This was a confusing week for Lara's fans, and possibly for Lara herself.
It started with the saga of the concert in Algiers. The concert scheduled for June 14th had never been listed on the official site, causing many people to forget about it, including some who intended to go (and it was overlooked in last week's update). Nevertheless, several Algerian publications had articles about it, including one which started: "The star of French song, Lara Fabian, will be in the arena of the Hilton Hotel. And this is not a joke! For the singer who has sold 12 million discs around the world, will be well and truly there, in Algiers, for the first time."
However, it turned out that it was a 'joke' (not really), because Lara was not there. The concert was postponed at the last moment, leaving some people still assuming it was on until they showed up at the hotel. Originally announced that it was postponed due to 'logistics difficulties', it was later amended to say that Lara was sick. The announcement further said that it would be rescheduled for a time within the next two weeks (by the end of the month).
If in fact she was sick, it would seem not to be too serious, given the timeline anticipated for the make-up concert. However, there's some reason to question the 'explanation'. elliot67 complained on the official site about the event never having been listed (along with a number of other issues indicative of a lack of effort concerning that site). The response was 'why should it have been listed when nothing was ever signed?' At this point, it would seem it is going to take place, but perhaps we will only know that for sure in retrospect. BTW, tickets cost 50 euros, which is ½ the minimum wage.
One interesting bit of information that did come out in the Algerian press was what was meant by '12 million discs' - it refers to 8 million albums sold, and 4 million singles. Odd that we have to learn that from an Algerian publication.
Other things that did not take place: The program "Vivement dimanche", hosted by Michel Drucker on Maurane, was supposed to have a recording Lara made for it. It didn't - just a short clip of their duo, with no actual mention of Lara on the show. The 'rapprochement' between the two of them, healing the split that developed following Lara's hiring of Maurane's manager Sophie, would therefore appear to be on pretty shaky grounds. People had wondered why Lara didn't show up for the actual taping of it, as she was still in town before the Moscow concert.
And then there is the " Fête de la musique 2007" on June 21 in Paris. Lara was originally scheduled to participate in this big show, which will be televised, but even at this late date no one is sure whether she will actually be there (given the history of occasions like this, the odds are that she won't be). As usual, the official site is no help - many of the questions concerning it are posted in the forum on that site, with no reply.
In the category of surprising things that did take place: you may remember that Lara was on the interview show S.O.D.A. back in March on TV5. I, and everyone else, forgot to record it, and it was the one show that their website did not have in their archives. Numerous requests for it on that website went unanswered, and the thought was it might have been lost. Out of the blue, S.O.D.A. showed it again this past weekend, and now everybody caught it. It features an interview of about 7 minutes with Lara in her apartment in Paris, in the Saint Germain des Pres area (known for bookshops, cafes and art stores). Nice to see a bit of the apartment and Lara, as poised as always. She repeated her comments about being a 'citizen of the world' when the question of her nationality arose; and she also repeated that she worries that she has not performed at her best in various concerts. The video of it is (finally) available on the web.
The official magazine 'Farfallina' 6 has been mailed, and should start arriving outside of Belgium this week. When elliot67 complained about the lack of new pictures on the official site, he was told that that's what the magazine 'Farfallina' was for. It certainly has become that - almost nothing but photo ops. But at least the pictures are beautiful…
And speaking of nice pictures: Lara appeared in the magazine "Voici", talking again about the necessity of having a child, perhaps even by adoption. And a few nice pictures are included. Thanks to zouzouille66, see the scan at:

As elliot67 noted, the single of 'Un cuore malato' fell one spot, to number 17 on the French charts. However, at 'Carrefour's' it has risen to number 7. It is also a featured video on msn.fr, available at:

The video is listed as 'Un cuore malato' but the version they play is actually 'Un coeur blesse'; the distinction between the two seems to have been erased.
Whatever it is, the promotion for it continues this week. Lara is scheduled to be with Gigi on the program "Fan de", presumably to be aired June 23; this show has already been taped, so it is just a matter of when it will actually appear. Then on the 24th, she is to be on Belgian channel RTBF with Gigi for the program "Bonnie and Clyde". Taping of that is scheduled for the 20th. Hopefully, we will have new versions of their duo.
