FOLLOW-UP OF THE DOCUMENTARY “FLORENT PAGNY: LE PHENIX”
A few months after the documentary event "Florent Pagny, Un Homme Libre", TF1 is pleased to share the sequel with “Florent Pagny: Le Phénix " at 11:40 p.m., a total immersion with the artist: in the studio, on stage, with family, on tour...
From the recording of his new album "2 BIS" , in which Florent Pagny covers his own successes and some French song standards, in duet with 20 talented artists ( Lara Fabian, Slimane, Carla Bruni, Vianney, Pascal Obispo, Anne Sila, Marc Lavoine, Zazie, Soprano, Anggun, Diego Torres, Calogero, Patrick Bruel, Jenifer, Patrick Fiori, Christophe Maé, Amel Bent, Matt Pokora, Raoul Paz and Kendji Girac) at the recording of the concert "With Florent Pagny , Tout le Monde ELA ”, shot before the summer at the Seine Musicale with this same band of singer and musician friends, this new documentary is the result of two months of intense filming.
In this documentary, Michel Jankielewicz , his 35-year-old friend, followed him daily on the roads of the 2023 Summer Festivals: from Nîmes to Louhans for the Nuits Bressanes, via Aluna in Ardèche, Sion under the Stars in Switzerland or at the Francofolies de Spa in Belgium…
See you on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 9:10 p.m. for the concert event “With Florent Pagny everyone ELA”, followed by the documentary “Florent Pagny: The phoenix” at 11:40 p.m. on TF1 and MYTF1 .
----------------------
As one can see, TF1 is going all out for Florent Pagny; it’s not an exaggeration to say they’re probably very happy that he is still alive, or these shows would have a very different air. If one wonders what “ELA” stands for in the title, that’s explained in the following article (https://ela-asso.com/en/actualites/with-florent-tout-le-monde-ela/) [admittedly, this is leading us somewhat off-topic]:
--------------------
With Florent Pagny, “Tout le monde ELA”
On June 20, an exceptional concert by Florent Pagny, honorary member of the association, was held at La Seine Musicale to raise funds for the fight against leukodystrophies.
An exceptional concert
Florent Pagny has been supporting the ELA association for almost 25 years. He knows that most children suffering from leukodystrophy still have no treatment. That’s why he decided to get his friends together for a big evening in aid of ELA, to be broadcast later on TF1.
Our godfather performed duets with : Anggun, Amel Bent, Patrick Bruel, Carla Bruni, Calogero, Lara Fabian, Patrick Fiori, Jennifer, Marc Lavoine, Christophe Maé, Kendji Girac, M’Pokora, Pascal Obispo, Raoul Paź, Anne Silla, Slimane, Soprano, Diego Torres, Vianney and Zazie.
Through these duets, Florent Pagny retraced more than 30 years of career, 20 multi-award-winning albums, and above all an ever-strong commitment to ELA. A wonderful moment of sharing and solidarity for all those present that evening.
A heartfelt commitment to ELA
The singer met the association in 1999, when he received in the mail a photo of Jérémie and a letter from his mother Francine, explaining the terrible disease he was suffering from: leukodystrophy. Touched by this heartfelt appeal, he decided to get involved alongside the ELA families. A first step was taken between the singer and the association with the release of the album “Récréation”, part of the royalties from which were donated to ELA. Years later, the singer remains faithful to the families’ fight.
He opened the concert with a reminder of his commitment to ELA, and the importance of supporting the association to carry out its missions.
And for that, ELA needs the generosity of everyone.

And as one last really off-topic discussion of this event, there is this (https://www.lalibre.be/culture/musique/2023/08/21/le-retour-sur-scene-de-florent-pagny-a-failli-ne-pas-avoir-lieu-le-30-juin-dernier-pourquoi-il-sest-retrouve-aux-urgences-la-veille-de-son-concert-WOMLBK4UDBB3LOTKJ7TIZ6LNVE/):

