Lara is still waiting for the birth of her child, so once again, this 'news' update has more analysis than news.
As of the time of this update, no birth announcement has been made. The uncertainty as to what the due date really is makes it impossible to know whether the child is late or not. If we go by Eve's 'official' announcement on the Lara's website, the birth is not due until mid-November, so we may still be some two weeks away.
However, you wouldn't know this by Lara's new communication, dated 11/2. (At the moment it still has not been translated into English, but one presumes that will happen; if by some slight chance it doesn't, one will be provided here.) In it she discusses her preparations for Halloween (which will apparently be shown in Farfallina #8), and her recent interests in music, literature, food, movies etc. She notes that "I have already begun writing and seriously reflecting on the red thread of my next musical release. It will not be quite what one expects of me…But that, you who know me well, you already know that."
Nowhere in this message is the coming birth mentioned. One has to think that the criticism Lara has gotten in the press for being so open with the fans concerning her physical and mental state has forced her to shy away from such intimate details. She may not have had to be pushed too far; she only went public in the first place when her hand was forced by the press, and it became too obvious. Then she ran into the criticism for the 'baby gift' fiasco - she may have concluded, once again, that anything relating to her personal life ends up giving her trouble, so best to avoid it as much as possible. The latest Farfallina (#7) also had nothing about the child, and even positioned most of the photos so that her pregnancy was not obvious. How this will be handled in the future is a question - it may quickly fall back into the 'personal life' category and be banned from the official and affiliated websites.
Her comment about the 'next release' also raises a number of questions. As we know Lara historically has written her music with her boyfriend of the time - but now, her boyfriend is not a musical person. So what will emerge? She mentioned that the coming Italian album will be more 'rhythmic'; she also implied that in the coming 'multi-lingual' album being recorded in Los Angeles she will be primarily (maybe exclusively) singing other people's songs. After the 'Un Regard Neuf" tour, she said several times that the 'power singer was back'. So will this new album mark a return to the 'Fabian/Allison' school of songs, rising to a peak of emotional energy and range? Is this even possible anymore, with Lara's current singing style and without Rick Allison? She mentions that it will be something unexpected, so perhaps we can't let the past be a guide. In any event, one imagines that we'll have to wait some time for it - if the Italian album comes out during the first half of 2008, and the multi-lingual album close to 2009, the next release would probably not be for another two years or so. At that time, one would guess it would be in French.
Again, best wishes to mother and child for the coming birth.
