It was a week of television shows, past, present and future (with apologies to Charles Dickens).
Starting with the past, in early December Lara was supposed to appear on the TV show “La Method Cauet”, but it was cancelled, along with all her other public venues, when the album release was postponed. This past week it was announced that the series itself has been cancelled, due to a combination of Cauet’s health (he has heart problems) and poor ratings (the ratings have suffered ever since TF1 moved it from 11:35PM to 10:35 PM). For those of you who haven’t seen it, the show was raucous and funny/cruel (remember Lara being presented with a snake), but she appeared often, and it was one show where she was able to ‘let her hair down’. Cauet often complimented Lara as being one of his favorite guests, and she normally was included on his ‘best of’ compilations. His program is also on radio and that may well continue.
As for the present, the Belgian TV show “Al Dente” is being dedicated to Lara this week. It was recorded on December 20th and will be shown December 27th at 8 PM on Be TV. According to the host Patrick Juvet, Lara was ‘never as revealing as she was on this show’, and that ‘she conquered him’. The hope is that someone in Belgium will record it; some have also suggested asking NABBOX to provide a copy.
As for the future, Jean-Pierre Foucaut indicated on station RTL that Lara and Gerard have contacted him about presenting their TV special on the “Rights of Women”, planned for March 2009. It would then be on TF1, which is a channel that is shown around the world. This would undoubtedly be very good publicity for Lara and her new album, in addition to providing an important public service.
In other news, “purepeople” is still having fun with Lara’s private concert and the amount of money she earned from it. They noted that Miley Cyrus received the equivalent of 145,000 euros for a weekend concert in Houston from a rich Texan. She sang for a crowd of 7000 people, so they calculated that she earned 20.7 euros/person. In contrast, they noted that Lara received 150,000 euros for singing to 100 people, or 1500 euros/person. They ended by commiserating with Miley for having to work for such reduced wages.
Some nice photos of Lara by angeyelliel from the URN tour are available at:

In addition, Lara was at the party celebrating the 5th anniversary of the magazine “Elle” in Belgium last November 7th. Various photos of her at this event are available at:

(Note there are various messages on the page providing different photos).
Farfallina 12 has started arriving in mailboxes, and the few people who have received it said it looks magnificent. Since fan club subscriptions cannot at this point be renewed, this may well be the last magazine until the fan club is reconstituted on the new site (which is still not open).
And last but not least, here's wishing to Lara and to all of you:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
