A quiet week for Lara, with just several new videos of interviews from the ˜countries to the east. As a follow-up to her Armenian concert, Lara recorded a brief greeting to that country, available on youtube and larafabiannews.com. The latter site also has some nice pictures from the concert - also don't miss Christina's links given in her section on this site. In addition, in the ˜don't believe everything you read department (the category we know very well, where Lara is concerned), a new article at: www.armenews.com/article.php3?id_article=68429 stated that Matt Herskowitz was Lara pianist at that concert. That would have been a surprise but it's probably wrong, it does appear as if it was Giora Linenberg, as originally noted.
And a video of Lara praising Igor Krutoi and discussing her singing of the ˜Russian song from her album is available on youtube. Lara gave the interview in English, but unfortunately the translation blocks out much of what she says. What does come through is how powerful she thinks that song is, and that when she sings in a language she doesn't know, she has to resort to singing with her soul.
In that regard, "Angeyelliel" on the official forum mentioned that Igor Krutoi is in the process of writing songs for Lara's next album. This was originally brought up in conjunction with the song "Always" presented several months ago. Lara recently seemed to indicate that her next album would be in French; one supposes that if Igor writes the music, Lara could simply provide the lyrics in French, and both of these rumors would be satisfied (although it would then not include ˜Always" which as we know is in English).
Some charity events of Lara's, current and in the future: This evening beginning at 7:00 PM Lara tapes her contribution to the "Sidaction", program for help in combating AIDS. It will be aired April 2nd. And on May 7th, Lara will be present for a grand closing ceremony and to donate a gold record for help in raising funds in the fight against leukemia/cancer in children/adults.
The first single from Lara's Canadian "best of" was released, and, not surprisingly, it is "Je me souviens", the title song of the album. Still no listing of the tracks to be included on either amazon.ca. or Archambault, with the scheduled release date of April 19th. However, a promo (using the video for that song from "Neuf") created by Stephane Lamontagne, can be seen at:
www.stephanelamontagne.com/clients/larafabian/jemesouviens/
and there it lists the CD as having 16 songs, of which 13 represent Lara's greatest moments. For comparison, the "one CD" version released in France has 17 songs, including the two new songs (On S'Aimerait Tout Bas; Ensemble) and TLFM, leaving 13 older songs.
Just a note for those of you looking for another website in English. check out the Romanian Fan Club site on facebook, at:

And on the lara-pure facebook site, it is noted that Sophie Davant, a journalist who works for the show "Toute une histoire", is collecting information on the topic "The Fans and Married Life". This program will be about passionate fans of performers, as well as the consequences for their spouses. An interesting topic! If you're motivated to contribute, send a note to pure.lara@yahoo.fr and you'll receive the contact coordinates for the journalist (not sure whether English is acceptable here or not).
And now for the comments on the biography of Lara, pp. 72-76.
**Lara won the Victoire in France, in February 1998, as "Revelation of the year 1997"; in her acceptance speech she properly thanked Rick Allison, who she said had "never lied to her" about all the success he promised they would have together. At the show she sang "Je t'aime" and "Tout" giving the audience the full feeling of her power and determination.
**1998 was a great year for Lara in France, as well as in Quebec where she was nominated for several different awards, and recognized as a Quebec artist throughout the province.
**Her live double album in 1999 immediately went to the top of the charts, and by the middle of that year her previous records were all made available in Belgium and France.
**Her interactions with Johnny Hallyday started at the "Restos du Coeur", the Enfoires show in 1997, but it was really mediated by Jean Claude Camus, who was the producer in charge of both Lara's concerts and Hallyday's. He told Johnny that he had to go see her perform, and when he did, he said, she was a "female version" of him, that when she sings a song she lives it fully".
**The choice of singing "Requiem pour un fou" for their duet at the next Enfoires show was actually Lara's, who was familiar with all of his songs since her parents had been great fans of his, and so was she as an adolescent. He was skeptical at first, but when he heard her in their rehearsal, he started referring to her as ˜the panther".
**After the show, he asked her to sing with him on stage during his tour at the Stade de France. Lara thought he wasn't really serious, just caught up in the emotion of the moment, and so, basically, refused. He was astonished, but wouldn't take no for an answer, and the next day returned with a bouquet and a small invitation letter to assure her, "in case you hadn't believed me".
**After their rendition, before 80,000 people, Jean-Claude Camus told them that everyone back stage just leapt to their feet, so taken were they with the performance.
**In basically 18 months, Lara had risen to the top as a star in France/Belgium.
Lara will be in London tomorrow for Gorbachev's 80th birthday party. Hopefully some videos will be made available.
