Lara continued her personal interactions with fans this past week, and in the process brought her Facebook page back to life (a possibility that was suggested last week when she updated her profile picture). First, with Facebook and Instagram posts at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=890769905740637&set=a.259330805551220
she included the caption, “Hello💙Bonjour💙Buongiorno💙Bom dia💙Holà💙Merhaba💙Goeiendag💙Salam aleykoum💙God morgon💙Guten Tag💙Gudde moeien💙Dzień dobry💙
And to all my beautiful people in the world… 🌍”
It received over 12,000 likes on Instagram and over 8,000 on FB, somewhat of an indication of how fans are starved for interaction with her.
That was followed by a wonderful reel on both Facebook and Instagram at
www.facebook.com/reel/659180282837739
where, as she explained, “I've shared a lot with you over the last few days, I've also shared a lot of love with artists ... and you what's your favorite duo? ❤️🎼
Included in the short snips of her duets are the usual suspects: Laura Pausini, Michael Bolton, Johnny Hallyday, Josh Groban, Zuchero and Maurane.
Engaging the fans for their opinions was even more successful, with some 19,000 likes on Instagram and over 3,000 on FB. While those fans get a chance to express their opinion, we can look at the number of views these duets – and others – received on youtube. Of course this is not necessarily an indication of the relative choices of Lara’s fans alone, as it depends to a large extent on how popular the other artist is, and the country they come from (youtube is more popular in some places than others). The songs that accounted for these views are listed in parenthesis. Here is the tally, counting all incarnations of the videos for each duet:
Lara with Johnny Hallyday (Requiem pour un fou): 38 million views
Lara with Laura Pausini (Le solitudine): 35 million
Lara with Maurane (Tu es mon autre; Plus de vie): 11 million
Lara with Josh Groban (For Always; Broken Vow): 3 million
Lara with Michael Bolton (The Prayer): 360,000
Lara with Zucchero (Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime): 340,000
Here are some others:
Lara with Phil Collins (True Colors): 830,000
Lara with Dimash Kudaibergen (Ti amo cosi; The Love of Tired Swans): 20.5 million
Lara with Patrick Fiori: (L'Hymne à l'Amour; La difference): 7.3 million
Lara with Serge Lama (Je t’aime; Je suis malade): 4 million
Lara with Mario Frangoulis (All Alone Am I; So In Love): 3 million
Lara with Gigi d’Alessio (Un Cuore Malato; La Donna Che Vorrei): 28 million
It’s easy to forget how successful Lara’s interactions with Gigi d’Alessio have been, driven by his fans probably even more than Lara’s, and a similar driving force is likely true for some of the others with high numbers of views. So this list will probably not mirror what her real fans would pick, except it’s a good bet that her duet with Johnny Hallyday will rank at or near the top – from her previous comments, it does with Lara.
You may have heard that Andrea Bocelli passed away several days ago. As to whether Lara ever sang with him, it is listed on the Internet, and even on youtube, that they sang a duet of “Vivo Per Lei” (e.g., www.youtube.com/watch?v=FezL1aP5Ze4&ab_channel=SergiuBalacci, and others). However, it is not Lara – it is Helene Sagara, as one can tell by comparing that video with the one at www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsWnbrL2cZc&ab_channel=ismodev). One supposes that all female French singers sound pretty much the same to those not involved with that genre .
Lara wrote she “shared a lot with you over the last few days” – and she certainly had! Continuing those fan interactions: Lara updated her cover photo, and actually posted it as a separate entry. But she then updated it again, shown at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=889985455819082&set=a.259330815551219
(the first update can be found behind this new one by clicking the arrow on the right).
Both pictures were taken from her most recent tour. In a separate post, she provided a picture of herself with tomatoes and (what looks like) basil’ at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=892469735570654&set=a.259330805551220
and the caption, “A Sunday somewhere on Earth, and you?” (Included were the colors of the Italian flag, so there's no doubt where she was!). Fans provided a variety of answers as to their locations (Belgium, France, Canada, U.S., Romania, etc.) but my favorite reads, in part (from Orbán Hartl): “It doesn't matter how far away you are, because you're with us, engraved in our hearts forever.”
And then there was this picture:
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=891393289011632&set=a.259330805551220
with the caption, “Have a good WE (week-end), let’s share the music again and again.”
She also posted on Facebook the Instagram reel from last week with her singing “Sarà perché ti amo“ (https://www.facebook.com/reel/977551223357576); the new profile picture (https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=889343422549952&set=a.259330822217885); the picture of herself in Paris (https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=889239065893721&set=a.259330805551220); the welcoming ‘Monday vibes’ Instagram reel (https://www.facebook.com/reel/642223131349648); and the Bucharest rehearsal reel (https://www.facebook.com/reel/639962338264956).
Finally, this morning Lara posted yet once more on her FB and (in this case) Instagram pages, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/1060071978246815
with the comment, "FOR LOVE I want to share this song with you today and what song would you share today?❤️" On the video she is singing a portion of 'Par amour'. Given time, that will also undoubtedly get thousands of hits and song suggestions.
With these ~14 new Facebook posts, she approximately doubled the amount of her entries for the year 2023. As to why this happened, it’s anybody’s guess: either she just became aware that the page had been left untended, or she decided to do something about it for some unknown reason. If the reason was that she intends to provide new material for commercial consumption, so much the better!
