Lara had a low key week, publicly, with perhaps the most important aspect being that when she reposted the schedule of her springtime concerts in Eastern Europe, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=931662734984687&set=a.259330805551220
(which now includes a new date, for Budapest), she added the comment, “A quick summary of the first dates… first dates… The best is yet to come🧡.” So as was expected, her “Je t’aime 2024’ tour will be more expansive than so far publicized. The Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site had this comment, “The dates for the new tour in France, Belgium and Switzerland will arrive later. This new tour would be planned for 2025.”
One can speculate where else it will go, outside of those mentioned just above. Quebec, possibly the US would seem probable, or least somewhat likely – but it would be extra-special if she could make it less predictable, and try out places that haven’t seen her recently, or at all – English speaking Canada and Western Europe, Asia, South America, perhaps even Australia. The fact that the tour has a French title makes these less likely, but still not impossible. Still, it would require her to have confidence she can attract an audience large enough to justify the expense - a Catch 22, since without seeing her first, it's hard for the general public to be interested. Without a hit single, one has to build an audience (as Lara did in Russia) but she's been less aggressive in these other countries. And then there's Italy...
Another question that arises in this regard is that the same FB site that provided ‘rumor’/info that she would have a new album out this year is the one that mentioned her “Je t’aime” tour would be continuing in 2025. A new album would normally suggest a tour to promote it – and there doesn’t seem to be a place on her schedule for that in the next year or two. Also there is the possible collaboration with Slimane…It would seem nothing is very clear at this time.
To emphasize her enthusiasm for this ‘upcoming’ tour Lara posted the following picture of herself on her social media sites,
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=933337498150544&set=a.259330805551220
with the caption, “Can’t wait to see you in real again … je pense à vous 💕”
.
Lara also posted the video, and a picture, of her duet with Johnny Hallyday from 1998, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHwIF6jmOCY
with her comment, “It was just yesterday, or almost 🖤🤍”
The likely reason for this entry was that it was the anniversary of the date he passed away, on December 5, 2017. There was a documentary "Johnny Hallyday, France rock'n roll : a tribute to the rocker" that appeared this past week on the Le Figaro TV channel. In an off-topic article, here’s a review of it (https://tvmag.lefigaro.fr/programme-tv/ce-soir-tele/notre-critique-du-documentaire-johnny-hallyday-la-france-rock-n-roll-un-hommage-au-rocker-sur-la-chaine-le-figaro-tv-20231206):
-----------------------------------
To celebrate six years since the death of the iconic rocker, Wednesday December 6 is dedicated to him on the Le Figaro TV Île-de-France channel. To watch in particular, the poignant documentary by Jean-Christophe Rosé, Johnny Hallyday, la France rock'n'roll, broadcast at 8:30 p.m.
In addition to the musician Yvan Cassar, featured on “Buzz TV” (6:30 p.m.), Greg Szlap, Johnny’s harmonica player, and Jean-Claude Camus, his producer, guests on “Bienvenue en Île-de-France” (7 p.m.), the Le Figaro TV Île-de-France channel broadcasts Johnny Hallyday, France rock'n'roll (8:30 p.m.). Directed by Jean-Christophe Rosé, this portrait is followed by a report on the Gretsch White Falcon, the idol's guitar. The documentary, with voice-over commentary by Richard Berry, is built around a long interview with Daniel Rondeau, carried out in Los Angeles in April 2017, six months before the rocker's death. The idea is to have him tell the story of his life and career by placing them in current political and social events. In France and around the world.
Very moving archive images
As much as Johnny Hallyday could be inexhaustible on Elvis Presley, the blues, cinema, beautiful cars, the women in his life and the United States, geopolitical analysis was not exactly his strong point. The rocker appears laconic. General de Gaulle? “ He said that with my energy it was necessary to send me out on the roads to build highways,” he remembers with a smile. May 68? “ I spent it in Saint-Tropez setting up barricades in front of the town hall with Eddy Mitchell.“
If the images of the victims of Islamist terrorists at the Bataclan and at Charlie Hebdo make sense, because the rocker has paid tribute to them several times, the archives of Tiananmen Square, the fall of the Berlin Wall do not really open the dialogue with Johnny's life and work.
Have a good time
However, his admirers will have a good time. The archive images, particularly from his childhood, are rich. The photos of this child abandoned by his parents, who spent his young years traveling across Europe, are very moving. The moment when, aged 74, he explains where his stage name, Hallyday, comes from, is very amusing. He recounts his memories of Golf Drouot, where he goes by metro, and meets his dear Eddy. We see him again in his cinema debut, behind Simone Signoret in Les Diaboliques, by Clouzot, in improbable advertisements and whispering Retiens la nuit with Catherine Deneuve, in Les Parisiennes, by Marc Allégret. The archives on stage and in the studio are very numerous. Black is black, The Penitentiary, Diego. Song excerpts scroll. The years 1990-2017 are condensed and do not include the tributes of its last faithful, from composer Maxime Nucci to guitarist Yarol Poupaud. Johnny Hallyday still slips in a little confidence. At the end of his life, he would have loved to work again with Jean-Jacques Goldman. Unfortunately, the latter refused.

