As was somewhat expected, Lara did pop up this past week to promote her album in various places. First was in Normandy on France Bleu. It was a pretty standard promotion session; one new element was that Lara indicated that to maximize her time at home with her family, she goes back immediately after appearances such as this, rather than staying in hotels. The audio is available on NABBOX, while a short video of Lara arriving at the FNAC store there at:

Then Lara was on France Bleu Lorraine Nord. She discussed her time with Rick Allison as something more than a 'Pygmalion" story (but see below for her comment about Igor Krutoi). She also had a comment about the people in the north of France being warmer than those of the south (who nevertheless have their own charm), perhaps because they don't see the sun as often so they have to generate their own warmth. This elicited some comments from fans ☺. She also sang a small extract of Croire in a discussion about Eurovision, available at:

and the interview itself is at: www.sendspace.com/file/5j5xw4

And Lara appeared today in Nantes, at l'Espace Culturel. As one fan noted, these personal promotions must be decided at the last moment, since she was supposed to be in the Ukraine at this point in time. Again the questions and responses focused on the singers and songs covered in TLFM, although Lara did mention the various reactions of her fans on meeting her (some seem intimidated, with their heads down, others very loquacious…). Her interview there on France Bleu is available on radio France, and also, thanks to restck1989, at:

Also today, Lara was present for the recording of the show "les petits chanteurs a la croix de bois". It is to be aired probably on Christmas Day (as it usually is), although the official site lists it as December 12th (perhaps confusing it with 'les enfants de la tele').
As reported by Russian websites, and larafabiannews.blogger.com.br, Igor Krutoi gave an interview to the site Mosfilm in which he repeated that Lara's new album with him would be in four languages, and its release date is October 2010, as reported last week. Furthermore, he said it would be sold in Russia and throughout Europe, with concerts in those countries as well as America (makes one wonder whether it will be sold in the US). The album will have a symphony orchestra! And it will (still) be accompanied by the film "Mademoiselle Zhivago", to be released at the same time. However, as Lara is expected to be in concert in Russia during the summer of 2010, we might well hear some of the new songs then.
BTW, he said the name of the album had been chosen but he could not reveal it (it had been known as "Le Secret"…) Subsequently Maria on the Russian forum indicated that it would be called 'Mademoiselle Zhivago', as is the film. Time will tell if this is correct.
The same sources also provided a video of Lara's comments on and work with Igor Krutoi for a Russian channel - it is available from various sources on the web, including youtube at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW4BYOGP-wk
Apparently Lara says that her meeting with Igor is the most important musical event in her life (there's Lara's enthusiasm again, if not her sense of history…). If nothing else, Igor Krutoi appears to be serious and hard working, and perhaps he can help bring to fruition projects with Lara that require that type of attitude.
More on the album was discussed by Lara in an interview in the paper 'la Tribune Le Progres (Rhone Alpes)'. Here's her particular (translated) response when asked about it:
"You have a disc in preparation?"
"It is in the vein of my albums in English. It is a big symphonic deployment, on two octaves, two and a half octaves. They killed me! (laughs). The writer is a wonderful Russian musician, who is named Igor Kroutoi. And the disc is very Russian, very tortured, very lyrical."
For those who love the English albums, that is very good news! In the interview, Lara also said that she wasn't certain who would come to hear her after some four years, but she was surprised to find many adolescents as well as men - who she thought might have been attracted by TLFM; and that TLFM was an homage to the women not to the particular songs, which Lara thinks of as a broad palette, like a karaoke (a thought she in effect picked up from its critics, who she notes she has been in a war with for some time). One other interesting aspect: in listing the various notable dates of Lara's career, they give those for the release of the 1st and 2nd English albums (presumably because of her comment, but unprecedented nevertheless).
And finally on the new album, it was reported on Russian sites that "Demaine n'existe pas" is already being played on Russian radio; larafabiannews.blogger.com.br/ provides a link for the 'ripped' version of it. It is essentially the version we heard in Latvia, which appeared to be lip-synched, presumably with this recording playing in the background. It is truly transcendent.
Several articles appeared during the week mentioning the album "Message" to be released on December 1, the day chosen to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fight against AIDS. Proceeds will go to help against the disease. Of particular interest is the song "If", which involves, among others, Daniel Powter, M. Pokora, Justin Nozuka, Natasha St Pier, Bob Sinclar, Victoria Abril, Anggun, Lara Fabian, Christophe Willem and Sliimy. This project has been in the news from time to time over the last few months, but as the deadline for release has approached, it's gotten more publicity.
The same person who reviewed (negatively) TLFM for the magazine 'Platine", provided a brief review of Lara's show in Paris. That of course limited how positive it could be, but the reviewer did find things he liked, including the staging of the show and the homage to Ginette Reno.
Goods ordered from the on-line boutique are apparently delivered very rapidly, at least in Europe, but they were reported to come in a simple plain brown envelope, which has elicited some concern.
Lara has one more week 'off' before her concerts start again, although it obviously hasn't been much of a break. However, it has still probably been easier than what she would have gone through had she been filming in the Ukraine for 20 days. Given how complicated the program is for her new show, we should probably not expect many changes when the tour resumes.
