The news this week was dominated, of course, by Lara’s announcement of her wedding. It wasn’t completely unexpected, given the rumors from last week, but happened more quickly than anyone had anticipated. Lara posted only the one photo on her official FB page, or her Instagram page for that matter, but at least one other is available, from Paris Match:
www.parismatch.com/People/Musique/Lara-Fabian-jeune-mariee-520241
As might be expected, the event has gotten a lot of press attention, with many publications sending her felicitations, intrigued also by the unexpected (and private) nature of it. For example, an article at: www.ozap.com/actu/tf1-lance-the-best-le-meilleur-artiste-le-vendredi-26-juillet/447935 explained that Lara was married June 28 in Sicily, saying no other details were available. No announcement of honeymoon plans, either. This and other articles emphasized that Lara herself had made the announcement on her Facebook page, again presumably to preclude ‘snooping’ by the press (as we know, rumors were already rampant).
A few columnists have picked up on the fact that the marriage was ‘a secret one’, and we know that in her dedication of the album ‘Le Secret’ to him, she said, “I dedicate to you ‘Le Secret’; mine: its you…“ And continuing with this theme, it’s remarkably difficult to find out anything more about the groom, even something as basic as his age (he does look younger than her). For someone who is presumably in the entertainment business, he does not appear to have any publicized social media exposure, or internet presence. Even purepeople didn’t appear able to expand on the simple fact of the marriage. So in this case, it would appear that ‘life’ is imitating ‘art’…
In other news, Lara was featured in another parismatch article. We already had discussed her photo with Miss France, but another one is available with ‘the precision arobatic demonstration team’, alongside Miss France 2013, André Uzan, and Sylvie Tellierat. It can be seen at:

A very complimentary article was also written (http://www.lemague.net/dyn/spip.php?article8517) and, on this slow news day, here is the translation:

My Meeting with Lara Fabian
Philippe Chauveau-Beaubaton
Finally, a little ray of sunshine on the fiftieth edition, of the repetitive and boring, International Airshow of Le Bourget , with a very nice meeting in the person of the sweet and elegant Lara Fabian, dressed all in white, invited by André Uzan on the prestigious and luxurious Breitling stand.
The first three days of this crazy week were rather sad and rainy, the air shows short and loud, until the arrival, this Thursday, June 20, 2013, of the bubbly Lara Fabian. Even those who do not necessarily appreciate this wonderful singer were all unanimous that this talented woman commands respect by her kindness as well as her authentic simple side, smiling very much.
After climbing the stairs leading to the Breitling terrace, which overlooks the entire room, at the side of Marine Lorphelin, our Miss France 2013, Lara Fabian has to pose for the photo at the private lunch and highly prized Breitling Paris-Match. For the occasion, André Uzan, the CEO of Breitling France had hoped that his hostesses also assume the sash of Miss France.
But the most exuberant was, in my humble opinion, Lara Fabian. Being with this woman, even for a few instances, is a moment of pure happiness. Lara Fabian is not only beautiful, whether she is dressed or naked and no offense to my good colleague the mocking Yann Barthes, but also very funny and full of fine humor. She is an original, a Belgian as I appreciate them, and above all a very beautiful woman more gorgeous than she imagines herself.
Despite all the criticism, often unjustified, I can assure you that Lara Fabian is definitely a safe bet of the French song and has an exceptional personality. She is neither overwhelming nor contemptuous and knows how to stay in tune with her interlocutors, which is rare in this world of certain overrated particular people.
Think what you want, it is your absolute right, as for me I love Lara Fabian and now I know why.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is good that Lara has something else to occupy her time, and perhaps renew public interest, because her new CD is fading away. The article at ozap.com said that ‘Le Secret’ has sold nearly 70,000 copies. Presumably they are counting numbers of disc sold in all countries. In France, as of last week, sales totaled ~45,000 copies, and, after 10 weeks, it was ranked 99th (71st in physical CDs); in Belgium it is currently #20. Not to beat a dead horse, but even TLFM had only dropped to 60th after 10 weeks in France. However, other than waiting for ‘La rentree’ when Lara’s tour begins – which is now listed as having 120 dates – Lara has another chance to regain some traction. The show she has been working on, ‘The Best”, apparently will be broadcast on French TV1 on July 26. An article, including a picture with Lara as one of the inducements to watch, can be found at:
www.ozap.com/actu/tf1-lance-the-best-le-meilleur-artiste-le-vendredi-26-juillet/447935
Caveat: some sites are still reporting that it will be aired September 1, but at this point, the July date appears more likely. Whenever it appears, it has the capability of boosting sales by illustrating Lara’s innate charisma (as depicted in the article translated above). Lara will not actually be in town at that time, as she is to appear the following day at the New Wave festival in Latvia
Of more minor interest, there will be an AICOM awards ceremony held on Sunday, July 14 in Paris; no word yet as to whether Lara will be there (one supposes it depends on her honeymoon plans…).
Wherever she goes, let’s hope for the best, that she may have finally found a soul mate.
