A potpourri of items this past week, from various locales in Europe/Asia.
In particular, the week featured the opening of a musical that Lara has been associated with, “Casanova in 3D”, in Acireale (a coastal town in Sicily). An article in Italian discussing the work at www.cataniatoday.it/eventi/acireale-palasport-casanova-3d-7-dicembre-2012.html was translated by Daina (thank you!). Here are the main points:
**It takes place in Venice in the 8th century, and concerns a ‘young Casanova’, in love with ‘being in love’.
**It is produced by CAMS, College di Arti e Mestieri dello Spettacolo, and involves 15 actors, 12 dancers and 7 acrobats.
** The music is performed live and was composed by Lino Zimbone and Salvo Leanza, under Lara’s supervision.
**The ‘3D component’ arises due to the use of special polarized glasses, which will be distributed to the whole audience at the point of entrance. The spectators will be thus be immersed in virtual reality, being able to almost ‘touch the spectacular scenery’.
** Andrew Quinn says. “We will try to bring to life an unforgettable experience. The effects interact with the characters and the music. For me this is going to be a real show. I will be at my computer, and I'll play with the mouse, changing all the settings that I have prepared in advance. This shall surprise the audience and myself.”
To get a feel for this (without the ‘3D’), see the excerpts at:

There were a few positive comments about the show on their website www.facebook.com/events/397919973612482/, but I’ve seen no press reviews. Similarly, while there was (reasonable) speculation that Lara would attend, there’s been no indication so far one way or the other…
Maybe travelling is the last thing she wants right now, while her recently concluded trip to Russia and the Ukraine is apparently still on her mind. Sunday Lara put the following message on her FB site:
“My angels from Russia and the Ukraine thank you for this wonderful tour. Thanks to you each day had a bit of magic in it... I love you !!! Lov. Lara “
Videos are still showing up, in particular from the St. Petersburg show on 11-28. See for example, the video of Mlle. Hyde, the song whose re-imagining got the most attention on this tour:

Now, however, it is back to the reality of sustaining and building her French audience. The charity event from last week is a good step in that direction, and the press somewhat belatedly discovered (as we saw) that Gerard had joined Lara for the Paris auction in support of children in Darfur. An article discussing that ‘reunion’ appeared at

Lara Fabian and Gerard Pullicino: their tender reunion last night to support UNICEF! © Abaca
While they announced their separation three weeks ago, Lara Fabian and Gerard Pullicino gathered yesterday for a charity event and the least we can say is that the tenderness is still there ...
November 15, Lara Fabian announced the sad news of his separation from Gérard Pullicino. A real shock, after seven years of marriage and the birth of a daughter in 2007, Gerard and Lara chose to end their relationship. Yesterday, Monday, December 3, the surprise was complete when they arrived accomplices more than ever at the Petit Palais in Paris, the evening Frimousses Designers organized by UNICEF. On this occasion 76 dolls made by top fashion designers were offered for sale to benefit UNICEF in particular to help children in Darfur.
Despite the recent separation, Gérard Pullicino came to support the one that shared his life and was sponsor of the event. He knows how the star is invested in its humanitarian commitment and he insisted to be at her side for the auction of the heart. Between tenderness and reverence, Lara and Gerard reflect the image of a dignified separation. They know to set aside their respective problems to a cause of greater honor and thanks to this evening, there are over 200,000 children in Darfur that can be vaccinated in 2013. The couple took time to pose for photographers and apparently they are not angry at all, judging by the smiles they exchanged!
Lara Fabian bid on two dolls and spent a whopping 7000 euros to acquire them. At that price, she now has a doll customized by Jay Har and another Gucci. The Gucci doll belongs as much to her as to Lara’s fans since it was purchased with donations from fans, collected by the singer via a call for donations on Facebook. This doll will be the mascot of the star on stage during her upcoming tour! Spring fans will also discover her new album in stores!
Lara's generosity did not stop there as noting that the sale of dolls did not bring in enough funds, she auctioned an a capella version of ‘Je suis malade’, the song of Serge Lama. All members of the audience emptied their pockets and paid 10 € to 50 € to acquire this live version by Lara Fabian. In the end, between the sale of dolls and improvised auction of the star, more than € 200,000 have been collected. Other stars were there to support this initiative, Estelle Lefebure we could rediscover through Dancing with the Stars and Alain Delon, guest of the evening was given a doll donating € 13,000, for a good cause! Among the crowd of guests, we could see personalities from the world of fashion as Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Chantal Thomas and the people: the leader Bernard Montiel, novelist Danielle Steel or the sublime actress Anna Sherbinina.
Lara Fabian has done better than Laeticia Hallyday, the sponsor of the last edition and we hope that the record will be beaten again next year.

One can find various photos from this event, including a number with Gerard, at

(just click on the lead photo and others show up).
Clearly, Lara and Gerard are not angry with one another; Lara, however, looked happier than he did. Ironically, we now have more photos of them ‘together’ than we had when they were together, especially with Gerard smiling, as in:

In other news, for those who want more ‘instant access’ to Lara’s doings, there is a nice ‘twitter’ site devoted to Lara, at:

Good luck to them! (Lara herself does not have a twitter account, and has been somewhat disdainful of stars “who have to tell the world about each of their thoughts”).
With the holidays approaching, one can imagine Lara will be taking time off for personal activities. We’ll see if that also involves newsworthy events…