Florent Pagny's return to the stage almost did not take place on June 30: why he ended up in the emergency room the day before his concert
In an unpublished documentary to see on TF1 on Friday September 1, we learn that the singer was admitted to the emergency room the day before…
On June 30, many eyes were on Nismes where Florent Pagny was expected. The singer returned to the stage after being sidelined for a year and a half due to lung cancer. Was he going to hold on? Was he still going to be able to sing as well as before? In no time, the interpreter of “Savoir aimer” swept away all doubts, all questions. He was definitely back and still with that voice that made him so successful. The people present at his concert during the Francofolies de Spa three weeks later can attest to this.
However, this return of Florent Pagny came close to pschiiiiiit. We learn it in a new documentary dedicated to the singer to discover on September 1 on TF1. Directed by Michel Jankielewicz, who was able to follow Pagny's return to the stage from the inside and the recording of his new duet album to be released the same day, he reveals that the day before June 30 and his concert in Nismes, Florent Pagny was the victim of a very heavy fall which led him to the emergency room. Diagnosis: several broken ribs and stitches in the chin.
Where many would have forfeited, the singer did not fail the organizers of his concert and his audience. It is therefore in theory very diminished that he went on stage. Because broken ribs are very painful. And singing with broken ribs even more and therefore very difficult. However, Florent Pagny did it, without anyone suspecting anything. “Fortunately, he has his own breathing and singing technique which allowed him to perform on shows. He's tough on pain too,” explains Michel Jankielewicz.
Florent Pagny's new album is called 2bis. It will be released on September 1. On the program: duets, in particular with Zazie, Christophe Maé, Carla Bruni, Calogero, Patrick Bruel, Jenifer, Anggun, Pascal Obispo, Lara Fabian, Amel Bent, Slimane or Kendji Girac.
The documentary to be seen on TF1 the same day is entitled: Florent Pagny: a free man. It will be broadcast after a bonus entirely devoted to the singer, which will see him perform his most famous titles with his friends.

In other news, the Lara Fabian Family FB site indicated that Lara was/will be a guest of Josee Lavigueur (https://www.facebook.com/JoseeLavigueurofficiel/) a Canadian fitness professional with a fitness program called My Fit Zone (https://joseelavigueur.com/choisis-ta-sante-pour-la-rentree/?fbclid=IwAR322I7pSonAZdjDbYIf0FOFAz8NSNg3EksYDDKts-Qs0NG9I26wpKz-4MA). The woman did in fact have a live show celebrating their 5 year anniversary (https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?extid=NS-UNK-UNK-UNK-IOS_GK0T-GK1C&mibextid=2Rb1fB&ref=watch_permalink&v=1601483277045455), but, as far as I could tell, Lara was not on it. If indeed she shows up at any point in the next week, it will be covered subsequently.
Interesting picture(s)/video(s) of the week:
From Thierry Martino via the Lara Fabian America FB and the Lara Fabian the Netherlands FB sites, a nice picture of Thierry and Lara with Eva Longoria from an earlier Global Gift Gala(2019), as an advertisement for Lara’s next encounter with the Global Gift Gala at the end of September,
As can be noticed, Lara’s official site liked this picture as well.

A nice collection of what is called ‘Nostalgic French Songs’ is available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayU9_q3ZlW4
Lara’s contribution, of course, is Je t’aime. This is one of several different collections this channel has produced, with different singers.
The Lara Fabian Tribute channel provided a youtube ‘tribute’ to Lara’s duet with Russel Watson, ‘The Alchemist’ at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgi28kJNpA8
which joins an extremely long list of wonderful songs Lara has done or participated in that never show up again in her own productions (often with other superb singers, e.g., Josh Groban, Mario Frangoulis, MIchale Bolton, etc.). Apparently the only ‘covers’ she feels comfortable repeating are those she has ‘made her own’ (Caruso, Je suis malade, etc.).
Lara’s events this coming month occur about two weeks apart, the (prerecorded) TF1 show honoring Florent Pagny at the beginning, the concert in Bucharest honoring Gheorghe Zamfir in the middle, and the Global Gift Gala at the end. Hopefully it will lead to more public events in the months to come, though there is no specific data for any such event yet available. A report on ‘what’s new’ on French TV channels this coming season listed the ‘Dream Team’ event (https://www.telepro.be/tv/rentree-tele-quoi-de-neuf-sur-les-chaines-francaises.html) without providing any specific date: "Among the novelties: "Dream Team", in which six French artists and their teams of young singers, between 8 and 14 years old, will compete, who will in a way constitute the next generation of mentors: Matt Pokora, Jenifer, Camille Lellouche, Lara Fabian, Claudio Capéo and Black M. The best team will win..." Nevertheless, it will be nice to see her in these professional settings once again.
