An eventful end of the week for Lara, as the summer tour comes to a close.
Lara finished her last two concerts of the summer festival in Europe, which were essentially characterized by being outdoors. This made them susceptible to the vagaries of weather, and that continued this past weekend. In Hannut, Belgium, Lara appeared very happy to be back in her home country, and she gave another powerful performance - now so routinely expected that it is hardly even mentioned. The venue for the show had already been changed due to flooding associated with heavy rains earlier in the week. At this performance, there was apparently some mud surrounding the stage. When it came time for Lara's 'little girl act', where stuffed animals are routinely thrown onto the stage for Lara to interact with, Larasev (Séverine) on the official website described what happened (in translation): "Everyone cried to me, Séverine, your stuffed animal! I took it out quickly to give it to Nadège and throw it. But it falls in the mud! Someone picked it up and Lara took it…Apparently, Lara hadn't seen and took it in her arms and put it on her pants!" When Lara noticed her white pants suit had gotten soiled, she joked that the stuffed animal (a chicken) had "made caca" on her (good recovery!), and then went and changed before singing Bambina. As for the concert itself, special mention was given to the performance of "Angel" towards the end.
The last concert on Saturday night was back in France, at the Foire de Châlons in Champagne. Again the weather was rainy, but fortunately it let up for most the concert. Lara actually had a cold (another consequence of outdoor performances in bad weather). Here is a translation of the comments by 'petitemarie' on the official site:…"it was my first concert of Lara's (I am not a fan therefore…) and truly I was really impressed and agreeably surprised. Hats off to the artist! Admittedly the weather was not super but Lara was formidable! adorable, funny, attentive and then what a voice! Truly I appreciate her more after having seen her on stage!! bravo truly! and then what ambiance! It was truly warm (hearty), despite the bad weather! " Perhaps this is as good a summary as any for Lara's whole summer festival... The concert also got a very good review in the press, indicating that Lara was in top form, and emphasizing the love between Lara and her audience.
It was noted on the forum of the official site that Lara's "live" (in concert) music will be featured on radio station MFM soon, perhaps next week.
Lara will be present at the next broadcast of "enfants de la télé", channel TF1. On this program, guests are often on stage for an hour. It should be shown next month. Laetitia, on Larafabianweb.com thinks it may well be a rerun of a show done some time ago. Meanwhile, it's looking increasingly unlikely that Lara's performances on "Tous En Scene" (in which she sings 'America' and 'L'homme qui n'avait pas de maison') will ever see the light of day. Daniela Lumbroso, who presented the program, is no longer associated with France 2.
The 'instant mag' devoted to Lara, discussed in the last update, appears to be a very high quality production with lots of photos; samples were shown on the web of the current version, which is devoted to Madonna. That edition lists 'Aug, Sept, Oct' as its time period, implying Lara's edition won't be available for a few months.
I'm not sure that this qualifies as 'update news', but Cécile on Hezia's site has just provided some statistics on the use of the name "Lara" in France for new-borns. There has been a tremendous growth since 1990, with the peak years being 1998 (the peak of Lara's popularity) during which 380 children were given this name; and then again 2002/2003 with the release of 'Nue' and 'ETI' (that year it was the 211th most popular name in the country). Its use has been widespread in Russia, and only recently became more popular in France. None of this is any surprise of course. The name itself stands for charisma, dynamism, curiosity, courage and independence - this fits so well, one wonders whether the name generates the personality! (lol)
Lara again has a week off publicly, before her next two concerts on islands in the Indian Ocean. When in Montreal last June she indicated that for the next year she would be doing a world tour (as foreseen by the song "Le tour du monde"!) ; perhaps this is what she meant, taking time to go to various far-flung places, rather than a continual round-the-world trip.
