Lara continued her promo mode this past week, as her new album continued to sink in the charts, and there was new info on the Mlle. Zhivago movie.
Lara’s week featured various appearances in the media:
**giving an interview on Europe 1 (the radio interview in French is at www.europe1.fr/MediaCenter/Emissions/Faites-entrer-l-invite/Sons/Faites-entrer-l-invite-Lara-Fabian-1514825/ )while a video of a ‘duet’ is available at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO2fVNLCQ9s);
**an interview on MFM radio where she responded to questions concerning her various preferences (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzuit6_lara-fabian-ses-confidences-sur-mfm-radio_music#.UZI-_oKhU-y);
**sang at a charity event in the hotel George V in Paris, for the 4th edition of “Global Gift Gala”, with, among others, Eva Longoria; pictures are available on various sites, including some very beautiful poses at:

**a general interview in ‘la semaine’ from Quebec; scans are available on the Mlle. Zhivago website www.facebook.com/groups/104543256256462/, with the cover page (thanks to Rozenn Roz) at:

Out of all these events, perhaps the biggest news of the week centered around Lara’s statement on Europe 1 that the Mlle. Zhivago movie will, after all, be coming out on DVD. This followed several recent interviews in which Lara had dismissed the idea. Rumors again say it is projected for release in June, and some ‘people in the know’ say that has been true since February. If so, and Lara knew it, it’s hard to understand why she gave the opposite impression, except to discourage people from knowing about it. And if that were really the case, why publicly advertise it now? [Lara’s whole involvement with this project epitomizes the befuddlement fans sometimes find with her…]. It would be safe to say that this is, once again, a case of ‘I’ll believe it when I hold it in my hands’. We still don’t know whether it will be just the 8 videos available on the Internet, or the more elaborate version including other videos such as those shot for ‘Mama’, and ‘Demaine n’existe pas’, as had also been rumored. Alan Badoev has been quite busy on Twitter, but has said nothing further about the MZ film.
Meanwhile, ‘Le Secret’ is now (as of last Wednesday) in 13th place on the French charts (for the physical CD, 16th overall, down from 8th), with close to 30,000 physical CDs sold. It’s still not clear how that can be called a ‘gold’ disc, which requires sales of 50,000 – it’s unlikely that downloads would make up all that difference. In Belgium it is now number 3 (down from 2), for French (‘Wallonia’) albums. In Switzerland it is down to 59th (from 29th) despite it being ‘disc of the week’ on a radio show last week in Switzerland (http://www.rts.ch/option-musique/programmes/le-disque-de-la-semaine/4844266-disque-de-la-semaine.html). As noted by the Lara Fabian international page, it’s in 35th place in Slovenia, and 239th in Mexico .
Next Saturday she will sing on the final show of the Voice on French TV. Fans are hoping that she will introduce the next single from the album, and some (at least) are worried that it might be ‘Je reve d’une etoile’ (which she sang at the recent MFM concert); while a beautiful song, they fear that it would not properly promote the album, and perhaps would be capitulation to the French critics who don’t like ‘Singers of Voice’. It has not been near the top of the fan choices for the next single, which Lara actually asked the fans to suggest.
Lara had a male accompanying her to the charity concert in Paris (e.g., www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4323741226521&set=o.104543256256462&type=1&theater), and fans were interested to know whether it was her new boyfriend, Gabriel Di Giorgio. As the accompanying text explains, it was not, it was a person from her new press agency. BTW, it is pretty certain that the boy friend rumors are correct: he has been seen with her at some events in Belgium, and she even dedicated the album to him, writing in the accompanying booklet (in Italian), “Gabriel, my Life…I dedicate ‘Le Secret” to you. Mine: is You…”
Valou712 reported on the live concert Lara gave for MFM last week (it will be broadcast this coming week; this is different from the MFM radio interview broadcast today). Of interest was Lara’s comment that she wrote 90% of the lyrics on airplanes, and that if she had stayed with a record company she would not have been able to release a 2 disc CD. He noted that despite her being sick, she ‘gave her all’ on the 4 sings that she sang "Deux ils, Deux elles", "J'y crois encore", "Immortelle" et "Je rêve d'une étoile" (giving rise to the hypothesis that this will be the next single).
In case you missed it, a rare video of a Franco-Ontarian festival was uploaded to youtube, from the ‘90s (thanks to Lara Fabian est ton autre for the link). It’s available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXxv1wMKQeg
Upcoming broadcast shows for Lara this coming week include the program "69 minutes Sans Chichis" on the Belgian channel "La Deux" on Thursday; a public autograph session next Saturday; with Anne Roumanoff on Europe 1 Saturday morning; and the ‘Voice’ on TF1 Saturday night. Next Tuesday she will be on “Un air de Star" on M6. Her MFM appearance at la Comédie Odéon in Lyon will be broadcast next Sunday. We will see if any of these, or a new single, can alter the trajectory of Le Secret’s sales.
