The news this week is split between current events in France and future events in the ‘countries to the east’.
As anticipated, Lara recorded her presentation on the show "Laurent Gerra ne s'interdit rien" yesterday, which apparently includes a duet with the “Voca People” as well as a medley (maybe including ‘Alleluia’) with Laurent Gerra (see www.pure-lara.fr/index.php/actualites/4-tv-laurent-gerra-ne-sinterdit-rien). There are no fan reports of what actually went on, if indeed there was a studio audience, at least partly because there is no longer any official forum on which to report them. With the closing of the ‘Discussion’ section on Facebook sites, fans can no longer enter new topics on Lara’s site, they can only respond to the officially raised topics (probably a great relief to those who run Lara’s site). We don’t know if the Mlle. Zhivago project was discussed on the show, but as people in France have generally been kept in the dark about it, it would have required the host to have done some homework. Lara’s official page indicates that the program will be broadcast on TF1 December 2nd, but fans have found that the TV listings for that date indicate another (and very popular) program is scheduled instead. We should know more by the time it airs.
On December 8th, TF6 is broadcasting a program called “Le plus grand fan” (the greatest fan), in which there is competition between fans of different performers to determine who is the most dedicated. Representing Lara is “Aurelie” who is certainly conscientious, attending many far-flung concerts, and providing very emotive accounts of her experiences (one of her concert reviews was translated in its entirely for a news update some years ago). How they will ‘judge’ the winner is unclear…
A preview has appeared of “La Vie L'Amour La Mort”, Lara’s duet with Nana Mouskouri from her forthcoming album ‘Nana Mouskouri and friends’. The extract, which sounds quite compelling, can be heard at:
www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B006253U1I/ref=dm_dp_trk8?ie=UTF8&qid=1321144208&sr=301-3
The album will be released November 21st.
Coincidentally, also being released November 21st is the Thierry Gali CD “Il etait une fois”, on which Lara reads ‘Snow White’. A cute video promo for it can be found on youtube (without Lara) at www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaDDJbkGBxo
On the ‘foreign front’, Lara is gearing up for some concerts in the first few months of next year. According to the official site, she now has scheduled an appearance in Lebanon on February 14th and 15th, and shows in Bratslava, Slovakia on March 13th, Kichinev, Moldavia (March 15th), and Bucharest, Romania on (March 17). [Although she doesn’t list it, we also know that she will be Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 14th; see last week’s update for Lara’s letter confirming her appearance.]
There’s a nice photo being used to advertise her appearance in Slovakia. It can be seen at:
www.aktuality.sk/fotogaleria/196865/lara-fabian-interpretka-hitov-je-suis-malade-je-t-aime-vystupi-na-slovensku/1/
The prevailing fan view is that it was taken as part of the Mlle. Zhivago photo shoots.
Obviously, she is again dipping her toe into venues in the ‘countries to the east’. As of this point, that does not include Russia and the Ukraine, which may be meaningful or not. Fans on the Russian forum are hopeful that a more comprehensive schedule, including those countries, is being prepared, but if it is, that may wait until the weather there is warmer. Undoubtedly questions about the ‘Mlle. Zhivago’ project are more likely to arise if she ventures into those terrains; perhaps the schedule will provide an indication as to whether the conflicts over the film are in the process of resolution. It still seems as if it would be difficult for her to appear extensively in either the Ukraine or Russia if she is suppressing the film’s release.
Meanwhile, her co-conspirators in the film’s production have turned their attention elsewhere (at least publicly). Alan Badoev is busy tweeting about his new projects, which include making a series of short films in Moscow, where he is, currently. Igor Kruotoi has a new video “You are my September”, available on youtube (and he is also probably enjoying his 48 million dollar apartment at the Plaza Hotel in New York ). He too will be in Moscow, on December 20th, for a children’s choir concert.
Absent from Lara’s official schedule, but on her real schedule is Lara’s appearance in Moscow for an awards dinner December 8th. With both Badoev and Krutoi scheduled to be in Moscow around that time, perhaps a meeting is in the offing…If not, and if everybody has moved on without any positive resolution concerning the film, we’ll see whether Krutoi attends Lara’s event.
A number of news media outlets are still going under the assumption that the film will soon be out, following the release of the trailer (and apparently unaware of Lara’s desires). An example is an interview with Max Barsky published in the journal vip-star.ru that came out last week, and talks in excited terms about the movie and his happiness acting with Lara. (It’s available at: vip-star.ru/news_showbiz/7198-maks-barskix-i-lara-fabian-zanimalis-lyubovyu-pered-kamerami.html).
By next week the full version of the duet with Nana Mouskouri will be available– it will be nice to hear new music from Lara once again, as opposed to being embedded in her controversies.
