , the program whose final was broadcast last night on TF1.
His latest album "The Secret" , released in April 2013 , had risen to the forefront of the French charts. It is with this success that the Belgian singer takes the path of a new tour that will go through all the cities of France , just after Belgium . "I've always started my tour in Belgium ," cites the native Etterbeek . " It's a ritual that lasts for 15 years. This is my way to reassure myself. I am in somerthing of a fever in these moments . There is anxiety in me. Fortunately , I am surrounded musically and it's a real pleasure to be able to find myself on stage. In Belgium , I am received like at home . As a child of the country. As a mother sets the table for her cubs when they return to the fold. There is a lot of love in this relationship with the Belgian public. " If Lara Fabian will present his new songs , she does not forget her first success. “They are key songs that the public expects . These old songs have been adapted to the story I tell on stage with this new album." Can we expect duets on stage as was the case in the past ? "There will be no duets on this tour. It is a desire on my part. I wanted to be alone on stage with the public. This is a story between them and me . "
"The Voice Why not ... "
Yesterday ended the adventure of " The Best ", a show that elected during the summer the best artist . Lara Fabian took the part for the first time as a juror "I had a lot of fun in this adventure. I really have no regrets. For once, I could do my job without being the center of attention. This has inspired me to repeat the experience.” In an eventual season 2 ? "I've heard talk but I think I will still be touring when there are future recordings. " There remains 'The Voice' ... "Why not! It would be nice because then I would find myself at the heart of my passion and my profession." Who knows, this is a discrete invitation that could not leave the patrons of TF1 and RTBF indifferent.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The outfits that Lara is wearing for these shows , however creative, will soon be getting an upgrade. Bernard Depoorter’s website had the following (translated) message:
---------------------------------------------
There will be very beautiful Bernard Depoorter outfits in the coming weeks for the tour of Lara Fabian and dresses very couture modern rock or brittle! For the only time the dress Gypsy blue chiffon and leather corset is on tour. And the black caftan in chiffon with blue logo painted hand in the back."
----------------------------------------------
In addition, Lara’s URL boutique is currently ‘in development’ but it apparently will have items for sale related to the tour: teashirts with logs of Lara or ‘Le Secret’, mugs, pictures, as well as other itmes, like lighters, pen, scarf, candle, etc.. Presumably some subset of these will be available at some of the concert venues as well. One can see them displayed (thanks to the MZ FB site) on the last pages of the tour booklet:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151942076039734&set=p.10151942076039734&type=1&theater
When it’s ready, it will appear not only on her official site, but also at ‘Fan Avenue’: www.fanavenue.com/
Other ‘tour news’ of interest was the first day of sales for Lara’s concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, which took place yesterday. Lara made a special effort to call it out on her FB site, so she probably feels she has a lot riding on it. As expected (and hoped for), the best seats sold out quickly, within a few hours, primarily through the internet. The seating capacity for the house is some 2800; my estimate is that some 800 seats (or 28%) were sold in the first 24 hours.
And finally, Lara has initiated a ‘contest’:
-------------------------------------------
Win a meeting with Lara Fabian on the tour
September 16, 2013 at 5:15 am
Go to the Twitter page and try to answer questions quickly put online 48 hours prior to the event!
twitter.com/LFabianOfficial
For this it is very simple, you are already in possession of your seat for the concert, make an appointment 48 hours before the date on the Twitter page of Lara Fabian and discover at the end of the day a question rapidly in relation to "Le Secret ". The fastest person to answer wins a meeting with Lara Fabian at the planned concert 48 hours later.
The day after the concert send us your photo with Lara and a small text on your encounter that will be featured on the official Facebook page.
CAUTION: It is imperative to have your seat at the concert to participate and be able to come!
For example, the first issue on September 16 to win a meeting on the date of September 18 Charleroi.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the “summer’s end”: that came with the broadcast of the finale of ‘The Best’, and it saved its best audience for the end as well, with some 5.2 million spectators (27% of the audience). As usual it is available to ‘out of country’ viewers on several sites, including at:
www.larafabianbrasil.com.br/2013/09/the-best-le-meilleur-artiste-assista-ao_15.html
[For those who didn’t see the previous show, it’s at:
www.larafabianbrasil.com.br/2013/09/the-best-le-meilleur-artiste-assista-ao_11.html ]
The ultimate winners were the Canadian acrobats ‘Chilly and Fly’. IMHO there were numerous wonderful acts on this show; Lara’s characterization at the beginning that these were all accomplished professionals proved accurate. Nevertheless, all the scoring was relative, and Lara proved to be a fairly harsh critic, at times.
To summarize Lara’s appearance on the show and its effect, the audience got a chance to see her as a real human being, with all her strengths and weaknesses, rather than the caricature some in the press had made of her. She also is now firmly embedded in the public’s mind – no longer a ‘forgotten has-been’. Just the fact that she was chosen by the station and program to appear has to have raised her status, and to be a ‘judge’ also imbues one with an aura of accomplishment and importance. Lara probably did this for more than just these benefits, but one has to think they have come her way.
On the program Lara received another gold record in an emotional presentation (see her response at: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=554860171228280&set=a.104315726282729.2679.103390503041918&type=1&theater),
