Lara’s week centered around her concerts in countries consisting of the former Soviet Union, with her second performance in St. Petersburg, followed by shows in Ekaterinbourg (Russia), Amernia and the Ukraine. The acoustic set the first night in St. Petersburg featured (thanks to Chrstina): J'y crois encore; Il venait d'avoir 18 ans; Soleil soleil; I guess I loved you; Immortelle; La difference; Humana; Do you know where you're going to; Wind beneath my wings; Both sides now; Angel; Grande, grande, grande; Alfonsina y el mar; J'ai besoin de parler; Je t'aime, and Adagio. Notice that there were only two songs from TLFM, while there were 4 from EWIM. Videos available on the web show her speaking primarily in English. Perhaps Lara is getting mentally ready for the promotion of Mme. Zhivago (if indeed it is called that) later this year, which might well be done primarily in that language.
As to the concerts themselves, the cold Lara exhibited the first night in St. Petersburg may have worsened, or Lara was simply tired, resulting in her skipping some of the songs, and generally ending the concert with “Je t’aime”. Nevertheless, her voice was described by one attendee as even more powerful the second night in St. Petersburg than the first, and the video of her singing ‘Je t’aime’ in Ekaterinbourg, available on the web, displayed her normal vocal prowess.
Pictures of Lara in Ekaterinbourg, dressed for the cold (it was -12°C there) can be found on the official site provided by Olga9, under the link for the link for these concerts . What one can’t see is the beautiful bracelet Lara wore, given to her by a Russian fan.
And some great photos from Odessa, Ukraine, taken by Alexander Putnikov can be found on Christina’s website,

A number of videos from the first night in St. Petersburg are now available on youtube.
In other news, Lara as usual had some additional appearances in the French/Belgian media even while being absent from the region (and Christina reports that Lara did a televised interview in the Ukraine, as well). She first gave an interview for Paris Match. In discussing her career, in the context of women in general, she clearly feels that her decision to restrain her voice in an attempt to appease the French critics was wrong. She particularly points out “Neuf “as an example of this (and it may be more than a coincidence that she sings no songs from Neuf on the current tour). The fact that Lara continues to return to this topic – albeit prompted by the hosts – implies she is still stressed by it. One wonders if that, along with some negative reviews for TLFM, is a contributing factor to the health issues she has had on this tour. The video is available on the web, and some nice pictures can be found on the official site under this topic.
Lara also gave a bonus interview for “Sans Chichis” (in addition to the televised show). The program title means ‘without frills’, and Lara essentially indicated that she agrees with this concept for everything in life. One can see the picture of Lara that accompanied this interview on Larafabiannews.com.
The album “Message”, whose proceeds go to the fight against AIDS, hit the stores on Monday. Lara’s beautiful version of ‘Amoureuse’ is included. Perhaps if many people hear it, it will encourage them to purchase ‘TLFM’, which has now dropped to 157th on the French charts.
Lara has continued to be featured on ‘Nostalgie Belgique’, with the ‘Discotheque Ideale de Lara Fabian’, one song a day representing different aspects of her life. In addition to the songs described in the last update, Lara has now added:
The song that reminds her of her first heartbreak (from love): “I Don’t Know Much but I Know I Love You” by Richard Marx (sung as a duet with Linda Ronstadt);
[ERRATA: Pam pointed out to me that it is actually Aaron Neville singing with Linda Ronstadt on this Richard Marx song. As you probably know, Lara sang a duet with Richard on his song "Surrender to Me"].
The song of friendship which, not surprisingly is by Mauranne, called ‘Imagination";
The song that makes her laugh: "La bonne du curé" by Annie Cord;
The song for waking up in the morning: "On s'attache" by Chrisophe Maé

Lara returns to France for two more concerts this coming week, Amiens on the 27th and Porcieu Amblagnieu on the 28th. After that, it’s back to Belgium, where in two weeks the DVD will be recorded.