Note Lara was not mentioned, in the article at least. Perhaps with her posts she wanted to remind people of their transcendent moment. Whether that was an influence or not, another article, this time in Gala (https://www.gala.fr/l_actu/news_de_stars/video-johnny-hallyday-ce-duo-avec-une-chanteuse-qui-la-marque-meme-lui-etait-impressionne_533994) did feature her:

Johnny Hallyday, this duet with a singer who left his mark: “Even he was impressed”
This Thursday, November 7 in Télématin, a pianist organizing a symphony show in tribute to Johnny Hallyday spoke of this duet shared on stage with a famous singer and which made the rocker very proud.
While the host and journalist from France 2 had fun guessing (just like the audience present) that the title broadcast was Requiem pour un fou, performed by Johnny Hallyday and released in 1976, Yvan Cassar explained that Jade's father and Joy had recorded "a superb duet version with Lara Fabian". With nostalgia, the pianist affirmed: “[During] my debut in 1998 at the Stade de France, there was this symphonic part and that’s where this project was born.” Remembering an “incredible” stage moment, the 56-year-old musician indicated that the rocker and the 53-year-old Belgian-Canadian singer “clash” vocally. "I saw them come off stage. Even he was impressed, saying: 'But it's not possible what just happened to me,'" he recalled.
A singer who commanded Johnny's respect
Yvan Cassar is not the only person who has worked with Johnny Hallyday who has confided about this moment in his career shared with Lara Fabian who amazed him. In 2019, musician Greg Zlap told Le Point, admiring the young woman's talent: "It remained in our memories. She put all her energy into it. Johnny had a lot of respect for that." And over time, the singer has always retained a great deal of gratitude and tenderness for the rocker. When his death was announced, she reacted on social networks, writing: "There are people who pass through our lives and transform our destinies. I can't imagine that today you are already up there among the stars and, at the same time, that's where you come from, for me."

Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week: Lara posted a picture of herself with Fabio Lazzara at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=930693405081620&set=a.259330805551220
and the title “Great Teacher happy birthday Fabio Lazzara Profilo Pieno ❤️” who is indicated as a ‘master teacher in voice’. One might wonder where he fits in for Lara, given that her primary vocal teacher is Pierre-Yves Duchesne, but you might remember that Lara posted this video on her Instagram site at
as well as at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpYqkhj2iKk
emphasizing their joint work together on ‘The Voice’.
On a different note, Lara’s vocal techniques are continuing under scrutiny in youtube ‘reaction’ videos, but they are also being used as a teaching tool. One example of that can be found at

Although it will be discussed more next week, a heads-up that the Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site has a number of Lara Christmas-related pictures and videos up already. As that will be the last News Update before the holiday, we will focus more on that topic then. Maybe we’ll even find out where Lara will be spending it…
