The big news this week was the announcement that “Every Woman in Me” (Lara’s ‘thank you’ album for English singers) will go on sale as part of a ‘2 CD digipack’ at the beginning of the TLFM tour in September. It will be available at the tour sites, and also on the Official site and larafabianweb.com. While everybody is very happy with EWIM, fans are already suggesting that TLFM1 (the unreleased first version) be substituted for TLFM2 (the new release) that is currently the one envisioned to be in the ‘digipack’. Presumably most people who come to the concerts will already have TLFM(2).
During the week, Lara returned from Russia and was immersed in appearances on the local affiliates of the radio station France Bleu throughout France. In conjunction with this, she also met with fans (and received presents from them, while they were given CDs). From these shows, and also from Russian reports, we’ve learned that the new album to be out later in 2010 will be called “Le Secret”. It will feature new songs, including one she co-wrote with Luc Plamondon entitled “La femme ou La star”, and will also have a symphonic orchestra. Igor Krutoi will be heavily involved (as in the two new songs Lara sang in Moscow), probably as producer as well. Krutoi in an interview said it would be out in a little more than a year, while Lara implied next spring. Of course we know these things can change greatly.
As a side note, Lara mentioned in passing that “Lou” was not the name she would have chosen for her daughter. That implies that Gerard made the choice – not what one would have expected, given that Lara always refers to Lou as ‘her daughter’, not ‘our daughter’.
Lara also responded to critics of the new album from RTL radio (e.g., Anthony Martin), basically saying that she doesn’t understand why they are so continually negative towards her. While the criticism has saddened her, she noted that her fans do not share this opinion of the album and continue to back her, as is apparent by their reaction on the official site to this criticism. In addition, she said that ever since the birth of ‘Lou’ she has her priorities back in order – and she realizes it’s more important to focus on the positive things in life. Many of the hosts of these radio and TV shows really like Lara (she’s a great guest), and when Lara acknowledges how much the criticism hurts her, it has encouraged them to push-back against these critics - who are now having to respond to attacks on themselves as having been unfair and mean. The audio interview (in French, obviously) can be found at:

Of more interest than reviews to most of Lara’s people (and the record company) are the album sales. The album is currently 6th in sales in France; 30,000 copies have been sold in the first two weeks out of the 50,000 made available to stores – and some stores have already sold out. It is doing well on downloads also, being 10th overall. Larafabianweb.com reports that word from Lara’s staff is that they are quite satisfied with these first sales figures. Of course, summer is approaching – so a lot will depend on the effort Lara puts in during this slack time. One might expect some pick up in the fall as well, when her concerts begin.
As far as the next single from the album is concerned, the rumor, as noted on larafabianweb.com, is that it will be Lara’s song “TLFM”, to be released in late August/early September. Others have suggested “Gottingen” given that she has taken to singing it in public. The advantage of TLFM is that it can be pushed as a ‘new song’’; for Gottingen it is that it is an acknowledged great song. Hopefully there will be an accompanying video to whichever song is chosen.
People in the press are also starting to notice the wonderful letters Lara included in the album. For example, an article in this week’s “France dimanche” recounts Lara’s interaction with Francoise Hardy.
A pink gold pendant consisting of a TLFM medallion that Lara is wearing is being sold at the boutique FRED on "la place Vendôme" (very fancy). It’s cost is 3400 Euros; a smaller version is available for only 1,065 Euros. For a Lara fan who has everything…The pendent can be seen at:

Although apparently this object was produced by a very expensive jeweler, some fans are wondering whether the price is going to have negative repercussions for Lara in the press…
Lara’s entrance into the world of musical comedy is getting more and more attention. In addition to the stories about her appearing in “Victor Victoria” next year, she is getting involved on the organizational level as well. An article appeared in ‘purepeople’, at:

After twelve millions albums sold in the world already, Lara Fabian stood out several days ago with a new opus, Tous les femmes en moi, an anthology of songs dedicated to her feminine idols and led off by “Soleil Soleil” (the pop video which we offered to you) - initially interpreted by Nana Mouskouri. This fresh album fresh was welcomed by the critics...[sic]
And henceforth, she could well become the icon of future generations of singers...
Lara Fabian accepted becoming the new godmother of the International Academy of Musical Comedy (AICOM), the first school of professional formation dedicated to the musical theater, created (in 2004) and directed by Pierre-Yves Duchesne, artist and vocal coach of international reputation. But equally... her personal vocal coach, with whom she continues to exercise her voice. "I am very proud that an artist as prestigious as Lara Fabian supports the work of all the team of the International Academy of musical comedy", rejoices Pierre-Yves Duchesne. "Simple, always listening, in constant search for perfection, Lara Fabian is the ideal godmother for our school. From her multidisciplinary culture, to the daily vocal work that she imposes on herself, she embodies the modern artist, hard working and exacting, in a world quicker to believe in an illusion of stardom." Lara Fabian joins the other godfathers of the AICOM among which are Serge Tapierman (producer of Grease, Fiddler on the Roof), Raymond Duffaut (director of the Chorégies of Orange), Serge Gaymard (director of the Opera of Reims), Jacques Duparc (Producer) and Isabelle Aboulker (composer). Next step: Lara Fabian guest star of a musical comedy of the AICOM?

In them she talks about her career and the new album. However, it turns out that “Platine” does not have a June issue – so Lara’s interview there will probably be in July. Several more public appearances are scheduled for this coming week, and indeed through the rest of June.
