Information about Lara’s forthcoming album(s) keeps coming in –as usual, potentially conflicting, and of course none of it verified by the official site. In what is claimed on the web to be from Universal, the following information is now widespread (in translation):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian will release her new album December 1st, 2008.
The artist considers that this is in continuity with “9” which was for her the album of rebirth.
The sound will however have nothing to do with her preceding albums.
She is going to astonish you, some ballads with classical rhythms and enchanting with some pop rock songs. Never seen for Lara Fabian!!!
In the album one will find a lullaby for her daughter entitled: “Une Nouvelle Vie” (‘A New Life’), a pop rock song which is going to surprise more than one of you: "Desenvoute-Moi " (‘Release me’).
The first single which is called “Quitte à partir” will be sent to radios around Sept. 22nd and will leave the shelves October 27.

New album with Lara coming soon!
I'm currently working on an exciting new album with Lara Fabian. The project is called "Toutes les Femmes en Moi" (All the Women in Me). Along with my friend and project collaborator producer/saxophonist Charles Papasoff, I'm making new arrangements of some of Lara's favorite songs by female artists that have most influenced her as an artist and songwriter. This album with be entirely French songs, including a new original song by Lara! I won't divulge any more just yet, but I can already guarantee that it's going to be a very beautiful and special recording, exploring a new and exciting musical direction for Lara, and we're both really excited about it:)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So – what does this mean? Matt Herskowitz would certainly seem to be a reliable source – but in the past, he has said he was working with Lara on a classical album – is this it? The so-called Universal album also seems to have ‘classical rhythms’. Are there actually going to be two albums available soon – one with original songs, and one mainly of reprises? As usual, we will have to stay tuned.
Speaking of twos: it was pointed out that on web sites (including Playbill) discussing the new play “Play It Cool”, the following information is included:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sets for "PLAY IT COOL" will be designed by Lara Fabian with costumes by T. Michael Hall, lights by Deb Sullivan and sound by Peter Fitzgerald and Carl Casella. Roy Gabay is General Manager with Chris Aniello as Company Manager.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While initially this raised the question of whether Lara was branching off into a new and completely unexpected direction, it is now evident that there are two Lara Fabians. Here’s a bio of the other one:
Lara Fabian (Scenic Design)
Recent design work includes Play it Cool (NYMF '08) Green Girl (Summer Play Festival '08) Semi-Permanent (Ace of Clubs, Spin Cycle NYC) Proximity (Sonnet Repertory Theatre) The Tailers (Crown Point Festival) A Beautiful Child (NY Fringe '07) Look What a Wonder Jesus Has Done (NYMF '07) The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged, Adventures from Ezra Jack Keats, and Metamorphoses (Weston Playhouse), Demon Dreams, Vanishing Point, and I have Loved Strangers (Williamstown Theater Festival Workshop) Tom Jones and The Oldest Story Ever Told (The Theater at Monmouth), When the World was Green (Luna Stage). Lara is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts.
The use of the same name is not allowed in the same creative arts field, but though these are both show-business related, they are apparently different enough that no one has complained. In any event, it would be hard to make the news of Lara (the first one) more confusing than it already is. [Perhaps the second one is doing the second album ]
It was noted this week that Lara (the first one) was at a concert given by Nicole Croisille. In the report it indicated that she was “accompanied by the man in her life with whom she is going to get married in May 2009, in Belgium”. The hackneyed phrase ‘time will tell’ obviously applies here, too.
