Several events topped the news this week. Of course the lead item from early in the week was the passing of Greg Lemarchal from cystic fibrosis. The homage to Greg was held on Friday, shown on TF1, and by all reports it was very dignified and respectful, and appropriately emotional. Helene Segara and Nolwenn Leroy were among those present, and 7.5 million euros were brought in to help fight this disease. Additional earnings from Greg's music will be given to this cause as well. The web page devoted to the event features various videos of Greg, and can be found at videos.tf1.fr/video/musique/gregory-lemarchal/
As for Lara, her participation was limited to the use of their duet of "Un Ave Maria" from last December's Star Academy presentation (available in part 3 under podcasts on the tf1 web page). Various eulogies were given by artists, and their words are reproduced (in French) by stephane25 in Laradom:

Lara, however was not present (probably due to her concert in Portugal the following night) and no tape of any comments she may have made was shown. One can speculate as to why this was, considering how much Greg loved and admired her - it may have been due to sadness, or to a desire to keep her feelings private. For now, all we have are the brief comments her father provided on Lara's web site,

as given in another post.
On a personal note, I have a good friend who has cystic fibrosis, and she is one of the 500 people in the world who has lived to the age of 40 with this ailment. She has done this by being extremely proactive whenever she feels ill, in effect demanding that doctors provide her with the most up-to-date medicine, and making use of all the laws that exist to provide funding for people in such situations. Apparently that, and a whole lot of luck, is what it takes. She is perfectly aware that the next time she goes to the hospital may well be the last. Like Greg, she has made the most of her life (she is a lawyer who goes around the country helping people with disabilities obtain their legal rights). Living under such a sword clearly emphasizes the need to follow the dictum Lara's father (and Lara) reminded us of, "Carpe Diem".
The other major event of the week, was Lara's concert last night in Lisbon. Presumably we will get some info on this as the week (or day) progresses, but at the time of this writing none was available. It will be interesting to see the set list, in particular the language of the songs; the last time Lara was in Lisbon (in the same theatre) she sang songs from AWL, and now the Italian album is up-coming, but it seems to be Lara's approach to never debut songs ahead of an album's release. (Even after the release, she usually lip-synchs them the first few times, saying that she wants the audience to get their first impression from the recorded version.)
This coming week was the time Lara was supposed to go to Nepal, which was cancelled in favor of the Italian album promotion. What she actually will do is unclear: Lara indicated that she had TV performances lined up, so one would presume they would be coming the next few weeks in Italy. She also noted she would be doing some writing at this time, perhaps in an attempt to finish the Italian album. A month ago it was announced that she would be one of the participants for the Laurette Fuguain Association concert (a benefit to fight leukemia) on May 20th, though she is not actually listed on their website. Her next scheduled public appearance is May 28th in Moscow.
