As was to be expected, the French press picked up on Lara’s announcements concerning the Mlle. Zhivago project this past week. That was fairly well guaranteed because her messages included notice of the upcoming release of the CD/DVD, and that motivated the press to carry it. Unfortunately for her, her messages of necessity also contained the controversy about the film, and that garnered equal attention. There are several on-line articles about this, and indicative of the content is the one from ptitblog, whose translation I’ve provided below:
www.ptitblog.net/Lara-Fabian/lara-fabian-son-projet-mademoiselle-zhivago-le-21-juin_art7250.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is on 21 June, emblematic of the Music Festival, that the singer Lara Fabian has chosen to offer to her fans the project "Miss Zhivago" in CD / DVD, an album in 5 languages with a live DVD ONLY available in Carrefour stores.
If the singer defended herself on her official Facebook Page for being unable to release the film shot in Russia for reasons that go beyond the artistic domain, she has not abandoned the musical part at all, and wants to offer to her French fans a collector's item for the occasion. First there is a CD which will feature songs in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian, and also a live DVD of the concert given at the Kremlin in Moscow. All accompanied by a booklet of unpublished photos retracing the genesis of this project from its base in the ‘countries to the east’ (Eastern Europe).
Lara Fabian had planned a musical film to illustrate these new songs. A film that will probably never happen, the assembly being too trashy for the singer and far removed from her personal convictions. A stir was caused among her fans from the beginning, who saw in this film a hope of upsetting the (assumed) codes and showing the singer as never before. A risk-taking that Lara is clearly not ready to take, and differences of opinion with director Alan Badoev led her to abandon the original project.
We offer nevertheless the teaser for this project which promised to be most daring:
[The youtube video trailer – which is still there – is now shown….]
See you on June 21 in Carrefour stores to find this unique collector's box, containing the songs "Miss Zhivago" and the live concert given at the Kremlin. A magnificent concert, with a singer worthy of being a true Diva and in full vocal form. A nice gift for her fans and a good opportunity to discover this very successful project.

A very fair article, IMHO, containing all the elements of this drama: the great music, the wonderful concert video (that they don’t know was half lip-synced, and probably very few others will either), and then the failure to release the ‘daring’ movie which could have forever changed opinions about Lara in France and elsewhere.
The article contained some interesting points, although a major caveat is, how much do they really know…It says that the CD will contain songs in the 5 languages, which would imply that the Russian song will be there. They also say that the photos will be about the MZ project, and that may imply that it includes stills from the movie (hard to believe, but, who knows?).
As one can see, it also includes the youtube video of the trailer, and this more than anything else, works against Lara, for the trailer is masterful – fast-paced, varied, with beautiful images, with both Lara and Igor Krutoi saying how wonderful the project is. Very rarely (if ever) does one see trailers this good for films that never appear. Without it, one imagines the protests would not be as impassioned. True, there were clips of the various segments made available during the filming itself (also still available on youtube), but they never had the excitement that the trailer generates – I know of no one who’s seen it who then doesn’t want to view the movie (which might not have been as good ). One can understand why Lara was so upset at its creation and release by Badoev – it has put her in the position of being a ‘spoiler’ and contradicting herself. Actually, this article was a bit kinder to her than some of the others, but even here it is clear that they feel she was afraid to take the risks necessary to change her image (which in France, as we know, is as the somewhat two-dimensional singer of ‘Je t’aime’).
There were only three responses to this article on the site, perhaps indicative of the lack of current French interest in Lara. One decries her censorship; one respects her opinion; and one just hopes that the package that is released is a quality product. That too pretty well represents what fans are saying on the different websites.
Meanwhile, Badoev continues to respond to Twitters, noting that the project took a year of the time of Max Barskih and his team. He also indicated he will try to find the money to buy the film so he can release it on the web. Most people are dubious that will ever happen (or even understand what that really means), but as long as the film is not destroyed, it may eventually emerge in one form or another. As for Lara, the whole incident will continue to dog her until she moves onto her next project, though if the album is a great success it can eclipse it somewhat. After that it will represent another lost opportunity in a career that, sadly, has had many of them.
Still on this subject, the website ‘Du cote de chez Lara’ has shown what they claim is the likely cover of the CD-DVD book (although how they know is not clear); it can be found at:

For what it’s worth, here is a translation:

Lara Fabian "Miss Zhivago"
In recent years, Lara has become one of the most popular French singers in Russia and across Eastern Europe. Ambassador of French glamor to a full house at every concert and attracted Russian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Hungarian, Polish or Ukrainian audiences in the language of Molière. To them, she dared to change her artistic imprint and build an album lyrical, orchestrated by the most illustrious musician / producer Russian Igor Krutoy. After months of chart-topping in Russia and a week's concert at the legendary Kremlin, Lara Fabian wanted to share this episode of her career with the French public. The exclusive edition of the "Russian tale" recounts her adventures and encounters in detail and offers the added bonus of discovering "Miss Zhivago", a unique album and the DVD of her live performance at the Kremlin.

In a (possibly) less official mode, Valou has come up with a beautiful rendition of what he would like to see as the cover of the album ‘Le Secret’ (if and when it appears). It can be found ¼ of the way down the page at:

In other news, we’ve now gotten to hear the full duet of ‘Ma solitude’ with George Perris, to my ears a pleasant enough song that grows on one, but sung ‘very carefully’ by both singers (perhaps so as not to overwhelm the other).
As for the other song , the one that Lara wrote the lyrics to on his album, ‘Dis-moi comment t’aimer’, it is more impassioned (thanks to Paula for the link). One would like to hear Lara sing it… A translation of the words as we know them will be provided in a separate thread…

George Perris left a video for Lara on youtube (unlisted, but made available by Lara Fabian Brazil). Here’s a translation of what he said:

"My Lara, every time I talk about you, I would start with" My Lara. "You have been a sun in my life. And, as you know very well, you're one of the biggest influences in my life as an artist. I I feel so happy and lucky to be your friend and have shared concerts with you. I'm sure that other magical moments are waiting for us in this life.
Thanks for being there! Thanks for always being by my side! And thanks for supporting my trip with your generosity!
I love you so much! Forever!

The Minibobon Tour posted a short documentary that shows Lara and her team behind the scenes of her recent trip to Almaty in Kazakhstan. It can be seen at the larafabian Brazil site at:
larafabianbrasil.blogspot.com/
Following an article from Kazan on the web, Larafabianweb.com claims that Lara’s concert on October 9 in Kazan, Russia, is now officially set. Lara’s official site makes no mention of it, but that means little at this point. We’ll see if it is followed by any others…
Manu Pitois, who has often worked with Lara, has provided an improvisation on the theme of the song ‘Immortelle’. It can be found at:

Nothing on the schedule coming up for Lara publicly – but then again that was true the past two weeks – so we’ll see what happens…
