More information has come out about the new album, as usual from Matt Herskowitz, provided by Laetitia from larafabianweb.com. Here’s the translation:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Release: during December 2008: "Toutes les femmes en moi" (All the Women in Me) : a disc that reprises the magnificent songs of great singers (among others Edith Sparrow, France Gall, Céline Dion, Catherine Lara, Maurane. ..) who influenced Lara as an artist all her life, but reinvented in arrangements completely re-imagined. If the songs represent her past, these arrangements represent the evolution of her voice. A mixture of eclectic styles, including the classical, R&B, jazz, tango and klezmer, among so many others. This disc represents a new departure for Lara, where she launches herself without limits into new territories. When Lara approached me with the idea to do an album of songs of reprises in new arrangements, I knew that that could be something very special and innovative, but I had no idea even where one would arrive… at the end of this great adventure. A true collaboration on an album of essential songs in the life of Lara, arrangements that go much farther than one would have been able to imagine, and a variety met by a voice and a vision, the one of Lara herself. This is a very personal exploration that she wants to share with you, her fans of the present and of tomorrow. You are witnesses to a new step in Lara’s career, where she gives you all her heart and her love, as always, but also all of her history, of her beginnings as an artist to this new progression in her artistic and human life. We all await the release of this disc with a lot of impatience!

The partial list of singers is quite interesting. It does, however, raises questions as to whether Lara has filtered the ‘singers of influence’ to be only among the French, in contrast to what she has said in many previous interviews (where the ‘list’ was basically not French: Barbra Streisand, Maria Calis, Amalia Rodriguez). The inclusion of different styles also sounds interesting (it should also include fado, to be consistent with Lara’s previous comments). Note that his statement does not promise a release date of December 1st, just during December.
Dissatisfaction with an album of reprises has not diminished during the week, with the great majority of fans who have written in expressing disappointment. Addressing the issue, larafabianweb.com tried to pacify people with the following comment (in translation):
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand, the original album foreseen at the start was put in suspension for the moment (it would surely be released during 2009, to confirm afterwards!) for Lara and Matt wished to give us an "exceptional" gift for the year’s end with this album of reprises... we here and now can tell you that this album will be astonishing – larafabianweb.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their comment should not be taken as an indication of what is really likely to happen (if in fact anybody knows). One wonders if they have any special knowledge; remember, they were equally taken in by the false rumors these past several months, and their message does say any additional album is still to be confirmed. Lara’s future plans (not to be confused with reality, necessarily) should hopefully become more apparent during the private concert for her fan club in mid-October…not so far away.
One more video has become available from her concert in Athens with Mario Frangoulis. It was her rendition of “Broken Vow”, and can be found at:

Though taken by a cell phone, the audio is fine; furthermore, the power shown on the vocal is amazing, and suggests Lara can still sing that song as well as ever. But this was in English; will she show that same power on the coming album for her French songs, which she has been reluctant to do these past 5 years?
It was pointed out by “nais08” on the official site that a video of Lara's making of “Les ballons rouges” with Serge Lama is available from his website. It can be found at:
