Lara’s appearance at the ‘birthday’ celebration for Gheorghe Zamfir in Bucharest took place last week, at which she sang 5 songs. Prior to the actual concert there were a few introductory videos. First Lara provided a video promo for those who were in or who could make it to Bucharest, inviting them to the concert, available at (from the Lara Fabian America FB site):
www.facebook.com/bucharest.symphony.orchestra/videos/1391945984717798
Then there was Lara arriving in Bucharest, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOAOJeeQCGQ
A general rehearsal of Giora Linenberg at the piano with the Bucharest Symphonic Orchestra,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6vLzxAoT54
a specific rehearsal of Lara singing a portion of Caruso, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=owvMJ_qWKdM
a portion of the rehearsal for Adagio and Je suis malade at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h48heYNmcg
and from Lara’s own Instagram site, rehearsing Je t’aime,
Them there were numerous videos of Lara’s performance; provided are the links to the ‘best, complete’ versions of each of the songs:
Adagio (with Laura Bretan):

Some comments:
**The videos were high quality – thanks to those who took the trouble to take them!
**As one can tell, Lara was in exceptional voice on her songs.
**It was wonderful to hear Lara with an orchestra; in the past when she’s had that opportunity, she’s also performed amazingly well, which may have contributed to her vocal prowess here.
**Laura Bretan has a wonderful voice, not seen to its full extent on Adagio as Lara covered the passionate portion near the end
**Giora Linenberg had to play the piano with one hand when he needed to act as conductor for the orchestra on Lara’s songs; the other hand was used in-between
**Unfortunately, Lara seemed intimidated when performing with Jose Carreras, and it was even hard to hear her. We’ve seen this before in her duets with male operatic voices, where she seems to show too much deference. (It was also her first appearance on stage, and she might have needed a bit of time to warm up).
** The concert, and Lara’s exceptional part in it was covered on the news, e.g.,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBosAoRM3eM
**Her performance on her songs could provide new fodder for reaction videos

Laura Bretan seemed to fare better with Jose Carreras, perhaps because her operatic soprano is a more natural fit (or she’s used to singing with male singers like him). One has to say, the audience got their money’s worth, and a good deal of the credit for that goes to Lara.
Moving on, she is currently back in Paris, as indicated by her own photo on her Instagram site, at
with the caption, “Paris, your light is so inspiring.”
and from several of her Instagram ‘reels’ posted by the Lara Fabian Family site, a ‘good day (Monday) wish’ shown at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nUpT2zcEw0
and also walking through the streets of the city,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=87eGAQeYnHM
As we know, many people have not heard of Lara, including those interested in music, so it’s always entertaining when people hear her for the first time (a primary lure of reaction videos). One such example of that can be found at
www.lipstickalley.com/threads/if-any-of-you-have-never-heard-of-lara-fabian-you-should-have.5386126/
There are also interesting comments about Lara and others on that page.
And one last item – Lara finally used her FB page (!) – she updated her profile picture,
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=889343422549952&set=a.259330822217885
Could that be a forerunner to her actually posting on it?
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
A number of posts from Lara make this list; for one she used her Instagram story account to show herself swirling around in a bright red dress, available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPyvlIrl3iw
Then she utilized her permanent Instagram site to post a reel of her singing in Italian
and included the caption “Let's share the love...
The best is yet to come ❤️”
It’s also available on youtube, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbCGt1_Oa14
As the Lara Fabian Family site noted on the youtube page, the song is called “Sarà perché ti amo” (by Ricchi e Poveri).
Here is the English translation of the lyrics Lara sang:
------------------------------------
What a mess
Maybe it's because I love you
It's an emotion
Which grows little by little
Hold me tight and stay closer to me
If I'm fine with it
Maybe it's because I love you
And fly we go
Higher and higher you go
And fly fly with me
The world is crazy because
And if love isn't there
Just one song is enough
To make things confusing
Outside and inside you
-----------------------
People wondered whether this post meant she was preparing an album in Italian, or an Italian concert; of course nothing is certain, but more likely she was just in a mood to sing it.
Lara also posted a ‘story’ on Instagram of her drinking (probably) coffee and singing “Good morning, good morning to you”, as posted by the Lara Fabian Family FB site, at
www.facebook.com/reel/634913875159690
All three of these posts show Lara in quite good spirits! (maybe that’s why they got around to updating the FB picture) . We also shouldn't ignore that it also shows she's in the mood to interact with her fans.
Otherwise, many photos of this concert were made available at
www.infomusic.ro/fotografii/poze-concert-aniversar-gheorghe-zamfir-pe-15-septembrie-2023/?fbclid=IwAR1eneQqUkZMqBRCptJ1YuAYy50NPQANLAFgu_OUAQwGQb3eipTXBDZrqKQ

www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=6477338772389049&set=a.150147238441599
A picture of Lara with Catalin Opritoiu, a flautist (and soloist) in the orchestra in Bucharest (thanks to the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site for the link) is available at:
Lara’s tee shirt reads, “I don’t give a damn”.
And Catalin Opritoiu has a few of his own pictures of the concert, at
www.instagram.com/opritoiucatalin/
Lara’s next big event will be at the end of the month, the next rendition of the ‘Global Gift Gala’ with Eva Longoria. If past such appearances by Lara is any guide, it will not be a concert of similar proportions to this past one, which after all was honoring a musician with, understandably, musical guests and an orchestra. It’s good to get continued verification that Lara’s vocal abilities are still at such a high level, though it’s not clear how she will be using them going forward in this year, much less 2024. Given that her latest tour is called ‘The Best of Lara Fabian World Tour’, one may expect it will eventually live up to that name.
