A quiet week publicly for Lara. Next Monday she starts her week of concerts in ‘the countries to the east’, the most activity so far planned for 2012, and to that end, she is already in the Czech Republic preparing for her March 12 opening. What she chooses to sing may well be a tip-off on how she expects the rest of the year to go. Her previous appearances in these countries have featured songs from Mlle. Zhivago, as well as her classics; we’ll see if MZ songs are included this time. If not, then it is a pretty good indication she has ‘moved on’ from that CD, which also doesn’t bode well for the film. Some members of the Mlle. Zhivago FB site seem convinced that the movie will be ready shortly, and if so, this would be a good time to re-introduce the songs to her upcoming audience.
Lara has already given an interview for a Czech publication. Here are some highlights of the (Google-translated) interview (thanks to the Lara Fabian Brazil FB page):

You grew up alternating between Belgium and Italy. What country do you consider your home?
L.F.: I've never been tied to a single country. My house was always the world. All places where people live, what I like.
It is linked to this fact, the ease with which you learn foreign languages? Do you speak French, Italian, English and Spanish, but you also sang songs in Portuguese, German and Hebrew ...
LF: I responded to what was required of me, that's not enough for me, what I can do. I was happy being able to rediscover new ways of expression. And I still like to learn new languages.
What do you think it's funny ... What do you like best?
LF: When I go onstage, I close my eyes and I can take very different forms of communication with the public. Share with them the real emotions, not just fleeting moments.
Have you worked with some notable personalities, including Steven Spielberg. How did this happen?
LF: I participated in the competition, where we had to perform the song for the film AI Artificial Intelligence. I was very lucky. And twice now. First, the fact that Steven Spielberg liked my voice, and after the film's music composed by John Williams (author of the song title and series like Star Wars - Ed. Ed), came as a great song.
And Finally ... 21.12.2012 is it the end of time?
L.F.: The End of the world ... At least not in the sense that we have to react somehow afraid. But I believe it will be the coming of a new one. There will come a time when the world will be better. I know.

From there Lara goes to Slovakia on the 13th, Moldavia on the 15th, and then finishes in Bucharest on the 17th and 18th, the second concert being added after the first sold out in ‘record time’. Both should have an audience of about 8100 people.
Lara’s FB page has a new look, one that is coming to all FB pages by the end of the month. She used the new setting to thank fans for their messages of love. Overall the new format is attractive, but perhaps more confusing than previously. IMHO, the changes FB has introduced over the past year have degraded the site for real communication. Despite the reorganization, her site is no more substantive than it was previously, given that fans are not allowed to introduce topics. They can make comments under a general rubric, but without a dedicated topic, no consistent follow-ups or probing is possible. This has undoubtedly made life easier for the people running her site, but there’s less interest in spending any time on it.
By next week’s update, the concerts will have started, and hopefully a setlist and videos will be available. Interest in Lara on the websites should thus pick up, at least momentarily, and maybe the activity will spur Lara into more of the same.
