A number of previously-recorded events were aired this week, as well as some continual promotions for 'Un Regard Neuf' in what may be the last concentrated media push for some time to come.
The week was noticeable for the televising of two mini-concerts recorded toward the end of last year. 'ConcertPop' appeared on Canadian television (Musimax) last Monday featuring Lara and a pianist. Lara sang nine songs, discussed her previous interactions with the piano, and the pianist. One notable feature was a short clip of Lara as a girl playing a piece from Chopin; other highlights included her performances of "Angel" and "Pas Sans Toi". Videos are available on the web. The show was taped when she was in Canada in late November.
And then this weekend Lara's performance on the program 'Acoustic' (French TV5) aired with an additional 5 songs plus interview. Particularly fine renditions of "Aime", "Tout" (in bossa nova form) and "Immortelle" were included. The program was taped in December, and videos are again widely available. On both shows, Lara seemed in fine voice and occasionally passionate.
Publicity for 'Un Regard Neuf' continued with a video shown in conjunction with the magazine PUBLIC, featuring primarily clips from the bonus section of the DVD. Lara also discussed it on the show Hits & Co, on TF1, this past Saturday. And she was on the program "Prochaine Sortie" on Radio Canada, shown first on the 12th and to be repeated tonight. Videos of the first two appearances are available, and hopefully the last will become so.
Concerning the sales: Charts in France indicates that the DVD is #21 (total annual sales 26,831 copies). "Aime" as a single has dropped two places, and is #30.
On Hits & Co Lara also briefly discussed the upcoming Italian album, as still scheduled for the Spring. An exact date has even been offered: April 9th. On the forum 'Charts in France', it was indicated by someone (who said they spoke with Lara personally) that the album would include English and French as well; and if all went well, it would be released in France sometime after the Italian release. An additional rumor has a multilingual album coming out at the end of the year. We all know by now not to place much credence in exact dates (or even albums), but presumably, with fewer scheduled public appearances for the next two months, Lara would seem to have time to work.
And fewer public appearances are what is currently on the schedule. In fact, none are listed through the rest of this month. It will be interesting to see if Lara really stays out of public view for awhile; if so, it will make these news updates much shorter.
