As suggested by Lara’s comments last week, she was in Russia this week, participating in a festival where she (like all the other acts) lip-synched two songs: ‘I Will Love Again’, and ‘Je t’aime’. She didn’t really do it all that well (probably has been out of practice, especially for IWLA). Videos are available on Youtube. Regardless of the actual performance, the fact that she is pursuing the Russian market is encouraging.
Lara’s appearance on the show “Qui Veut Gagner Des Millions”, was broadcast yesterday. Teamed with a partner, she had to respond to questions that would, if answered correctly, eventually allow her to win a million euros for the organization ‘Paroles des femmes’, the charity she supports. The video of this is available on NABBOX. Rather than spoiling it for those interested by giving away how she did, I’ll just say it was very entertaining.
However, the big news this past week was the appearance of Lara’s interview in Platine. For those wishing to order the magazine – which (at least when you buy it in France) includes two posters of Lara – it can be ordered at:
www.discountpresse.com/consultation_feuilleteur.php?id=86395
(and unlike the Platine website itself, they accept credit cards).
Larafabianweb.com put scans of the article on their website. I’ve provided a translation of it in a separate post (it is long). Suffice it to say that the interviewer is pretty successful in getting Lara to answer questions she is trying to avoid by asking them over again. One other impression – unless things have changed, the appearance of Lara’s additional albums in the next year does not seem to be as certain as we’ve been led to believe (but things might have changed as this interview was conducted back in May).
With that caveat in mind, larafabianweb.com also reported that the English album EWIM will be released in Brazil this fall. That is a status not even afforded to “A Wonderful Life”. Lara says in her Platine interview that it will not be released in English markets, at least not yet. In the final analysis, we really don’t know what will happen with it, other than it will likely be made available on tour and through several websites.
And concerning the album of new songs, Lara’s discussion of it in the Platine article is different from the impression one got from her Moscow concerts, where it appeared it was being done with Igor Krutoi and several new songs written with him were performed. It wouldn’t be surprising if the story changes a number of times in the coming year.
Some information that fans are providing on Lara’s websites about the new tour claims to know the songs that Lara will sing, and in fact lists the ones that will be done from the new album. This too contradicts Lara’s comment in the Platine article that all the songs from the new album will be performed. Probably this too will change, in this case by September.
Lara was also featured in the French magazine “Santé Zen (Zen health). The article has some 6 pages of pictures – scans of it are available on larafabianweb.com. One point of note that was not in the Platine article is that Lara repeats she will be in the play Victor Victoria starting in October 2010, and that they are looking for a theatre. She sounds confident that it will take place – but, once more, Lara’s future plans have a built-in uncertainty to them, as we’ve learned over the years.
