The big news this week obviously was the refurbishing of Lara's Official Site. Apparently the periodic closing of parts of the site during the weekends for the past several months had significance after all. Most of the comments concerning it were positive, with people writing in to comment on the sleek looking design and wonderful photos of Lara gracing its various components. Others, however, still feel it lacks professionalism. Apparently some people also had trouble accessing portions of the site, a problem that seems to be getting resolved. There's no sense in going over in detail what everyone can see for themselves, but here are a few points that come to mind:
1) As indicated in another post, Lara wrote a small message introducing the new appearance of the site, in which she indicated that it would progressively reveal to you some new surprises. That would seem to imply that they will use the site the way other artists use theirs, to provide a range of material that wouldn't be available elsewhere (including, hopefully, video and audio downloads). Lara's site previously has been very grudging concerning that.
Also, the fact that this introduction was written (albeit in French) on the Italian version of the site as well marks the first update for that language in some 18 months. (There was no updating of the previous, missed messages.)
2)Lara's upcoming concert schedule includes 4 shows with Mario Frangoulis in Greece, her Russian show, and one in the Ukraine. The posting of the dates, all in May, would seem to imply they are firm. Noticeably absent, unfortunately, are any concerts so far in Italy.
3) Lara's discography appears to have been redone, with attention to detail for each of the albums. However, it still omits "La Difference" from the "Pure" album, even though, after the legal issues were apparently resolved, the 2007 re-release put it back on (and it is available from amazon.com, for example). Presumably the same holds true for the live albums that had it.
4) The bio has nothing past the summer of 2006; maybe one of the surprises in the coming months will be that some mention will be made of the child!
The effort expended to put new life into this site, and the somewhat risqué photos that Lara has included of herself, suggest that she wants to make sure she is not forgotten during this time of hiatus in her career. The indication that she still takes her career seriously is good news for all her fans, as is her return to public performances in May (which will mark 6 months after her child's birth, a duration many fans had suggested her 'leave' would last).
In other news, Lara appeared February 25th at the "Moustiques D'Or" in Belgium honoring contributors to the audio/visual field. She accompanied Gerard and apparently was also there in support of Vanessa Kit, to whom she wrote expressing her support. She is also friendly with the humorist Virginia Hocq who was present. A picture of Lara (in the background) can be found at:

Additional photos were made available by Celine on the official site at:

This month Lara is presumably supposed to go to Quebec, at least in part to work on her next album. We shall see if there is any news concerning this on the refurbished official site.
