Lara continued her interaction with fans this past week, looking to maintain her connection while there is little professional activity to share. She did this primarily with little snippets of songs sung on her social media feeds. For one she sang a bit of a Billie Eilish song at
www.facebook.com/reel/3161221757505814
with the caption, “Let's warm our hearts a little bit, the best is always yet to come”.
Lara’s doing this struck a chord in the media. An article appeared at (https://www.noovomoi.ca/en-vedette/lara-fabian-nous-rechauffe-le-coeur-reprise-grand-succes.html):

Lara Fabian warms our hearts with the cover of this great success
Lara Fabian warms our hearts today with the cover of a song by Billie Eilish .
The diva performs the touching ballad What Was I Made For? of the American pop star. The song that appears on the soundtrack of the film Barbie is one of the biggest hits of the year.
Lara Fabian's fans loved this version and wrote her many messages of love and admiration in the comments. We completely agree, her voice is splendid and full of emotions. We dream of hearing the full version!

And then there was this (https://iletaitunepub.fr/2023/11/08/293278/actualites-people/lara-fabian-revisite-un-tube-de-billie-eilish-elle-devoile-la-video/):

Lara Fabian revisits a Billie Eilish hit, she unveils the video
Known for her talents as a singer, Lara Fabian decided to step out of her repertoire to perform a very famous piece...
Born in 1970, the star was born in Belgium. But she grew up in Italy, and more precisely in Catania, until the age of 5. Back in Brussels, the little girl quickly became interested in music. She then took lessons at the Royal Conservatory. As a teenager, Lara Fabian performed in cafés and piano bars. In the 1990s, she left Europe for Canada, where she enjoyed real success. Nowadays, the singer has proven herself. Moreover, she even sits as a coach on the jury of The Voice Kids. That said, she always stays tuned to new songs that are hitting the airwaves... We'll explain everything to you!
Lara Fabian revisits a Billie Eilish song
At 53, the artist knows how to stay in the game very well. Also, her musical tastes do not remain stuck in the past. And she happily discovers the new releases from the Top 50. In recent days, she had already opened her horizons, by meeting Slimane on the set of The Voice Kids. After their meeting, intended to record the show, Lara Fabian had already taken out her phone to sing Thousands of I love You, in her own way. Remember that this is a title that the singer wrote for his daughter Esméralda, born in 2022.
But this time, Lara Fabian has decided to tackle a real hit, famous throughout the world. It’s What Was I Made For?, by Billie Eilish. A way for her to thank the young American singer, for this very sweet melody, with moving lyrics. To accompany the video of her performance, the coach of The Voice Kids added a caption:
““And if we warmed our hearts a little… The best is always yet to come.”
The private life of Lara Fabian
In her youth, the singer had a beautiful love affair with the composer Rick Allison. But in 1998, she crossed paths with Patrick Fiori, with whom she had a brief passion, which ended in 2000. Between 2003 and 2006, the beauty appeared on the arm of Jean-Félix Lalanne. After their breakup, Lara Fabian became a couple with Gérard Pullicino. Together, they had a daughter, named Lou, born in 2007. However, they broke up in 2012. Since 2013, the star seems to be in perfect love with her husband, the Italian magician Gabriel di Giorgio.
----------------------------------
Lara has always seemed ‘au courant’ on current music trends, sometimes saying it is because of her daughter. And given that Lara chose to sing it, here are the lyrics to ‘What Was I Made For’:
-------------------------------
I used to float, now I just fall down
I used to know but I'm not sure now
What I was made for
What was I made for?
Takin' a drive, I was an ideal
Looked so alive, turns out I'm not real
Just something you paid for
What was I made for?
'Cause I, I
I don't know how to feel
But I wanna try
I don't know how to feel
But someday, I might
Someday, I might
When did it end? All the enjoyment
I'm sad again, don't tell my boyfriend
It's not what he's made for
What was I made for?
'Cause I, 'cause I
I don't know how to feel
But I wanna try
I don't know how to feel
But someday I might
Someday I might
Think I forgot how to be happy
Something I'm not, but something I can be
Something I wait for
Something I'm made for
Something I'm made for
------------------------------