this time for passing the 75,000 mark for ‘Le Secret’ in France (according to Nicolas Boucaud on the MZ FB site, 75,000 have been distributed; 49,700 have been sold). It is actually back on the charts, at #204 in France.
The album is up 3 places to #35 in Belgium, where it has also gone ‘gold’, with more than 15,000 sales. A video of her being presented the award can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=548631205190548&set=vb.166959643357708&type=2&theater
We’ll see whether the tour provides a boost. Additional sales will soon be possible in North America, as ‘Le Secret’ is now currently on pre-order in Canada.
When Lara was on “69 minutes sans chichis” some five months ago, there was an incident that occurred which was resurrected this past week, probably because of the start of her tour. Here’s the translated description, from www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-pro-de-la-fellation-pas-peu-fiere-de-son-grand-garage_a128146/1. [Warning: this segment is ‘adults only’… it’s being covered here because it was brought up to her this week, and may be again].
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: Pro fellatio, very proud of her large garage''!''
We knew that Lara Fabian had humor, but not that she could be a little naughty. Yet the singer of ‘Deux ils, deux elles”, literally let loose on Belgian television. Invited on a female talk show called ‘69 minutes without fuss’ on RTBF2, the bride made some sexual references that were far from unnoticed!
After a commercial break, the returning set is in good spirits. Lara Fabian, all smiles, prepares to enjoy Black Forest cake when the host starts it: "It's time for a little glutony and with that Lara is ready to go, I want to say that it's time for a little treat!" The tone is set.
The singer, who came to promote her album ‘Le Secret, is still holding in her hands her famous cake which, needless to say, is in a phallic form. Suddenly, she mimes the gesture of swallowing it in a single bite.
Dying of laughing, she then goes on cutting her dessert with a fork and exclaims: "You have to cut inside for the cream!" The sexual innuendo is hardly hidden and that, to the delight of the host, who does not hesitate to heat the singer a little more still by daring: "You were very clever with your mouth there for a few moments ."A remark to which the very liberated Lara responds: "Ah bah that, it appears so yes. One must assume its qualities [...] I have a large garage as you can see!", while opening up her mouth to the maximum. Obviously not ready to stop there, the juror of the show TF1 ‘The Best: the best artist’, which saw the victory of Chilly and Fly Friday night, goes to confession altogether: "One always cares about my mouth when I sing, saying ‘she makes faces', 'she sings strong', but it helps me in some circumstances. I have very mobile features. " Certainly, it is her husband, magician Gabriel di Giorgio, who must be happy!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some fans wondered whether she had had too much red wine, or was just feeling confident/liberated. Lara’s already been asked about it, and made light of it; in any event, she has often said she’s a ‘sensualist’, and the public once again has a chance to view Lara as a real human being. It’s also another example of there never being a dull moment for Lara’s PR person when Lara's on the air live!
There is a short video of the ‘Télé Coudekerque Fete de la nature et de la Flandre’ that took place on the 7-8th. It is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhvVUQtQc-Y&feature=share
Lara appears before the enthusiastic crowd a little before the 6 minute mark and, from the video, would appear to have been the star attraction, although there were a lot of other events.
A longer version, with some 16 minutes of Lara’s performance is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOpfMXQMbTA
Lara appears after about the 11:30 mark.
Giora Linenberg gave an interview while at this event in which he talked about working with Lara and writing two of the songs for ‘Le Secret’. He said he had heard her music and longed to work with her; the opportunity to meet her came when he was in Montreal with the symphony orchestra, introduced himself and gave her a CD of his songs that he thought she might like. It took a few years, but eventually came to fruition. He is returning to Israel to be a conductor for a presentation of ‘My Fair Lady’, and will rejoin Lara’s ‘Le Secret’ tour in October, 2014.
Lara is continuing her work as a 'Godmother' in the fight against AIDS. She is teaming up with her hairdresser David Lucas, as spokespersons for ‘Hairdressers against AIDS’ at the World Day against AIDS (http://www.coiffeurscontrelesida.fr/la-marraine/). This vast awareness campaign will be pushed in over 5000 salons. She says, "The hairdresser is not only a shaper of image but also a raiser of consciousness." A wonderful picture of the two of them is available at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151848468017417&set=a.398533517416.164839.382393522416&type=1&theater
Upcoming shows this next week are in Charleroi (9/18) and Brussels (9-20,21). Then Lara is off for two weeks before her final autumn show in Belgium, then on to France. One hopes she is excited to be ‘back on the road’ with this new production, and that it will let everybody appreciate the quality of her new material.

this time for passing the 75,000 mark for ‘Le Secret’ in France (according to Nicolas Boucaud on the MZ FB site, 75,000 have been distributed; 49,700 have been sold). It is actually back on the charts, at #204 in France.
The album is up 3 places to #35 in Belgium, where it has also gone ‘gold’, with more than 15,000 sales. A video of her being presented the award can be seen at:

Lara appears before the enthusiastic crowd a little before the 6 minute mark and, from the video, would appear to have been the star attraction, although there were a lot of other events.
A longer version, with some 16 minutes of Lara’s performance is available at:

Upcoming shows this next week are in Charleroi (9/18) and Brussels (9-20,21). Then Lara is off for two weeks before her final autumn show in Belgium, then on to France. One hopes she is excited to be ‘back on the road’ with this new production, and that it will let everybody appreciate the quality of her new material.
