Lara told us at the beginning of last week what she had coming up professionally, and those activities did come to pass: a photo shoot for the new album, and a master class at AICOM. Starting with the photo shoot, Lara posted a picture taken that day on her FB and Instagram sites, available at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1630353503672807/?type=3&theater
with the caption, “Now ... Make-up
Shooting photo .... Camouflage ... coming soon .... So eager to find you again ... Love ❤"
as well as several more on her Instagram site, at:
with the caption, “Flashback ... two days ago ... Camouflage Photoshoot ... Tea time”
and then at:
with the caption, “Shooting finished…I hope the photos are going to please you…we have worked well. Now go back home…thanks to my beautiful team…and immense thanks to you for being there…I love you Love…"
There was another Instagram photo/short video, with Lara’s hair/ (wig) in pretty much the same shape although it’s not clear that it was directly related to the photo shoot. It can be found at:
with the caption,
“Just a kiss ... from my heart to your heart ...
Good week-end to you ..... Love ...”
Involved in the photo shoot was Thierry Martino, and there were several photos done with him, first at:
with his caption, “There are some images which speak more than words. Thank you Lara for your friendship and your kindness. I'm proud of you. And so happy to bring a bit of me on this new project #love #friends #friendship #camouflage #larafabian #newalbum #singers #PR"
And as provided on the ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ site,
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianIsHerePage/photos/a.398533517416.164839.382393522416/10155503128142417/?type=3&theater
where Lara thanked him.
Finally, there was a short video of them, from the site indicated in the link, at
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianBienPlusQuunePassionCorseReunion/videos/676081822585997/
As is obvious, all these pictures were taken at the time of the photo shoot, but are not really from it. Regardless, they are a lot more representative of Lara than the photo shoot from her first English album (the one where Lara said her own mother didn’t recognize her), an example of which can be found at:
cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG_400/MI0001/711/MI0001711123.jpg?partner=allrovi.com
So, at least in this respect, the new album is off to a good start!
Lara did give her master class at AICOM, the school for musical comedy training for which she is the ‘Sponsor/Godmother’. For that there are a number of pictures available; first Lara’s Instagram post, at:
with the caption, “Remembrance of a beautiful day surrounded by promising artists of @ aicomparis ... Happy to have been present at this master class and to have shared with humility my experience of the stage and singing .... Bravo to All these talents .... Love”
And then there are some 24 pictures, most including Lara, directly from AICOM itself, at:
www.facebook.com/AICOM.Paris/photos/a.1509442382449793.1073741848.148668485193863/1509442465783118/?type=3&theater
Hopefully Lara looks as good in the photo shoot for the album as she does in these pictures!
On their FB site, AICOM wrote,
-----------------------------------------------------
“Last Monday, it is our talented godmother Lara Fabian who came to animate a master class alongside our director and founder Pierre Yves Duchesne.
Our Aicomiens have had the honor to sing individually in front of this artist who is now one of the greatest French music singers.
In all kindness, these are some of the precious pieces of advice that Lara Fabian gave to young artists: from her journey, she taught them and from her experience, she explained to them the lessons of it.
Thanks again to her for coming to close a year of hard work for our Aicomiens, who can now enjoy two months of well deserved holidays!”
-----------------------------------------------------
There were various testimonials from the students themselves; for example, as written on the AICOM site by ‘Maissane Bakir’, “A moment outside of time, which revives the form, the smile, the desire to work and of course, to sing, to sing…thanks for this beautiful meeting with such an artist.” From ‘Fati Fly’: “Thank you to Lara Fabian at Aicom and for this beautiful master class day. Only happiness! Open hearted exchanges, Lara knows how to talk to Souls and it feels good.” And as quoted by the Lara Fabian Web site from ‘Gregory Arrieta': “Return to a beautiful moment of sharing: last week I had the chance to be among the ten happy chosen who were able to perform solo in front of the magnificent Lara Fabian during an exceptional master class in the Paris Story in the context of Aicom. I was thus able to receive her precious advice that still resonates... thank you to our everyday coach Pierre Yves Duchesne and to the staff of Aicom for this beautiful gift.”
