Information surfaced this week that Lara will be appearing on the Star Academy 8 TV series. The shows will begin September 3rd on French TF1, and continue to the end of the year. Speculation is that she might sing something from her new album (it would be good publicity) if it is indeed ready by then. However, she generally does not do new songs live right away (remember the lip-synching she did for awhile on the songs from "Neuf" when it first came out).
Concerning the new album, the detailed news about Lara’s future plans noted last week from ‘charts in france’ has been picked up and is now being carried by many sites (including Cheri FM). As we have seen, this does not in the least imply all of it is accurate, and we have also learned that Lara and her people do not consider it their responsibility to correct misinformation unless somehow forced to. Nevertheless, it is being taken seriously. As just one example, last.fm (http://www.last.fm/event/611551) even lists Lara’s presumed concert for October 21, 2009 at the Théâtre Sébastopol in Lille, shows a poster, and gives a link for ordering tickets (it doesn’t work). If this is really still the result of the earlier ‘mis-information’, that will be another ludicrous chapter in the annals of Lara and the press. If all of it does come to pass, then we’ll have to revise our assessment of those earlier press releases to Lara’s websites.
It was also noted, by ‘italian 974’ on Laradom, that a January 1, 2008 listing of album releases in Spain had predicted an album by Lara for December 2, under their “international release’ category. This is just one day after the oft-repeated release date of 12/1 for France; is that just a coincidence, or are things actually going as planned that far back? Furthermore, is this then the predicted “international album” that she had once said she was recording in Los Angeles? If the oft-repeated comment concerning its make-up is true, it will have only three non-French songs – not the sort of album one would imagine would be given an international push, but, of course that break-down may be completely wrong.
On the Official site, ‘tit ange’ pointed out that Lara’s music has surfaced in a “vampire comedy” movie, ”Les Dents de la Nuit”, If one goes to the web site
www.lesdentsdelanuit.fr/
and click on the Edouard’s Presentation, one can hear “Love by Grace” (seems like an appropriate enough title for this movie!). If one watches the full trailer (clicking on the movie itself), at the very end it indicates that no vampires were injured in the making of it. Obviously Lara had to approve this, and I imagine she got a kick out of it.
Concerning the competition to sing with Lara in October: the musical accompaniment for “J’y crois encore” is now available from the official site. People have noticed that from both a tempo and a scale point of view, it is very hard to sing – especially for a male. The question has been raised as to whether one can send in something without this particular accompaniment. Though no official answer has been given, my guess is that Lara wanted to make sure the accompanying voice was compatible scale-wise with hers, and so using the music provided is probably mandatory.
Two photos of Lara appeared at the end of the magazine “Gala”, taken at the Nana Mouskouri farewell concert. Also “France Dimanche” included a small picture of Lara with Nana; it is available on Hezia’s site (go ¾ of the way down the page) at:

(on that same page near the top, one can find a link to another photo Chara put of Lara with Mario Frangoulis and George Perris).
The press is obviously hungry for Lara’s re-emergence (as are we).
