An interesting week, for Lara and her fans…
Lara posted a new message on her facebook site yesterday, with news that has ramifications for her international career. (Despite that, her website failed to translate it into English… - so here is one…)
------------------------------------------------------------
My angels ..
November 11, I sang a duet with Bocelli at the Wedding of David Foster and Yolanda, in Los Angeles ..
I was in good company ... As you can see ...
I just wanted to share it with you ....
Also I know many of you are wondering what is happening
with Mademoiselle Zhivago....
Know that I am doing a little work of assemblage right now so as to present to you a nice project issued from this long work ...
This will not be only music but much more ... still a little patience…
With Love,
LOV. L

The “good company…As you can see…" refers to to the additional short messages pertaining to the event provided on the FB site. They include pictures of Lara with: Barbra Streisand (“the most beautiful voice in the world for me”, Lara says in the accompanying text); David Foster (“my favorite director”); Michael Buble (“too cute”); and of course Andrea Bocceli (“cool”) (one report had her singing “Vivo Per Lei” with him).
We knew that Lara had attended the event, but these details in effect also inform us of the ‘networking’ that she had been doing. It bodes well for her if she has any interest in reviving her career in the States (and getting to meet Streisand again undoubtedly made her year!).
Of course, the other part of the message has more immediate implications. First, Lara acknowledges that she knows the fans are concerned about the Mlle. Zhivago project. [Given that the official site never mentions it, this was not necessarily obvious. And the response of the fans to this message verified it – over 100 poured in in short order, most saying they were very anxious about the project and looking forward to seeing something from it]. Best of all, Lara confirms that a ‘reworking’ of some sort is taking place (so as to make it acceptable to her), implying also in her choice of words that she realizes how much time and effort has gone into it. We clearly don’t know what that ‘assemblage’ entails, whether it will still even be a film, much less in line with what Badoev produced. But what fans have wanted most of all was to see Lara act in a variety of roles with different outfits and dramatic personnae, to let them and the rest of the public see what we imagine to be her great ability in this area. Anything that makes that reality more of a possibility is welcome news. But lest we get too carried away, we know that nothing is settled in Lara’s world ‘til it’s resting in our hands (metaphorically at least).
In other news, there have been several items concerning Lara’s activities as a ‘judge’. In one, Lara and Gerard acted as part of a jury to select the winning photo of the ‘Hotel de Sers’, not far from the Champs-Élysées. Actually, three winners were selected, with the photos to be blown up and used as decorations in the hotel’s rooms. The article discussing this can be found at:
www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-et-son-compagnon-gerard-pullicino-redecorent-un-palace_a92879/1
and it has some nice photos of Lara with Gerard and others.
It was also announced that Lara will continue in 2012 as the sponsor of AICOM (the International Academy of Musical Comedy) and help judge their competition. As the school is dedicated to ‘musical theatre’ , it specializes in encouraging multidisciplinary talent. You may remember Lara offered two ‘master classes’, along with being their patron. ‘Ptitblog’ reproduced the extract we saw earlier this year from a class; for those who missed it, it’s available at:
www.ptitblog.net/Lara-Fabian/lara-fabian-marraine-d-un-concours-de-comedie-musicale_art6496.html
As we know, the director AICOM, Pierre Yves Duchesne, has also been Lara’s vocal coach for the last 3 years (or at least that’s the time period quoted by the article).
Under Lara’s guidance, AICOM is becoming more international. Their competition, known as CICM (International Competition of Music Comedy), will now have selections begining on January 28 in Vienna, then continuing in Geneva (Switzerland), Perpignan, Paris etc . As in the past there will be separate singing and dancing competitions for adults, children under 16, and duos/trios/sets. The final event will take place in May 2012 in a Parisian theater during a special evening open to the public. A video with Lara discussing CICM (in French) is available at:

Lara has added another concert date to her ‘countries to the east’ tour for the first part of 2012. It’s to be in Prague, on March 12th – the first time she’s ever given a concert in that country. The article announcing it indicated it’s part of a ‘major European tour’, which so far includes 2 concerts in (non-European) Beirut in mid-February; concerts in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Moldova and Romania from March 12-17; and Kazakhstan (which Wikipedia describes as a ‘transcontinental country’ ) in mid-April. We’re still waiting to see what she will do about her postponed tours in Russia and the Ukraine – maybe she’s waiting to see what can be ‘’assembled” from the Mlle. Zhivago filming before deciding on those venues.
As the next news update will follow the beginning of the Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa holidays, may the season be a happy one for all of you (and Lara as well!).
