Lara’s concerts in Russia took place this past week, starting with St. Petersburg and then following with two in Moscow. There were many wonderful comments from fans about these shows, concerning not only Lara’s performance – she was in great voice – but also her sincerity. Lara’s two shows in Moscow were both sold out, with an audience of 7,000 for each one.
There were no full length videos from St. Petersburg (oddly enough), but a plethora of them from Moscow. Those listed right below are for the 11/27 show:

One thing to note about Lara’s costume…while perfectly respectable in appearance, it is not the ‘flowery gowns’ that Lara has worn when in Krutoi’s presence. Some fans have wondered why Lara doesn’t ‘dress up’ elsewhere, and Lara has explained those showy outfits as “being something that is expected of one there”. It would appear that expectation is only present when Krutoi is, or when on TV. In her own concerts Lara is apparently confident that the audience knows her, and will accept her as she normally appears in Francophone countries.
As you can see from the video listings, Lara did perform ‘La Difference’ there, with the background projections of Olivier Ciappa, and she posted some pictures on her website to emphasize that, at

www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bZzrxqYsHQ
There were also some interesting comments from her Team. They put on Lara's FB site the link to the video of ‘Desperate Housewife’ from the Mademoiselle Zhivago ‘movie’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk9qW8Pvf1o&feature=youtu.be). It provoked a fan response complaining, “It's a pity that the French clips are not of this magnitude”. Lara’s Team then answered, “Wait for the next ones, for the album coming in 2017”. The implication is that there will be some high quality videos associated with the next English album – which also implies, if true, an extensive promotional effort. That would be very good news!
Then, in response to a question as to whether Lara would be coming to the Vancouver area, Lara’s Team said, “Of course, with the new English album and a new show.” Another fan then asked if Lara would also come to Brazil, and Lara’s Team said, “The next tour 2017/2018 will be coming to Brazil too. “ With this latest reply and the indication that the album will be out next summer (if not later), it is starting to look like a tour to North and South America will most likely be in the latter part of next year, extending into the following year. Obviously, all this is guess work until actual dates are posted in the ‘Events’ section of Lara’s site. We know she has some concerts (Poland, London) in the first quarter of 2017 in Europe; we’ll have to see whether those will really be for the new English album. The posters for them do not give anything away, and the timing may not be propitious.
On the LFIAG Select site, ‘JM San Ton Ja’ noted that he had looked on ‘SOCAN’ for new titles for Lara that might represent songs on the new English album – and he found 11 of them, 10 written by Lara with Mohammed Denebi and Sharon Vaughn (with whom she is writing the album). Those titles are “Breakable”; Camouflage; Chameleons; Communificate; Flyers; Growing Wings; If I Let You Love Me; Painting in the Rain; Perfect; We Are the Storm. In addition, a song ‘Gaia’ was written by Lara herself. Whether these have anything to do with the new album is unclear, because as he pointed out, the numbers associated with them precede the numbers given to the songs for ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, so they may represent an older project. Even if that were true, they, or some portion of them, may have been resurrected for this one, which would help explain how it could be done so relatively quickly while Lara was still performing on her tour.
Continuing in this speculative mode, on the same site, Nicolas Boucaud noted that Lara’s Twitter account is close in number to that of Avery Lipman. He is the Chief Operating Officer of “Universal Records” (which used to be called Universal Republic Records), suggesting that as a possible House for the English album. This would of course require her to move back to Universal, from whom she parted in less than ideal circumstances. A discussion of this label can be found at (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Republic_Records) and the list of artists (few of whom are of Lara’s ilk, though they do have a several pop performers), is at (http://www.republicrecords.com/artists/).
Interesting photo(s) of the week: in place of the usual photos, Paula (and the LFIAG Select site), pointed out there is a fascinating video of Lara from 1992 that was just put on youtube. It can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlgDWK8ePmo
(Lara shows up starting at about the 2 minute mark). One can see how much she’s changed; and also how much she hasn’t.
From here Lara moves on to Minsk (Belarus), and then two concerts in Kiev (Ukraine) this week. Then she’s off for a week before two concerts in Turkey and one in Romania. After that there are just two more ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ performances; overall there will have been around 45, give or take a few. With the same degree of uncertainty, I count around 25 concerts for ‘Le Secret’, the tour obviously cut short by illness. With these as ‘bookend’ numbers, perhaps we’ll see something similar for the English album, though one supposes that also depends on how much Lara will promote it in the Francophone countries. Coming back to the present, hopefully we’ll have some more videos from the upcoming shows – and maybe even some more ‘full concerts’ [note the ones from Moscow!].