Certainly seems like time well spent for all concerned, Lara doing what she loves, and the students loving what she does!
In other news, Lara’s duet released last week with ‘Les Friction’ of the song ‘You Always Knew’, from their album ‘Dark Matter’ got a little bit more publicity. Lara’s Team put a link to an article about it, at
www.aficia.info/actualite-musique/you-always-knew-lara-fabian-tease-retour-etonne-groupe-de-rock-americain-friction/114480
Here’s the translation:
-------------------------------------------------
"You Always Knew": Lara Fabian teases her return and amazes with the American rock band Les Friction
Lara Fabian is back with Les Friction, a US band with whom she recorded the duet "You Always Knew". It can be heard on aficia! [this site]
We do not know yet when, but Lara Fabian will be back on the shelves this year with a new original album, the first since ‘Ma vie dans la tienne” (2015). For this project, the singer of "J’y crois encore" opts for the language of Shakespeare. The last time she had published a fully written English disc was in 2004 (A Wonderful Life). Since then, there has been Every Woman In Me, in 2009, but this one was made up of covers. The artist had equally sung in that language the following year on 'Mademoiselle Zhivago', but this ambitious project was mainly destined for Russia.
A duet before the release of "Growing Wings" this summer
Lara's new invention is called ‘Camouflage’, like the name of the world tour that will start on February 2, 2018 in Miami, and makes a stopover in Paris, at the Zénith, on June 16th. For the moment, this is a unique date in France.
Before the release of the first single - "Growing Wings" - inevitably long awaited by fans who have remained very loyal over the years, Lara Fabian joins Les Friction. A surprising collaboration with an American symphonic rock band! The singer appears on one of the tracks of their album 'Dark Matter', published on June 20, "You Always Knew", a charming ballad, an aperitif before the great return that begins ...
Listen to the new duo of Les Friction and Lara Fabian, "You Always Knew".
----------------------------------------------------
Of course you can’t listen to it on that site unless you’re already registered with ‘Deezer’. You may have also noticed that the links provided in last week’s Update, on youtube and CD Baby, no longer work. When people complained on Lara’s site that they could not get access to the song (from the Apple music link), Lara’s Team responded that it was available on iTunes. Some fans then responded that that wasn’t true in their country [and indeed, even though it is called an ‘American’ rock band, at the time of this writing the song is not available on iTunes in the States either – nor is the album, ‘Dark Matter’ (yet)]. It is available for purchase, if you live in the right country, on amazon.com, (https://www.amazon.com/Always-Knew-feat-Lara-Fabian/dp/B0735KS5F3/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1499131185&sr=8-2&keywords=les+friction+dark+matter) and amazon.fr, at www.amazon.fr/Always-Knew-feat-Lara-Fabian/dp/B0735XMQRB (perhaps not until August 4th) .
When working on other people’s projects, Lara and her team are put in that awkward position of promoting a song that Lara is involved with, but having no control over the access to that song. We also saw that with her duet with Tony Carreira, when the video for ‘Um amor assim’ (Je t'aime) was not available in many countries (see the discussion of February 9th on Lara’s FB site). These things have a way of showing up eventually (even on youtube) as restrictions are loosened when the commercial potential lessens, or broader access is achieved. Ultimately it does nobody any good to keep people from purchasing/hearing a commercial product. That may not be sufficient solace for those who can’t access it in the short term, however.
