Lara has mailed out letters to those who sent her baby gifts. The text of the letter reads (in translation): "I want to thank you personally for your delicate attention for our little Lou; that touched me very much; I take advantage of it to wish you beautiful end of the year holidays and that the new year which begins brings to you all the happiness in the world; see you soon somewhere; with all my tenderness; love, lara".
Apparently, it is the same letter being sent to everyone, and has just arrived in European venues.
Concerning Lara's current condition, she and Gerard were shown in the current issue of "Le voici" leaving the maternity hospital. The article said that Lara has 'taken refuge' in her house (in Belgium). Hopefully scans of the article will become available (but probably not on the official or semi-official sites, which seem to have adopted the view that the press are their enemies, and all articles not strictly 'musical' are 'verboten').
Speaking of music, word came out this week from different sources concerning coming releases. Nashyouri on Laradom says that a new song of Lara's was sent to radio stations, with the request that it be broadcast beginning January 1st. And information attributed to larafabianweb.com (though I didn't actually see it there) is that the multi-lingual album is scheduled to be released next April 9th (as opposed to 2009 as originally indicated).
How much of this is real and how much rumor remains to be seen; as we know, even if there is some truth to it, specific dates rarely if ever turn out to be very relevant. Questions concerning the 'new song' include: What language will it be in? Will it be about Lou (and if so, when would Lara have recorded it)? And what album would it eventually appear on? If the 'multi-lingual' album is coming this spring, that would seem to be the logical choice - but then, what about the Italian album?
Concerning the last point, members of the Lara Fabian Italian Forum" posted a message to Lara's father on the official website. In part it reads (in translation):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"On October 13, 2006, Lara wrote in her message:
'After the promotion [of 'URN'] has ended, I will be in the studio for the next project: I am going for it: an album in Italian. It has been a long time that I've thought of it…then I don't think of it anymore, I do it…Italy remains this part of me that I have still not truly explored in music and then finally the occasion presents itself…And the PARTY begins!!!'
That was done more than a year ago. The year 2008 is almost here and we feel the need to ask some questions in the hope of finding some answers which will permit us to feed our dreams, or destroy them forever. We don't want to continue to live in the hope and illusion given by these long waits, and for this reason, we have decided to use this space, to ask for some clarifications.
What in our hearts we most want to know is if behind the delay of the release of Lara's album in Italian is hidden some problems which risk annulling its realization.
We wonder about it because for a long time now we have not read any messages from Lara which refer to this project of the Italian album. In her last input she even spoke about a next album in French, and that has fed the fears that we have had for a long time. An eventual album of Lara in her maternal language would be for us an immense joy and a unique emotion, a great happiness which we have thought about for a long time, and which we dream to see realized.
What we would like to know is therefore: after having taken advantage of this magical moment of maternity, when Lara returns to work, will the Italian album be one of her priorities, or must it be, for the moment, put to the side?
We would love to know if we can rejoice in the idea of a cd totally in Italian in 2008, or if we must resign ourselves to waiting still?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It concludes by saying that there are people in Italy who follow her assiduously regardless of the language in which she sings, and will do so regardless of whether there is an Italian album.
Needless to say, there was no response from Lara's father or anyone else. This example puts the 'news' of future releases in the proper perspective.
Finally, in the "Entre Fans" section on the official site, Pato and the "Dentist" have started a 'Lara Fabian calendar' for 2008. So far the months of January and February are available at:
