The lead news item this past week was the appearance of the official video of Lara with Tony Carreira of their duet of “Um amor assim (Je t'aime)”. It can be seen (by everybody I presume) at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=84FlczToe44
Lara put a link to it on her website, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2IlJltcfk4&feature=youtu.be
However, this is a restricted site and will only lead to frustration for viewers in many countries. Lara’s Team really should be cognizant of that, if they really are trying to appeal to viewers worldwide. Fortunately “LaraF Gr.” was considerate enough to make it available more widely. [It can also be seen on several of the fan FB sites].
As to the video itself, it is pleasant enough, with a bit of ingenuity in its setting, although the lip-sinking was not the best . Actually, a somewhat more adventurous music video was created by ‘Maria I Ribeiro’ and it is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPi7M4QJyWE
The ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ site reported that the clip is being broadcast regularly on the TF1 channel at the moment. It is in fact "the clip of the week".
The song itself has not appeared on the French or Belgian singles charts, nor has the album (‘Le coeur des femmes’). On the Portuguese charts, Tony Carreira’s duet with his brother ‘Um Dia Uma Mulher’ has entered the singles charts at #49 (https://acharts.co/portugal_singles_top_50). This song is actually from another album; the ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ site reported that Carreira actually released two albums simultaneously on February 10: ‘Le Coeur des femmes’ in France, and ‘Sempre mais’ in Portugal. His duet with Lara is on both of them.
Note that these are not the same albums. Here is the tracklist for “Le Coeur Des Femmes’: Um Amor Assim (Je t'aime); Quero Viver (Comme D'Habitude); A Ternura (La Tendresse); Pobre Diabo (Pauvres Diables - Vous Les Femmes);Eu Vou (Là-bas);
Amar (Aimer Jusqu'à L'impossible); História De Um Amor (Histoire D'un Amour/ Historia De Un Amor); A Todas As Mulheres Que Eu Amei (À Toutes Les Filles);
Um Simples Romance (Une Belle Histoire); Perdóname; Um Dia Uma Mulher (Et Un Jour Une Femme)
And the tracklist for ‘Sempre Mais’ is: Mais (Quero Mais); Eu Esueci de Esuecer-te; Um Retrato de Noso s Dois; Sem Ti Eu Nao Sei Viver’ ; Perdoname; Ja Ja Me N’Ga; Tens Sempre Um Amigo; Eu Nao Vou Deixar de Te Amar; Quero Viver; Tu e Eu; Je t’aime; Um Dia Uma Mulher
One can see that in addition to his duet with Lara, three other songs appear on both albums.
The other news of any consequence concerned the concert that had been advertised for Craiova, Romania next October on several sites (and discussed here). It’s importance was that it seemed to ‘break the ice’ concerning appearances for the new English album, and the fact that they indicated they would be selling tickets starting in several days gave it an added element of authenticity. However, Lara’s team denied any such concert was planned; their statement read:
“Despite announcements made on the internet, we would like to inform all fans that NO CONCERT has been announced so far within Lara's upcoming international tour 2017/18. Any announcement for any concert dates which are not published on this page, should not be trusted.
Team Lara”
And in response to a question on the Lara Fabian Romania FB site as to whether ‘Premium Booking’ (the Romanian company that had advertised the concert) could actually be selling tickets without having confirmation from Lara, her Team responded:
“That is correct. We have received invitations from various countries and cities for Lara's upcoming tour ( including from Craiova). However, decisions have not been made on any of the tour dates. Therefore, any ticket sales for any concert not indicated on Lara's official page is not authorized and confirmed. Team Lara”
That couldn’t be said any plainer…although I personally am not aware of any reputable company (which Premium Booking appears to be) actually selling tickets for a non-existent concert, as opposed to simply publicizing one (hoping it would happen – that happens all the time). Indeed, it was then followed by a statement from Premium Booking, available at (https://www.facebook.com/premiumbooking/) which read,
“We would like to inform that an announcement of a concert date for Lara Fabian in Craiova was published without the authority of the Artist’s management. We are currently working on rescheduling Lara Fabian to Craiova within her upcoming World Tour. As of today, a concert is not yet rescheduled.- Premium Booking s.r.l.”
One wonders how this happened – were they negotiating and were so convinced it would be successful that they ‘jumped the gun’? Was a tentative arrangement in place, but it fell through subsequently? Or were they just completely irresponsible (hard to believe, but one supposes it’s not impossible). In any event, there is therefore still nothing on Lara’s calendar aside from her London concert in March; given that it is so far in advance of any other (presumably) English language concert, one wonders if even that would have been cancelled or postponed if not for the uniqueness of it being her first full concert in England. As stated previously, it will be very interesting to see what setlist she ends up using for it.
The other moral of this story – which Lara’s Team would likely approve of – is that one should not assume any concert data is true until it is listed on the ‘Events’ section of her FB page. Frankly, the tendency of fans to do just that was because in the past, her site (URL as well as FB) was often the last to list what everybody else knew was occurring; and concerts away from France and Belgium were often under reported on these sites. With this new Team in place for more than a year now, and the degree of diligence they’ve shown, perhaps fans (and this site) should have more respect for their ability to report promptly such concerts and ticket availability.
Other than that, Lara’s site resorted to its ‘travelogue’ mode, with a picture whose caption read, “The sky over the Mediterranean Sea.. 7.40 AM ..”. For those interested in what is a beautiful enough vista, it can be seen at:

As to what it might imply about Lara’s current whereabouts – well, one can’t see that scene that from Waterloo, Belgium so it implies Lara is still away from home. As to whether she is on vacation or working it is useless to speculate. But we do know that the London concert is a month away, and presumably that has to be rehearsed for at some point.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: A ‘throwback’ picture of Lara, from the ‘Lara Fabian Voice of Passion’ site
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianTheVoiceOfPassion/photos/a.722339551114856.1073741831.720473304634814/1693309374017864/?type=3&theater
and given that we’re in a ‘throwback’ mood (and there aren’t a lot of pictures around currently), the Lara Fabian Mexico site linked to one of the videos they posted a few years ago, of Lara’s performance for French Canadians in Ontario in 1997.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDDpBjc7BxM&feature=youtu.be
It includes some truly wonderful live presentations of Leila, Tout, Perdere l’amore, Caruso, and of course Je t’aime (the old, powerful way). Whatever one thinks of Lara’s pretty performance during the duet with Tony Carreira, there’s nothing like hearing this set to satisfy one’s craving for the Real Lara. In a way, this video is the highlight of this update .