In addition to Lara’s being in Paris for the AICOM class, we know where else she was this past week: at ‘LOUISE 345 – Private Clubhouse and Residence. According to their site (https://www.facebook.com/pg/louise345/about/?ref=page_internal), they are “Belgium's first Private Clubhouse & Residence, an iconic sanctuary where exotic luxury and timeless elegance are ubiquitous.” In fact, they celebrated Lara’s visit with several pictures, first at
www.facebook.com/louise345/photos/a.266487400356271.1073741828.249173268754351/483976345274041/?type=3&theater
with the caption “#ThrowbackThursday: We are deeply honored and pleased to have had the chance to welcome one of the biggest awards-winning stars in music: Ms. Lara Fabian! More than just her massive talent, what a gracious, elegant and beautiful lady inside and out! Watch out for her new single from her much-anticipated new English-language album, "Camouflage", out this July 2017!” [sic - only the single]
Then, at:
www.facebook.com/louise345/photos/a.266487400356271.1073741828.249173268754351/484611835210492/?type=3&theater
along with the caption, “#FabulousFriday: The fabulously stunning Ms. Lara Fabian having a selfie moment at one of our luxurious suites. Find out why she loves the global lifestyle experience we offer to our members and guests and discover for yourself by having lunch or dinner at our elegant Private Clubhouse! It's the weekend and it's time to celebrate! #TGIF #FriYay.“
This could certainly be one of the ‘interesting pictures of the week’! Again, let’s hope she looks as good in the photo shoot pictures for the new album.
Lara had several ‘tolerance’ shout-outs that she posted on her site last week. For one, she showed a picture of a street scene with a rainbow colored umbrella and building, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1631309093577248/?type=3&theater
and the caption, “"Glückwünsche" [Congratulations] to Germany, for joining the nations respecting marriage equality, "Ehe für Alle".” [Marriage for all]
She also posted a link to a BBC video (https://www.facebook.com/BBCFamilyNews/videos/1319354311433201/) that featured young children being asked how they differed from one another other. The children were of different colors, gender, ethnicity, physical attributes, etc., but none of them noticed any of that – they simply focused on differences in what they liked or did. The point is made – you have to be taught to differentiate (discriminate) on the basis of what a person ‘is’ – it does not come naturally. Lara included the caption (from the song ‘La Difference’): “La différence? Mais quelle différence?”
Lara also gave a bow to ‘Canada Day’ (July 1) (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1631945266846964/?type=3&theater) with a wish for it to be a happy one. As shown, Canada is officially 150 years old. Of course, as a place for people to live, it is much older than that. From Wikipedia:
-------------------------------------------------------
Various indigenous peoples had inhabited what is now Canada for thousands of years prior to European colonization. Beginning in the 16th century, British and French claims were made on the area, with the colony of Canada first being established by the French in 1535 during Jacques Cartier's second voyage to New France. As a consequence of various conflicts, Great Britain gained and lost territories within British North America until it was left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia joined to form the semi-autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the mostly self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada.
In 1931, Canada achieved near-total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, but at the time, Canada decided to allow the British Parliament to temporarily retain the power to amend Canada's constitution, on request from the Parliament of Canada. With the Constitution Act 1982, Canada took over that authority (as the conclusion of Patriation), removing the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British Parliament, giving the country full sovereignty.
---------------------------------------------------------
We’ll see if Lara’s Team is successful in arranging any concerts in that country for the ‘Camouflage’ tour. There were no new listings of venues or ticket sales added this past week.
Finally, we’ll give our own ‘shout-out’ to Lara and Gabrielle, for a (belated) Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary (June 28th). The MZ FBII site pointed out a video celebrating that fact featuring one of the few extended interviews with both of them (from a TV show last year) at
vimeo.com/223349007
Thanks to the Lara Fabian IT site for providing it.
Interesting photo(s) of the week, from the two main activities: Lara being made up at the photo shoot, from the ‘Lara Fabian is Here’ site,
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianIsHerePage/photos/a.398533517416.164839.382393522416/10155507223767417/?type=3&theater
and from Lara’s Master Class at AICOM,

Lara’s Team is apparently still trying to work out all the arrangements for the release of the first single, ‘Growing Wings’. We’ll see if anything happens in the near future, for either that or the 2018 tour. Otherwise, it seems like Lara is trying to ‘keep the pot boiling’, so we can reasonably hope for more personal and interesting items to be coming along.