With the reaction that just a short segment of this song provoked, one wonders what Lara could achieve if she did a cover album of recent hit songs. As suggested in one of these articles (“We dream of hearing the full version”), with Lara’s voice, it could be quite popular.
BTW, it’s not clear that Lara could just ‘sing’ this song on her social media sites on a whim, without getting the legal right to do so. Here’s what Instagram says about it: “No, not every song can be used without permission. However, Instagram offers a music library with licensed tracks that you can use in your Stories, Reels, and some posts. Always make sure the song you're using is available in this library or that you have explicit permission from the copyright holder. (10/13/23)”. The guess here is that Lara obtained permission to do so.
With respect to her own music, Lara then posted the following, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=917198576431103&set=a.259330805551220
writing, “Really want to share some music here with you... what song would you like to hear me sing for you?” As one can imagine, there were a variety of replies; Lara chose one that was actually written in response to her previous (Instagram) post (by ‘flavioeap’), with the suggestion that her Brazilian fans deserved it - “Love By Grace”. The segment she sang of it can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/reel/682986447146839
www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmEaDwBXIMk
It included the caption, “Because more than ever, it’s necessary to share the love…Love By Grace”. [Lara presumably did not have to get 'permission' to sing this, having bought the rights back from Sony].
This may well be the first time Lara sang any portion of that song in years (always a mystery, since it was once one of her most popular); maybe she just wanted to do it, or maybe she remembers that she had to cancel her concert in Brazil some years ago, and felt they really did deserve it. As you may know, the ballad was a smash hit in Brazil and was part of the soundtrack of the Brazilian hit soap opera Laços de Família. [See also more info in the ‘Pictures of the Week section below].
Lara also took the time to issue a caution, on her FB site:
--------------------------
Dear community
More and more fake accounts in my name are appearing. The only official page is this one and is accompanied by the blue certification. Do not accept any other request by private message or invitation to a so-called live on these same networks.
The best is yet to come🎶
------------------------
Even without any attempt to scam, a number of Lara sites (including this one) often are confused with Lara’s official site since they contain Lara’s name in the site title [which they need to do so that people know what the site is about]. Perhaps the overarching caution is, if a site asks something of the reader that involves personal data or money, assume off-hand it is a scam.
Lara continues to include “the best is yet to come” at the end of all her messages. Originally it seemed possible that ‘something big’ was about to be revealed, but now it is clear that it is simply an affirmation that Lara is using to help create a more positive future for herself. Valuable for all of us as well!
As will come as no great surprise, Lara’s songs continue to provide fertile ground for singers in reality TV competitions. Two more examples of that this past week: First, Broken Vow, sung in the Star Academie (https://www.purepeople.com/article/star-academy-2023-deux-professeurs-en-larmes-face-a-julien-bouleversant-sur-la-mort-de-son-pere_a516191/1). The singer, Julien, explained, "It's the song, when my father died, that allowed me to express myself . Basically, it's a love song. It speaks of someone who lost their loved one. And you, you will understand from the chorus why it speaks to me. But I had a lot of trouble letting go. Whether for my brothers and sisters or for me, my father was more or less a god. We didn't say for a single moment that it was going to end even if he was ill. This song was for me the opportunity to move beyond that, or at least to heal certain wounds, to begin a path and since then, it has 'really accompanied me’. One can see his performance at www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4DS9jyII2E.
And also, on the “Voice of Germany”, Adagio was used by Alina Zamalieva (https://www.shn.ch/leben-leute/vermischtes/2023-11-11/fuer-alina-zamalieva-sind-bei-the-voice-of-germany-die). One can hear her beautiful, tremulous performance at the above link and at www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bPxTH88iBc. As one can tell from both of these examples, these songs bring out the best in their singers, a credit to their origin as a vehicle for Lara’s own magnificent voice.
Interesting picture(s)/video(s) of the week: Lara celebrated Maurane’s birthday this past week with an ‘Instagram’ story, as shown in this capture from the Lara Fabian America FB page, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=762325505907177&set=a.427157889423942
with the caption, “Happy Birthday Mau…I miss you." Maurane passed away in 2018.
The Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site has a page devoted to pictures and links of Lara with the song “Love By Grace”, and in Rio, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=861184429348282&set=a.493238502809545
Finally, some posts containing beautiful pictures of Lara: from the Lara Fabian Family FB page,

It does appear as if Lara is intent on maintaining contact with her fans, and in doing so, she also provides fodder for the celebrity media to keep her name in the news. A win for all concerned – may it continue.
