Lara had another plethora of media appearances this past week. Chief among them, at least perhaps as far as posterity is concerned, were the concluding episodes of her interview with ptitblog and Julien Piraud, who one must say did a great job focusing on key points in Lara’s career, both strengths and weaknesses. For her part, using the (translated) words of ptitblog itself, “More than ever, Lara Fabian opens up on her career. You'll discover that besides being a perfectionist artist and perpetual renewer, the woman is as sincere as straightforward. She agreed to meet my questions without stonewalling and return to the most painful moments of her career and her life as a woman.”
Yes, Lara did make mistakes in the past, but she was young; and she will continue to make mistakes, because she is human . But the overall impression one comes away with from these interviews is of a thoughtful woman living her life the best way she can, with great enthusiasm for it. The integrated version of all five interviews is available at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10io03_saga-integrale-lara-fabian-sans-secrets_music?start=157#.Ua1Bluvag-w
It is of course in French (and is another ripe candidate for English subtitles).
As far as the last three episodes released this past week are concerned, number 3 was titled ‘Unrequited’. One would have thought it would have been primarily concerned with ‘falling out of love’, but in fact it covered a range of disappointments, including the Guignols (with a video clip) and Alan Badoev/the Mademoiselle Zhivago film (with more clips), i.e., occurrences that had disturbed Lara in her career. It was not really concerned with her personal life - the one area where the reviewer appeared to go easy with Lara, although the pain in ‘Parce que tu pars’ was touched upon. Rick Allison was featured, but then again he played a big role in her career. [Note that these categories were not determined ahead of time, but were used as generalizations to lump together different aspects of the conversation]. It’s available at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10a59p_saga-lara-fabian-sans-secrets-webisode-3-desamour_music#.Ua1B1evag-w
The fourth episode was entitled “Family”, and as expected, Lara talks about Lou, her father Pierre (who also talks about her) and her mother Luisa. A nice segment shows a younger Luisa and Lara looking over some family photos. But family to Lara contains close friends, so her best friend Nathalie gets her say, and her concerts in the Kremlin with Igor Krutoi are also featured. It can be seen at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10ch43_saga-lara-fabian-sans-secrets-webisode-4-famille_music#.Ua1CB-vag-w
The last episode was called “Happiness”, obviously the subject of ‘Le Secret’, especially how to reach it. To Lara, it’s all about acceptance of oneself. The highlight of this segment was a review, through videos, of Lara’s career, including each of the albums that in one way or another were available in France (including EWIM, but not the Russian version of Mademoiselle Zhivago). Seeing these one after another emphasizes, especially for those of us who get caught up in the day-to-day machinations, what a great star Lara really is. It’s available at:

In other events, Lara’s performance o on Radio France Bleu in Paris aired during the week. She was one of several artists featured at this special concert. The audio of Lara’s four songs is available at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10ate5_lara-fabian-en-live-audio-a-paris-france-bleu-28-05-13_music#.Ua1GD-vag-w
We saw some videos from it earlier, but a close-up view of her singing ‘Immortelle’ was provided at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10cmhl_france-bleu-107-1-musique-sur-seine_music#.Uae7Z-vag-x
The obvious lure of this video was that Lara forgot the words to the song, and the audience had to clue her in. The audience singing along was helpful here, but they sang along on most of the songs, to the irritation of some fans – who hope this will not become a common occurrence at Lara’s upcoming fall concerts.
Lara was on the show “Le Monde Selon” on RTBF; it focused on what she felt life would be like in an ideal world, and how it is today. Lara wanted women to be strong and feel beautiful regardless of how they looked. She felt that Lou reawakened her own ‘inner child’, talked about love as an idealization, and about her beliefs concerning reincarnation. It’s available at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10d8vb_le-monde-selon-lara-fabian-rtbf-30-05-13_music?start=1#.Ua1FpOvag-w
Lara was featured in the magazine “Questions de femmes”, whose scans are available at:
www.larafabianbrasil.com.br/2013/06/scans-da-lara-na-revista-questions-de.html
When asked if she would do another album for the U.S., she suggested maybe Le Secret would play that role (presumably an English version of it). But she said that given that she now has a family, she would not be going all out for it. She indicated that at this point in time, Lou is the most important thing in her life.
