A busy holiday week for Lara before the public, although mostly due to shows taped beforehand.
Lara's performance on "Les Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois from last week appeared on the web. She sang Mamy Bleu in a stellar performance, and looked great. This video will likely go down [IMHO] as one of Lara's best with a choral group (in this case, young singers). Comments on the web were generally quite favorable for Lara, but not so much for the show itself. As noted by one fan, the program finished third in ratings for that time period, although it still attracted more than 3 million fans. The video is available on NABBOX and youtube.
Lara's appearance on 'N'oubliez pas les paroles" aired New Year's Day. The quiz show features a duo (Eric Laugerias joined Lara) trying to fill in missing words from songs in various categories, with the prize money going to charity (in this case, AMTM). It thus allows the couple to sing parts of various songs together. In the category "Belgians", one of the choices was Lara's own "La Difference", which gave her the chance to sing the full song, and she did it beautifully. On the show Lara was her usual live and witty self, and even had the opportunity to perform a sketch with a Quebec accent. She ended up winning 20,000 euros for the charity, although it must be said that her lack of familiarity with some French lyrics was a bit of a surprise to some fans. Perhaps most noteworthy was the comment that she will have a DVD released, associated with her tour, as acespedesf reported in the thread for last week's update. If true, this is great news, and will help memorialize the work Gerard put into the stage show with its holograms. Videos of the TV show are again available on NABBOX and youtube.
And, additionally with respect to the AMTM charity for which Lara is the 'godmother': larafabiannews.blogger.com.br reports that Lara is scheduled to give a private concert to raise funds for it on June 12, 2010, to take place at the Casino de Paris. Past concerts of this nature have always been very unique in their choice of songs. [BTW, neither this date - nor the ones discussed below for eastern Europe - are listed on the official site concert schedule, but that really doesn't make them any less likely].
Maria on the official site forum indicated that Lara went to Moscow for a private concert at the end of December, organized by the Russian president Dimitry Medvedev (private concerts are also never noted on the official site concert list). Apparently she also went shopping for a new dress with Igor Krutoi at one of Moscow's boutiques. So much for her extended Christmas vacation in Quebec…But it fits in with her push for audiences in Russia and related countries. Maria also indicated that during Lara's French concert break in February, she will be appearing in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg (Russia's 5th largest city), Kishinev (capital of Moldova), Odessa (birthplace of Igor Kroutoi, in the Ukraine) and Kiev. Several countries were dropped from the original schedule, but given what we've seen recently with Lara's concerts, it may not yet be finalized (and fans, wondering about that, are sensibly a bit concerned about buying tickets, making travel arrangements, etc).
Lara was not on "L'Ecole des fans" January 2nd, and from all appearances she will not be on in the next couple of weeks either. Her show was recorded on October 26th, and people who recorded their performances after her have already appeared. No explanation for the delay has been offered.
Perhaps some 50 of Lara's fans have received invitations to attend the taping of 'Panique des les oreillettes" to take place on January 11th in Paris. Lara will be on with just one other guest, Philippe Geluck, and there is high anticipation that many of Lara's long-time companions (in one sense or another) will be brought in. With that many of her fans in the audience, she's bound to get a very enthusiastic reception. The program airs on January 13th on France 2.
And Lara will be at the Olympia de Paris on January 20th in another France 2 program, "La Fête de la Chason Française", where, as the (translated) promo goes, 'each year the greatest stars will sing live on stage at the Festival of French music". By that time, of course, Lara will be in the full swing of the next phase of her concert tour that will feature some 12 venues over a three week period beginning January 15th.
Ze Lamelie has placed a number of 'caps' (photos taken from recent videos or appearances) on Hezia's site, at:

And this week is a big occasion for Lara - her 40th birthday, on January 9th. Lara has often said she doesn't mind getting older, but this certainly is a milestone. Happy Birthday, Lara!
