As has been the case for the last month, Lara’s public week consisted primarily of appearances on TV in Quebec. Newly airing was the program “Deux filles le matin”, the ‘Noel Gospel’ show; the complete video can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntZrGCGEdxA
There were numerous songs and discussions, in a show dedicated to the importance of gospel music for the spiritual part of the holiday season as well as for entertainment. As Lara said, it is not her predisposition to sing it, but in trying the ‘impossible’ for her, she sees something divine in it. Lara told her Christmas story about when, as an 8 year old, she received a desired chocolate velvet dress that she had been told not to expect, and the joy it brought her.
Although the show had substantial conversation about the origin of gospel music, what Christmas meant with ones’ mothers, or with one’s children, etc., there were musical highlights. It started with a brief ‘Joy to the World’, then eventually featured snatches of greater or lesser length of ‘I’m on my Way’, a medley including “Glory Glory Hallelujah”, "He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands", "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria" (the J. S. Bach – Charles Gounod version), "O Happy Day", "Angels We Have Heard on High", and "Minuit Chretien".
A highlight was Lara’s performance of ‘Amazing Grace’, this segment by itself is available at:

A brief article about that can be found at (http://www.envedette.ca/stars/musique/lara-fabian-chante-amazing-grace-et-nous-donne-des-frissons-1.3500522), and is translated below:

LARA FABIAN SINGING AMAZING GRACE AND GIVING US CHILLS
Lara Fabian was on the show ‘Deux filles le matin’ this week.
The new coach of La Voix performed an excellent version of the song Amazing Grace, accompanied on the piano by Gregory Charles.
Thanks to her powerful voice and incredible charisma, the star charmed the audience. This reprise will without a doubt give you shivers!
-------------------------------------------
A separate segment, of Lara contributing to ‘O Happy Day’ can be seen at:

and ‘Minuit Chretien’ at

As noted on the show, Quebec is not exactly a bastion of the sort of people who are normally involved with gospel music; and on the show, only the pianist really qualified. So, as acknowledged, the whole thing was a bit odd. But musically they brought talent to the adventure.
The second part of Lara’s interview on the program ‘Salut Bonjour’ appeared (which includes Lara’s performances of ‘Growing Wings’ and ‘Petit Papa Noel’, both of which were linked to in last week’s Update) ; for completeness sake, we repeat the link for the first part as well:

In other Quebec-related news, TVA is continuing to give Lara and her work maximum exposure. They used the song ‘Chameleon’ for the background music in their promo of the upcoming show ‘World of Dance’, in a video that can be seen at:

The show will air in January.
Several other events made headlines for Lara. One was an honor she received from Belgium, in which she was awarded the decoration of "Commander of Walloon Merit”. Lara thanked them for this in a short video on her FB site, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/1842548649119957/
According to the ‘French Wikipedia’ (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mérite_wallon):
------------------------------------------------
The Walloon Merit is an honorary distinction of the Walloon Region [the French region of Belgium] instituted by the decree of March 31 , 2011 .
It is awarded each year in Namur, in the Walloon Region, by the Walloon government , and devotes the recognition of the Walloon authorities to "any natural or legal person whose talent or merit has done or does honor to Wallonia. to an exceptional extent and thus contributes significantly to its influence. Merit must have a direct or indirect link with the competences of the Walloon Region" In exceptional circumstances motivated, related to particular cases, the government may grant the official distinction of Walloon merit at any time during the year.
-------------------------------------------------
Undoubtedly Lara deserves this, having helped bring the French section of Belgium to further prominence throughout the world by her musical and promotional activities. On her Instagram site, she posted the certificate of merit,
In another ‘mark of distinction’, of a quite different nature, Lara posted an Instagram picture of herself dressed in a bra or the top part of a nightgown, with the caption, “…a moment of relaxation…”. It’s available at:
If this had been, say, Madonna, it would have been worth 'barely' a word of notice, but, as one site said, Lara does not generally flaunt her sexuality in her act, so it seemed out-of-character to the press (which covered it extensively – more ‘cover’ one might say than Lara had on ). Of course, Lara’s picture on the cover of the Camouflage album was not exactly modest, and Lara did pose semi-nude in Gala magazine in 2013 (the “making of” that photo shoot can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Li3Wa_T0Q); at the time, Lara explained that after many years she was finally coming to terms with accepting her body, and this was a way of expressing that achievement. As to why she chose this point in time to post this picture: maybe the same sentiment was in play here as well…or maybe she was just relaxing, and wanted to show fans a more intimate side of herself. One can never really know why anyone does anything, and that’s particularly true in the case of Lara, who is known to be impulsive. Whatever the reason, as the press pointed out, the photo has gotten more than 10,000 likes, so at least a goodly number of fans appreciated it! [By comparison, the ‘certificate of merit’ linked to above, received 4000 likes ].
[Related, though off-topic, note: In the 1932 movie “Night After Night”, in response to an exclamation “Goodness! What lovely diamonds!”, Mae West’s character said, “Goodness had nothing to do with it, dearie”. She later used the quote as the title of her 1953 autobiography. So perhaps Lara is testing out the ‘tried-and-true‘ American promotion - which is scheduled to begin in January]. [Note to Lara’s people – this is a joke!]
Interesting photo(s) of the week: Lara offered up a straightforward picture of herself on Instagram as well, while wishing people a happy weekend. It can be found at:
(and to be fair, got almost as many likes as her 'more revealing’ one).
And, in a similar red outfit (red definitely appears to be her color on these shows), from the Lara Fabian Web site, associated with Lara’s coming appearance on ‘Y a du monde amesse’, at:
www.facebook.com/yadumondeamesse/photos/a.1905011269715138.1073741828.1896975353852063/2064675123748751/?type=3&theater
The accompanying caption read, “A musical performance by Lara Fabian with our new year's eve choir? That's right!!!”
And, continuing the red dress theme, a beautiful picture from the Lara Fabian – PHQ site,
www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/a.353954938084519.1073741828.353946178085395/1290273174452686/?type=3&theater
In whatever way, and wherever, Lara and her family will be preparing for the coming Christmas holidays. As this is the last News Update before Christmas, let me wish Lara, and all of you who celebrate it, a wonderful holiday, and for everyone, ‘peace on Earth, good will to men’.
