I have been listening to a lot of different artist's music lately. Therefore I haven't listened to much of Lara in the past few weeks. I am used to listening to her everyday. Yesterday I listened to a CD, I made, of all my favorite Lara studio songs. It was like falling in love with her music all over again. I had a big smile on my face as each song started. I never tire of Lara's music. I can not say that about any other singer.
Just an observation.

I know just what you mean, Paula, and it is a great observation. That is exactly what Bruce Springsteen music does for me. I have been listening to Bruce all my life. Many times I will go long periods of time without listening to him at all, and then when I do go back to him again their is a freshness to it all over again! I love that an artist can have that much of an impact on your life. I think it speaks volumes of that artist. I haven't been listening much to Lara lately either because I have received so much new music that I find myself fascinated with (Paula and Leona being largely to blame!) But I can count on the same effect on me that you are now experiencing when I pick up her music again, Paula!

When I listen to Lara's songs after a little break I feel just like several years before, when I was dicsovering her music. I could listen to her all over again, and falling in love with her voice time and again... [glow=red,2,300]"Then you walked into my life In a blaze of light"[/glow]

I feel the same way. When I listen to Lara's music after not listening to it for a while I feel like I'm discovering her music all over again. Lara is also the only artist that has not left my MP3 player, I always have her music on there because how it affects me. There are times that I listen to other artists alot but I never go but to their albums with the same feeling as I do with Lara's.

Another observation.
As I was going over the lyrics to Lara's songs for the album reviews and the "what song is it" game, I noticed that Lara refers to relationships, life etc as games quite often. I realize some of the songs Lara did not write but she still chose to use them. For instance:
I've Cried Enough - "Life's a big game of chess"
J'ai Zappe - "I do not understand anymore who takes the game." and "It's like a card game without jokers"
L'amour Voyage - "You play the game"
I Am Who I Am - "I won't lose this game"
Si Tu N'as Pas D'amour - "Be the strongest at Trivial Pursuit"
Love By Grace - "I didn't come here to lose"
Tango - "I feel like a horse life pushes me in the race" and "animal or matador"
Rio - "The football to the foot"
Not sure what it means. I just found it interesting.
Another thing that runs in a lot of Lara's songs is "lies". For another discussion!!!

Very interesting observation, Paula! I think it is more than just a coincidence that she would refer to "game" so often in her lyrics, whether written by her or just a song that she chose to sing. It must be part of the way in which she views life, love, relationships, etc. And it must also be a clear way to paint a picture as an artist of how she really feels inside. With a game there is tension between the sides, a winner and a loser, moves that have to be made, gains and losses, prizes for victory, etc. What aspect of the "game" do you think that Lara is most referring to when she uses it so often in her songs, Paula?

I think it's the competition - the winning and losing. I believe Lara is very competitive. I would hope that she doesn't look at relationships as a game but maybe she sees the breakup as game - pitting one against the other.
Et Vous?

Qui Penses à L’amour - You are agitated, you run or you play pinball
Here is another reference to games in a Lara's song.