Other media appearances included Passion Classique radio:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x10hl09_lara-fabian-passion-classique-radio-30-05-13_music#.Ua1GaOvag-w
and the program “Il n’y a pas qu’une vie dans la vie” on Europe 1 radio
www.europe1.fr/MediaCenter/Emissions/Il-n-y-a-pas-qu-une-vie-dans-la-vie/Sons/Il-n-y-a-pas-qu-une-vie-dans-la-vie-Lara-Fabian-1529849/
Lara’s incessant media blitz is having an effect. According to Charts in France, Lara is now number 22 in total sales (including digital), up some 17 places in the past week in France (she is 19th in physical CDs, a jump of 11). She has currently sold close to 40,000 discs there in six weeks. In Belgium she is currently 8th (in the ‘Wallonie’ category), and in Switzerland she is 51st (up 9).
The question of the next single for the album came up once again. At the France Bleu concert fans said that Lara indicated it was to be ‘Danse’, a reasonable choice. For whatever it’s worth, we saw a brief video from ‘Je reve dune etoile’ on one of her recent shows, and she did sing that at the France Bleu concert – maybe that had been a front runner. If ‘Dance’ is indeed the pick, it is already being used: the Ballet Joëlle Morane performed to it in a video that was available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y57R3Mq-1lk. However, ithe video has since been rendered i'private'. [You may note that more and more of Lara’s media appearances are showing up on dailymotion, maybe because of youtube’s increasingly restrictive policies].
As we heard last week, Lara will be a judge on the new French reality TV show on TF1, “The Best, Le meilleur artist” (an adaptation of the Dutch show ‘Beat the Best’). There is some new information. Lara says she will look for those who incite strong emotions. Shows will be recorded starting in June, and it will air in September/October. [When queried about what this would mean for her also being a judge on ‘The Voice’ next season, she said she found it hard to believe she would now be chosen for that also; you may remember, she was asked to be a judge on that program once before, but turned it down because of her schedule].
Lara also had appearances in one way or another in other parts of the world. She actually travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan on May 31st for a concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Civil Aviation in that country. Igor Krutoi joined her there. A few nice pictures of Lara arriving in the country and at the concert are available at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=514972915217006&set=a.514972908550340.1073741895.103390503041918&type=1&theater

And this past week, a program initially recorded last September was shown on Canadian TV. It featured the TV host Mélanie Ménard and the Canadian hypnotist Messmer for a somewhat comical adventure in Paris. It can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201228956903906&set=vb.127093573980315&type=2&theater
Concerning both current and upcoming events, according to Nicolas Leroy, Lara recorded a test program this week for the show "Chanson d'abord" which is replacing "Chabada" in the coming year. Lara apparently sang with Natasha St Pier, Vincent Niclo and Mickael Miro for the opening credits. Then a report was shown of her on Eurovision singing "Croire" in 1988. A duo with Vincent Niclo on "Je chante" in tribute to the original singer of that song Charles Trenet was up next.. Later in the show, there was a medley with Lara Fabian songs like "Immortelle", "Tu es mon autre", "Je t'aime" et "Tout" by Lara along with Natasha St Pier, and Sophia Lacen among others.
It was announced that Lara will be part of a free concert “Generation M6 Live” at Les-Moulineaux, June 15th. There will be many performers presenting around the theme ‘Generation Goldman’ (Jean-Jaques Goldman – Lara is not literally part of his chronological generation, as he was born some 20 years earlier…). Johnny Hallyday is supposed to be there, and fans are hoping that Lara will get the chance to do a new duet with him (she has suggested in the past that she would like to do so). A picture advertising the event and performers can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=654145701267635&set=oa.389329884517455&type=1&theater
On June 8th, Lara will be on the program “Les Annees Bonheur” on France 2 TV. This is the show where she is to sing both ‘La Difference’ and ‘Deux ils, deux elles’. A video of her performance of the first song, shot from the audience, can be seen (if it hasn’t already been removed) at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=j67c5Fv5YSA
Still to come later in June (the 22nd) is Lara’s appearance on ‘Le plus grand cabaret du monde’, also on France 2.
And finally, in the last bit of (non)news, Lara’s people informed fans on her FB site that the website "Lara Fabian Officiel - Le Secret" is not official, and they’re trying to close it.
