Almiro, writing on the official site, posted a great review of Lara's concert in Moscow. It was worthy of being translated...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was simply incredible…I don't find the words to express myself…and from yesterday evening I cannot prevent myself from crying…
Before the concert, my friends and I met Lara in front of the doors of the hall…she thanks us for our photos (we gave her an album with photos of Russian towns, taken by the fans of Lara). Me I thanked her again for all that she did, for her music which reunites people, which helps in finding true friends…she said "thanks to you" and took me by the hand…I was so touched…
Towards 7:30 the public was seated in the room and the marvel began…one heard the first notes of 'je suis malade' the curtain opens and one sees Lara…the room explodes in applause and she begins to sing…but what is it that one hears? She sang in Russian… in lieu of "je ne reve plus" she said "ya bolshe ne metshtaiou"…I couldn't truly believe, it was so touching…I've never cried at Lara's concerts but there, it was impossible not to cry….it was a sorrow in the pure state, an incredible despair….after the song there was a superb ovation…
After she sang 'Angel' and dedicated it to Gregory Lemarchall... "Some days ago a marvelous child left us. I sing this song for him and I am sure that he hears us there where he is now", she sang the whole song with tears in her eyes and on the words "may you find some comfort here" she raised her eyes towards the sky…
'Hijo de la luna'…and these words before 'Mujer contra Mujer': "When I was an adolescent, I was always fascinated by all that was prohibited. I even wrote a song of all that. And now I want to sing a song which speaks of something magical…and it is true that even in 2007 some things still remain taboo"
"Mujer contra Mujer"…all simply magnificent…such emotion - and the public listens to Lara, not daring even to breathe…
'Tango'…the sensual gestures and the almost forbidden passion - just like in the concert at the Casino de Paris…and the gesture towards Pierre Grimard at the end of the song - the light touch on his shoulder…
'Il existe un endroit' - the laughing eyes and the voice of crystal - to keep precisely in the heart…because it is necessary not to forget the marvels.
'Parce que tu pars' - one of the strongest songs of the concert…it was the cry - the pain so profound that it seems impossible to hide it…I was totally shaken, and it was difficult to see the stage across the tears. Lara did not play - she lived this song, this pain…she had no fear of showing it, of giving all her heart and that - one will never forget it.
After 'La difference' a guy from the audience gave 2 bouquets of flowers to Lara while showing that one is for Pierre. Lara said in English" "Pierre, but it is a guy who gave you some flowers! It is funny because we just sang 'La difference'." Everyone was dieing of laughter!
'I Guess I Loved You'. 'Traviata' and a magnificent 'Caruso'…she never repeats her interpretation of this song and manages to make it different each time…an incredible sincerity and the words to the bottom of her heart that we have the luck of seeing..
"It is true that it remains only to write songs of love. And today I sing this song for someone in this room, for he knows that I love him". 'Aime' the quintessence of love, of light, of kindness…
And then…'J'ai zappe' when Lara doesn’t' stop moving, she dances and she sparkles - it is magnificent! I hoped that she lets us sing a part of this song but I forget that the Russian public doesn't know the words of 'J'ai zappe' by heart…it was super nevertheless.
And…'Summertime'. Magic…a jazz improvisation, created by Lara to be hallucinatory…and then…"your solo, Mr. Grimard!" who plays magnificently…without a doubt Pierre is one of the greatest pianists that I've ever encountered in my life…and yes - there is this link between Lara and him - a link very particular….without words - a total comprehension. "I was 19 when I met Pierre… and there is a song that we sing since, all the time, like for ourselves". 'My Funny Valentine'…their small smiles between Lara and Pierre when she looked him right in the eyes while singing "hush, little baby, don't you cry"…
'Calling You'…like at the end of words, at the end of emotions…a little too much but so beautiful…
And 'Pas sans toi' . "Yesterday on the Russian radio someone asked me a question which is my favorite song of all my French songs. It is 'Pas sans toi'. I know that now in the room there are some Quebecoise friends. It is for you." And - 'Pas sans toi' - with tears in her eyes, she almost cried. And me - I cried also for I lived this song with her - each word, each note…
A long ovation, "Thanks, thanks a thousand times" and she leaves…but the audience doesn't want to leave, the people stand, we cry: "We love you Lara", "bravo", and she returns with Pierre. He seats himself at the piano and she reflects a little to decide which song will be the last. 'Je t'aime'! cries someone in the room. "Yes?" says Lara, she laughs and gives a sign to Pierre who begins to play…"But only if you sing with me!". She begins the song and then the audience continues…I don't believe - finally! The audience in Moscow singing with Lara! It was all simply magical - our voices singing "Je t'aime, je t'aime"" Lara had been so touched - she almost cried. She ended the song while singing "Moscow, I love you like that" . She was so happy after the reaction of the people on this song, sending us her heart - like she often does it and repeating "Thank you, thank you".
And me I am still without words...I have only one word to say: THANKS. For all that you do. For this love, these tears, these bursts of laughter. For this courage and this sincerity…for your simple words and so close, for everything. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH…
