Lara proved true to her words that she would not let up on her new CD promotion, with several shows of consequence, and more planned. The lead item was the expected one, Lara's appearance on the two hour show "La Parenthese inattendue" on France 2. This will go down as one of the ‘classic’ Lara programs, featuring off-the-cuff wide-ranging discussions with a TV producer (Patrice Laffont) and an actor (Christian Vadim). Lara came across as who she really is, full of life, and in the (translated) words of Marie Simone on Lara’s FB site, “a woman with her strengths and weaknesses, which feed a very great heart and a delicate magnificent spirit”. The program follows the three of them as they spend 24 hours together, partly in a country residence and partly outside, discussing their likes, dislikes, and careers, cooking and eating, playing bocci, etc. As usual, Lara is the perfect guest, very verbal (and opinionated), as are the two men (occasionally joined by Frederic Lopez, the host). She sings occasionally (to make a point), looks very pretty, and is quite natural in a setting designed for that, given the length of time that filming took place. A complete song done by the group is available about 15-20 minutes from the end, and about 13 minutes from the end, Patrice has some very nice words about Lara and her career. Film clips of Lara’s work as well as that of the two men are presented as part of their interaction. The producers must have been very happy with this show. As was the audience – it attracted close to 2 million viewers in France (14% of the market share), its second best performance. The full video is available at:

(also available on Daily Motion in three parts). It is of course in French (and is ripe for English subtitles!).
A picture of Lara at the piano (in a segment shown with about 5 minutes remaining) can be seen at:

The aspect that has gotten the most attention, which was released as a teaser, was Lara’s admission that she had toned down her singing in response to the criticisms she received in France, but had also toned down her whole life (implying that it led to her anorexic period).
This topic also arose in another major interview series currently in progress on the web. Ptitblog.net arranged a series of five video interviews with Lara, each concentrating on a different theme, under the title ‘Sans Secrets’ (appropriate for her new CD). They are Career (5-27), Love (5-28), Disaffection (5-29), Family (5-30) and Happiness (5-31). The entirety will be presented on 6-1. The first two have therefore already been shown. In “Career”, available at:

Lara is asked tough questions concerning the various aspects of her recording history, including the English albums.
In “Love”, her feelings about the emotion itself as well as lovers and fans are discussed, available at:

Most of what is covered in these episodes is familiar to long-term Lara fans; the remaining episodes may feature less familiar material.
Much of this same ground was covered in a new interview on europe1, on the show “Il n’y a pas qu’une vie dans la vie”. Lara got along especially well with the host Isabelle Morizet. It is available (in French) at:
www.europe1.fr/MediaCenter/Emissions/Il-n-y-a-pas-qu-une-vie-dans-la-vie/Sons/Il-n-y-a-pas-qu-u-ne-vie-dans-la-vie-Lara-Fabian-1529849/
Lara also gave an interview for the site mygaytrip.com. The new aspect was that she said she wasn’t really aware of the controversy going on in France at the time she asked Flavien Compagnon about including the music for ‘Deux ils, deux elles’ in her album. [As you may know, the gay marriage bill passed in France and is now law, but a big demonstration against it took place this past weekend].
Lara is also featured in the magazine ‘Jour de France’, with (small) scans available at:

The promotion Lara did recently for gay marriage with, among others, Eva Longoria, has had several follow-ups. There’s a short article in Paris Match about it, whose cover can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=541507569224078&set=a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591&type=1&theater
In addition, a project has developed that involves celebrities portraying situations as if they were a homosexual couple, or part of homosexual families, and providing the pictures to Olivier Ciappa as a demonstration against homophobia. So Lara and Eva Longoria have made such a photo available – it can be seen on various fan sites, in particular at:

From June to September 2013, these pictures will appear in a large format in various places such as Paris and the Ile de France, and then the photos are to be auctioned to raise funds to combat homophobia. Some of the events are open to the public.
Hopefully all these activities will help the sales of Lara’s album. ‘Le Secret’ is currently in 38th place in France, having dropped 11 places from last week, while in Belgium it is #7, down from #3.
Already a number of additional appearances have been lined up. Lara will join several other artists for a concert to be shown on France Bleu, May 28th. She will also be present with other artists for the program "La Chanson N°1" to be recorded on May 30th. She will be on RFM radio on the 31st, The program “Le plus grand cabaret du monde” recorded on May 14th will be broadcast on June 22nd. An article with pictures is available at:

Lara has agreed to join the jury for the show ‘The Best”, juding the best performing artist, to be presented at some point on TF1.
And she will be on "Les Années bonheur" June 8th on France 2, where she will sing ‘La Difference’ and ‘Deux ils, deux elles’. This appears to be the first time both of these anthems against homosexual discrimination will be presented together on French TV.
Lara’s release of a new album generally launches a host of promotional media appearances, but while they can be thought of in that mode, they are very valuable in and of themselves. A number of these shows may be as important in years to come for Lara’s fans as the new album. For the moment, at least, it looks like they are going to continue.
