Verrrrrrry interesting:
News Update: 8/13
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara finished the next set of summer festival concerts this past week at the Stade Tropenas de Montélimar (Aug 6); Valras (Aug 8) ; Bandol (Aug 9); and the Théâtre de la Mer de St-Maxime (Aug 10). Each of these concerts had interesting aspects. At the 'Stade', Lara made special mention of the coming medical operation of several of her fans, which resulted in a very moving memoir of the concert by one of them (racusette26100) on the official site. [Also, as she has done once or twice previously, when she sang the line from Homericains talking about the 'false breasts', she showed a good deal of her breasts, provoking some comment about this on the official site.] In Valras, Lara gave a concert on the beach that was free to all entrants and attracted 40,000 people (!). Both there and in the following concert at Bandol, she actually left by the sea. And at all the concerts, she was in very fine voice and very active - as can be seen by the videos posted at www.dailymotion.com (in particular, the 'Homericains'). There were some problems - with security; with the wind which made her a bit sick and also perhaps forced late starts; and in particular, at Valras, with an audience that wasn't so familiar with her newer songs. But apparently she worked very hard to involve them, and all indications from both those attending and in the press was that they were extremely successful. As a performer, Lara continues to hit a very high level.
At all of these concerts, Lara indicated that next year she is going to have a child. Unless she knows something we don't, one obviously cannot be sure of such a thing, but at least it appears to be her intention at the moment. How this will play into any touring she would do to support the 'multilingual' album, including stops in the U.S., remains to be seen.
The topic of her having a child was discussed on the official site, and then removed, apparently for encroaching too much on Lara's personal life. That occurred despite Lara going out of her way to make the announcement multiple times. It makes one wonder: will the official site not allow notification of her being pregnant, should that occur; would it never mention that she had a child, or that the child has a birthday…where does one draw the line? It seems to me that if Lara chooses to discuss something publicly, Lara's sites should be able to do so as well, or otherwise they are put in a position of having to censor her own remarks. [Fortunately none of this is an issue on Laradom.]
In a recent interview in Telepro, Lara discussed her coming projects. She indicated that the live album does "effectively" include scenes from the Belgian show (which you may remember was apparently one of extreme emotion, both from the audience and Lara herself). It would be great if this really were included, but what her choice of the word "effectively" means is unclear; the advertisement on FNAC only notes the show at the Zenith in Paris. Perhaps she just didn't want to say 'no' to the Belgian interviewer, or perhaps it only includes scenes of the audience, which was what had originally been discussed. The album will not have the duo of 'Seras tu là' with Pascal Obispo; Lara said that some things are to be left for a much later project in which they will work together. However, it will include the duo with Gigi d'Alessao, singing 'La donna que vorrei'. She also told the interviewer that it will be followed by an album in 'Italian' (which is clearly how she thinks about what in Montreal was called the "multilingual" album).
In the same article, Lara indicated that she will not be doing the "American thriller" movie. She said she has just so many other projects, and the music is her top priority. (I would imagine that having a child might also be one of those projects that could interfere, depending on the timing.)
As indicated on FNAC, the DVD will include 2 hours of "unpublished material" filmed by G Puliccino. It will have images of the tour, Lara's interactions backstage and with the audience, and karaoke versions of 'Aime' and 'L’homme qui n’avait pas de maison'. Alex noted in Laradom that if in addition it includes some 1:40 minutes of the concert itself, that makes for a very long DVD! There is as yet no indication whether there will be a version for the audience in Quebec (i.e., Region 1, NTSC).
This is an off-week for Lara publicly, before the summer tour returns to Belgium August 25 and 26.
