As Christmas nears (a holiday Lara says she loves), and with her own special circumstances, the official news concerning Lara remains light. However, there were some interesting developments that suggest Lara is slowly emerging from her maternal cocoon.
David Birch, in response to last weeks update on LaradomUS, had noted that Lara was scheduled to appear at the Marka 2007 conference in Istanbul December 13th. And he provided the link:

As you can see (from the speakers and program menus) it lists Lara giving an on-stage interview scheduled to last about 45 minutes. The conference concerns marketing, and Lara did open her own record company in Canada.
The natural tendency was to think that this was a commitment she had agreed to some time ago, and there was no chance she would leave her child to go there. However, it appears Lara did attend, according to the following article from December 14th in the Turkish Daily News (http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=91342&contact=1) :

The responsibilities of brands to society, the future of marketing and the nature of thinking, were the topics of discussion at the Marka 2007 International brand conference in Istanbul held at the Çırağan Palace Kempinski Hotel yesterday.
Some world-renowned brand creators including Kenneth Cole, Lara Fabian, Petteri Kilpinen, Zeynep Yalın Uzun, Robert Friedman and Lama Shenpen Rinpochea attended the eighth year of the conference.
Kenneth Cole, the owner of the Kenneth Cole Productions Inc., highlighted the importance of determination, instincts and essence in order to create a successful brand.
“The best solution is the most creative one to reach the ultimate goal,” said Cole. “The ultimate challenge you confront on the way of the ultimate goal is reflecting your work on the principles hastily and effectively.

It is possible that the list mentioned was simply culled from the prospective participants, and Lara was not actually there, but taking it at face value, it would imply she was up to and interested in traveling for a business meeting. If true, can professional entertainment venues be far behind?
Further evidence of Lara's emergence is that angeyelliel on Hezia's site claimed that a website mentioned Lara was in Paris on December 19th. If so, it apparently was not for the sake of promoting the anticipated theatre production. According to darkloic on Laradom, Lara is in a total break at this moment [maybe outside of the business conference!], and she is busy with her child and with writing for her next musical release. The theatre performance has been cancelled. If true, this would not be a great shock; it was pointed out last week that no advertisements had appeared for the show, no theatre indicated, no tickets sold, etc.
In past statements, Lara indicated she wanted a way to keep the baby with her while she performed, something that was not possible while traveling to concerts, so the (stationary) theatre locale seemed ideal. In addition, possibly in response to declining record sales, she mentioned she was looking to broaden her entertainment activities, with acting in the cinema and on stage being for her the obvious new choices. And the novelty factor cannot be ignored - after 80 concerts in little more than a year, she may simply have wanted a change. Well, so far the movie career has not taken off - we heard that she refused to participate in a film earlier this year because of creative conflicts with the director, although she has mentioned that she is considering a part as a 'profiler' in an American production (a part which, at the time, she had still not auditioned for). And now acting in the theatre may be over before it began. If the novelty factor was indeed a driving impetus, her new child may be providing enough of that (and it has been a while since she did a live concert). For those of us who especially appreciate her music, a desire to focus on that would be the preferred outcome!
An article appeared this week on Lara as a 'new mother' in the publication "Nous deux". The gorgeous cover picture of Lara can be seen at:

Apparently there is nothing really new in the story except for the mention of Lara celebrating her first Christmas as a mother. The photos are all old - 3 of Lara and Gerard at the 'Molieres' [which may therefore have been her only 'professional' contact with the theatre] and one photo of her at Cannes [perhaps her one movie venture?]. Even the cover photo is not new, it is apparently from the 'Victoires' in 2003 when Lara was nominated with Maurane for 'Tu es mon autre' (thanks to Clothilde on the official site).
The scans of the article were prohibited from appearing on Hezia's site because they concerned Lara's personal life (it apparently discusses her past relationships as well). For once, some people rebelled, saying that if anything having to do with the child was prohibited, no articles would ever appear again on these sites. The hope of these 'censors' is that eventually press interest in the child will fade away, which is probably true - but the continual issue of drawing lines between the personal and professional life of a public entertainment figure is a foolish task (which as noted previously, has often come down to censoring Lara herself).
Some other very nice, older photos of Lara in Paris can be found on Hezia's site (thanks to angeyeliel) at:

French TV TF1 will be showing the "Un Regard Neuf" concert overnight on New Years Eve (at 3:15 AM, local time), following their broadcast of other recorded concerts that evening. They showed it last New Year's Eve as well.
In a previous year, Lara left a special Christmas message video on her website; it will be interesting to see if she (and her team) make any special effort in that regard this time. But in any event, Merry Christmas to Lara and her family - and to all of you!
