The beginning of a new year for Lara and her fans - expectations run high, while the last year ends as the previous one did...
As expected, Lara’s performance on the Russian TV show ‘Blue Light’ aired on New Year’s Eve, as it did last year. In a rendition similar to what was done at the ‘New Wave Festival’ last July, Lara and Igor Krutoi performed “Les feuilles mortes” (Autumn Leaves). One could speculate on the reason(s) behind this choice, although the explanation could simply be a very prosaic one, that it allowed Krutoi to “sing” with Lara a song they had experience with. It had the effect of allowing Lara to bypass any of the ‘Mlle. Zhivago’ titles (and perhaps associated questions).
As for the performance itself, it was an exact copy of their duet at the ‘New Wave Show’, hence it was the same ‘pre-recording’ as on that occasion. The only differences were they cut a bit of Krutoi’s musical intro at the beginning, and Lara’s dress was a brighter blue than the one she had worn previously . Hence lip-synching was still the order of the day, and probably will be when she is on TV shows in that country. Lara did look beautiful, as she routinely does there, and some wonderful pictures are available at:

Videos are readily available on youtube (and don’t look to be in danger of being pulled by the TV station). Since there is a pre-recorded version of this duet, one wonders if it will be a cut from their next album together, along with songs such as 'Always' and the one Krutoi played on a Russian TV show (assuming there is such an album...).
The show was pre-recorded several weeks earlier, and so Lara was probably not in Russia for New Year’s Eve. That gave her time to leave a few messages of holiday good cheer on her FB site. [Perhaps one of her New Year’s resolutions was to interact more with her audience – if so, we’ll see how long it lasts.] There was nothing of consequence for her career in the messages, one of which was translated into English, and the fans’ response was likewise primarily one of good wishes.
In other news, ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ provided some additional pictures of Lara and Gerard at the Hotel de Sers in Paris from earlier in December (where they were judges of photographs of the hotel); they can be seen at:

The same site also posted more pictures of Lara at the charity gala in Moscow from earlier in December, the same day Lara recorded the Blue Light show; they can be found at:

In the ‘take it as you will’ department: Larafabianweb.com, whose host Laetitia has often had inside news on Lara’s activities (but has also been wrong), is speculating that if everything goes o.k. with the editing of the Mlle. Zhivago movie, it logically should be released as a DVD during the first quarter of 2012. She says she doesn’t yet have a specific date.
Next Monday, January 9th, is Lara’s 42nd birthday. Several of the websites (Brazil, Russia) are trying to get together a message or video of congratulations to send to her. Here’s wishing Lara a most happy birthday – and coming year – as well!