In other news, Lara was one of the women featured in an article in Gala at (https://www.gala.fr/l_actu/news_de_stars/patrick-fiori-lara-fabian-julie-zenatti-helene-segara-qui-sont-les-femmes-qui-ont-marque-sa-vie_529627). As one can tell from this link, the article is about Patrick Fiori celebrating his 54th birthday, and Lara was thus included. Here’s what is said about them:
---------------------
From the start of his career, Patrick Fiori fell under the spell of another singer who was also beginning to experience success, Lara Fabian. Very in love with each other, the couple had many projects together but which hit a wall, that of over-media coverage. The two artists, who were not prepared for this difficulty, were unable to overcome it and separated after two years of relationship.
----------------------
[This marks two times his name has come up in this same newsletter, something that has not happened in a loooooong time ].
Then there is this item about Lara and Tiktok (https://www.dhnet.be/lifestyle/people/2023/09/21/lara-fabian-fait-le-buzz-sur-tiktok-O63TPMLCWJDXDOIPYQ7JREXZRM/):
-----------------------------
Lara Fabian is creating buzz on TikTok
Newly arrived on the social network TikTok, the singer reached more than a million views - in just two days - with an unexpected title.
“Let’s share the love… The best is yet to come ❤️”, writes Lara Fabian in the caption of her video posted on TikTok two days ago. A video which has now reached 1.2 million views while the artist timidly reached 300,000 views previously (she landed on the social network at the time of confinement). With, as a hashtag, the words “#foryou #pourtoi”. The title that the 53-year-old Belgian-Italian-Quebec singer hums? The famous “Sara perche ti amo” by the Italian duo Ricchi & Poveri, a beautiful declaration of love from our compatriot. Which makes the Web react in abundance.
If some wonder if it is really the interpreter of “Je t’aime” (“doesn’t she sound like Lara Fabian?”; “The same voice as Lara”; “The voice of Shakira, the head of Lara Fabian”), others salute her beauty (“Lara Fabian is stuck in the 90s as dapper as ever, it’s incredible, her face has not changed”) and the rest are captivated by her performance and her “pure voice”. “How does this song put me in such a good mood! So sung by you Lara, it’s happiness ×1000!!; “Wonderful Lara with such a pretty voice, that’s a singer!” Or even “An icon for me, a diva”, “Magnificent cover”; “When is the residency in Las Vegas?” [They show the youtube video of the Ricchi and Poveri singing the song, and Lara’s recent post].
-------------------------
I can't verify that this video has that many views (it has over 81,000 likes) (https://www.tiktok.com/@larafabianofficial/video/7280515549015117061
On a more serious note, there was another article in Gala in which Lara was featured, at (https://www.gala.fr/l_actu/news_de_stars/photos-lara-fabian-didier-barbelivien-anne-roumanoff-ces-personnalites-touchees-de-pres-ou-de-loin-par-alzheimer_529569). Here’s the translation, focusing on the part that includes Lara:
------------------------
PHOTOS – Lara Fabian, Didier Barbelivien, Anne Roumanoff… These personalities affected directly or indirectly by Alzheimer’s
This Thursday, September 21, marks World Alzheimer’s Day. An illness that directly affects nearly a million French people. And faced with this neurodegenerative disease which affects memory, stars are not spared... Whether they suffer from it medically, or indirectly suffer the consequences, here is the list of celebrities who suffer from it…
Patients are not the only people to suffer from Alzheimer's. When one person is affected, everyone around them suffers. Lara Fabian will not say the opposite ... Her mother Maria Luisa Serio had had it for several years before her death in 2019. "I talk with her about everything, nothing, her childhood, she remembers that, but the bouquet of roses that I have just brought, the perfume will remain, but the image gone", sings the artist on this subject in her title L'oubli in 2016.
----------------------------
And an article about why Brussels is a ‘musical hotspot’ had this to say about Lata (https://www.politico.eu/article/sounds-of-brussels-why-the-city-is-a-musical-hotspot/):
--------------------------
A list of Brussels names wouldn’t be complete without one of the world’s objectively impressive voices and affecting performers — as well as one of Belgium’s highest-ever selling artists to boot. Born in Etterbeek and studying at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Fabian had her first break with European audiences when she represented Luxembourg in Eurovision in 1988 before going platinum with her debut album.

Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
Most of the fan sites were busy reposting Lara’s generous contributions for fans. Inspired by Lara’s recent posts, the Lara Fabian America FB site added to their ‘Lady in red’ photo montage, at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=733332078806520&set=pcb.733332682139793

www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=823983503068375&set=pcb.823984399734952
‘Music Evolution’ posted a remastered audio of Lara singing “Running” at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE0DqYYNUt4&ab_channel=MUSICEVOLUTION
which Lara did with Igor Krutoi. A video of Lara performing it at the 2014 New Wave festival is available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9FZnnzKI5c&ab_channel=MUSICEVOLUTION
There were plenty of rumors, some even mentioned by Lara, of a second album with Krutoi, but the time and circumstances for that seems to have passed.
This weekend Lara will be attending the Global Gift Gala in Paris. There’s a Twitter (X) post concerning it that reads in part, “This year @mariarbravo and @evalongoria will receive the award-winning @zazoumarbella and @melissatheuriau and the performances of the incredible @lfabianofficial and @girackendji that will take your breath away!”
Looks like it will be more material for Lara to put on her newly re-invigorated Facebook page (and hopefully videos will be made available). After that there’s nothing obvious on her schedule – her new TF1 show has already been recorded. Hopefully, though, her fan interaction will continue.
