Again, both of Lara’s big projects are vying for lead story, but once again it has to go to the Mademoiselle Zhivago film. A ‘Making of†video of some 15 minutes has just been released (this news update was delayed for that reason). Currently its been placed (by Appellemoi Jerem on the Mlle. Zhivago site) at:
www.dropbox.com/s/kwuml6kumc4x9cn/Vid%C3%A9o%2009-04-13%2020%2047%2058.mp4
Alan Badoev had previously stated on ‘Twitter’ that the ‘Making of†would be released today, and the full movie tomorrow. Both were supposed to be on the ELLO youtube site (http://www.youtube.com/user/ELLO), but it was reported that the ELLO site couldn’t immediately handle ‘The Making of†video. Perhaps by now it has…one wonders what that means for the distribution of the movie on that site.
Though you couldn’t tell it from her official FB site, Lara was primarily busy this past week with the Mademoiselle Zhivago film. She did go to the Ukraine and Russia, to attend the premiere showings of the film in Kiev and Moscow, along with Igor Krutoi and Alan Badoev. The few reviews that are available stressed two things: (1) the amount of blood and violence in the film; and (2) the wonderful job Lara did as a dramatic actress.
[As an aside, apparently there is a feud between Igor Krutoy and Alla Pugacheva, associated at least in part with their backing different musical festivals – he, the “New Wave†festival in Latvia, and she, the “Crimean Musical Festâ€. Commentators were therefore surprised that Phillip Kirkirov, a famous singer in Russia and ex-husband of Ms. Pugacheva – who nonetheless has supported her in this feud – showed up for the film in Moscow. Perhaps an indication of the importance of the event…In addition, Alla Pugacheva was in a film 30-40 years ago called “The Woman Who Singsâ€, and some thought that may have been the inspiration for this movie, which Badoev introduced as “Music and a Womanâ€. Krutoy was asked about any similarity, and dismissed it.]
Pictures of these premiere events are readily available on the web, for example, from the ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ site:

or from the Mlle. Zhivago site, at:

A news video from the Russian TV channel ‘The High Life’ is available at www.dailymotion.com/video/xytfxm_yyyyy-0704_shortfilms#.UWRRMxmhU-x
And an interview Lara provided for the Moscow TV station LOVE is at:

Apparently only 8 of the MZ videos were shown in Moscow, skipping the one concerned with terrorists. It was shown in the Ukraine.
As to why Lara’s official site had no mention of these events at all, there are a number of possible reasons. First or all, she almost never mentions events that take place in the ‘countries to the east’ unless fans clamor for information - even her tours in this region are only added to her website’s event listings as afterthoughts (and sometimes don’t ever make it). For someone who views herself as an international artist, Lara apparently still believes that the only people who read her website are her French/Belgium core fans (one can notice that translations into English are done on a sporadic basic, when someone thinks of it). And in that regard, what she wants to get across to these fans is the upcoming release of ‘Le Secret’, so she has little incentive to discuss unrelated events. In addition, reports from these two premieres strongly suggest she is still not happy with the movie – she even purportedly said she would have liked it ‘lighter still’. Even Krutoy was reported to say that it was ‘twisted’, and ‘not what we had envisioned’. Lara has apparently gone along with its release, but she has certainly not jumped in with both feet. If, however, because of it she is viewed as a serious actress (and person), it will be greatly beneficial, regardless of her attitude. It will be interesting to see if she puts links to these MZ movie videos, or the videos themselves on her youtube site.
As concerns the other big story, the impending release of ‘Le Secret’: Lara released the official video of ‘Deux ils, deux elles’, available on Lara’s youtube page at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=D47lVYOSNwo
IMHO it is an excellent, stylish video, very worthy of the song.
Lara’s people had said that when their ‘likes’ passed 95,000 there would be a surprise, and today they unveiled it: a ‘teaser’ for “Le Secretâ€, available at:

FNAC is now showing the track-listing with writing attributions for ‘Le Secret’, and they are copied below.
CD1
1.Le Secret (Lara Fabian/Giora Linenberg) 5:19; 2. Danse (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 5:00; 3. Amourexique (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:59; 4. Un ange est tombe (Lara Fabian, Janey Clewer, Kurt Howell, Jenifer McLaren) 4:15; 5. Je t’appelle (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:38; 6. Mirage (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 3:37; 7. Que j’etais belle (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:55; 8. (Lara Fabian, Janey Clewer, Gregg Mangiafico) 4:30
CD2
1. Je reve d’une etoile (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 3:53; 2. Kalpataru (Lara Fabian, Janey Clewer, Gregg Mangiafico) 6:32; 3. Deux ‘ils’ deux ’elles’ (Lara Fabian, Patrice Guillou, Flavien Compagnon) 3:30; 4. Ce qu’il reste…(Lara Fabian, Giora Linenberg) 4:01; 5. Putain de grand amour (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:35; 6. Il est Lune (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:51; 7. Mon Desir (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 4:14; 8. L’enfant du Gwenved (Lara Fabian, Janey Clewer, Don Hart) 5:00; 9. I a A-WA (Lara Fabian/Janey Clewer) 5:25
We see that as expected, Janey Clewer co-wrote 14 of the 17 songs, and Giora Linenberg co-wrote two of them. Ironically, the one song that neither participated in became the first single, presumably for its thematic importance (gay marriage is being voted on right now in France). BTW, one can see that there are no separate tracks for the musical interludes between songs, so the timing given represents the actual song plus the following interlude. The cover also indicated that, again as expected, it is being distributed by Warner Brothers.
Lara announced in another youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-zxubuh4ws with English subtitles) that fans could record sections of the upcoming showcase concerts and place them on the “Evergig.com†website. Perhaps their hope is that they can make a coherent live recording out of all of them. It will be interesting to see if this approach will be used for the tour of ‘Le Secret’ in general.
As part of the album’s promotion, Lara was also on three different TV shows in France. On ‘Vivement Dimanche’ she presented a lip-synched version of ‘Deux ils, deux elles’, available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZuQPNfz_vRg).
She was also on the telethon for battling AIDS (‘Sidaction’) and performed a duet of ‘L’été indien’ with Laurent Boyer, available with English subtitles at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aFlOcl4rO4
And she was on ‘Bienvenue chez Cauet’, for her semi-regular dose of sharp-edged humor. The part of the show with Lara can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVNpaPPW8tg
Unlike a number of programs (or endurance exercises) of this type in France that Lara puts herself through, one gets the opinion that Sebastien Cauet really likes her, and she is certainly a good sport about the goings-on.
This coming week is perhaps the biggest of her career, at least for the last decade. We will see if the Mlle. Zhivago movie does get released, and we are pretty sure that ‘Le Secret’ will be. In addition, Lara will be in Ankara, Turkey to give a concert on the 12th, she will be appearing on TV in ‘The Ou café’ as well as on ‘Music Hebdo Mag’, both on France 2 on the 13th, on ‘Chabada’ on France 3 on the 14th, and at her two showcase presentations of ‘Le Secret’ at the ‘Theatre de Paris’ on the day of the album’s release, the 15th. A separate thread will be established for reviews of the album, any that you care to add as well as those from publications/respected sources.
